FIC: All Right (SB/VM, R, 1/1)

Because my friends are Evil Minions and hopeless romantics, occasionally I end up talking to them in the evening and then having really warped dreams. What follows is one such example. Please don't expect originality or cleverness; my subconscious mind has neither of those things, only smarminess.

Summary: It takes Sean a few minutes to figure out what he offered and what Viggo accepted.

Disclaimer: This is fiction, never happened, never will.

Ow. Oh, ouch. It's hurty in all the good ways, and even the good quiet at the end hurts, but in a different way. You choose your words very well, carefully measured, like I think this Sean would do, in this detached way he has of thinking about himself.

What's great is the slow revelation that we can really follow, the way we know what Sean wants the same way Sean knows what Sean wants, but not really, right there at the edge of admitting to himself that he wants it. The way he watches Viggo, the details he picks out -- obviously a man infatuated but unable to really see it. And we're right there with him, the "are they/aren't they" feeling of the beginning, the "si that what he meant" of the invitation.

Very nice. I read it twice before I could breathe properly to give feedback. Because, you know, the breathing helps.

Thank you! *blushes*
Now a question - do you love it partly because you recognized what it's made of? I'm asking becasue I've been wondering a lot if people could see that or not, and no one has ever commented on it yet :D

The pic is two bits taken of the two Lost photos and superposed, and the text is from the commentary, yes. I'm all happy someone recognized it now :D
As well as flattered that you loved it, yay!

Lovely tension, very subtle.

I like this the best: There's your way out, but the moment the warmth drains from his face, you want it back. You want it back more than your privacy, your reputation or whatever else you thought might be at risk here

This was me going, awwww. So sweet. And I was so glad that they were comfy at the end. What a cute little story. I loved it.

That's really lovely. The second present tense makes the misunderstanding feel all the more acute. I love his gradual realisation that he doesn't want to hurt Viggo, and what that might mean.

*ties you to the computer & forces you to talk to Cinzia all the time*

Because this is the best thing I've read in awhile. I felt every tiny revelation right along with Sean.

Of course I'll be there. Kate assures me that Jo & I are getting to Hell before anyone else. *grins*

Oh, and "Portrait"...God, you know, I've got such a soft spot for that fic. Was the first idea I ever had for this fandom. I just kept getting distracted by Dom for awhile there to write it. ;)

Lovely. So very real and immediate (in ways that had nothing to do with the second-person POV but everything to do with tone and pace and description) that it just settled over me with a faint sigh. Unravelling with ease into something beautiful and hopeful and full of promise.

This was something very special. Thank you.

Love sappy!fic ... unsure Sean so desperately keen not to disappoint his friend. Second-person at its best - used for effect not hey-wow-look-at-me

[identity profile] caras-galadhon.livejournal.com 2003-02-12 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
*Meep.* That was lovely... simply lovely... And, um, I seem to be unable to give proper feedback right now, so how about this --

Have I told you lately that I worship you? Because I still do. *setting up shrine*

[identity profile] caras-galadhon.livejournal.com 2003-02-13 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
No shrine necessary,
Oh. But, but... *sigh*

go write more Sharpe fic...
Yes'm! Will do.

Sean is just now waking up, I think. At last. :)

Oh, this is so beautiful it makes me want to cry. Really. I love it, had to read it again today. The slow-motion unfolding of emotions is just. Perfect. It's so hard to get scenes like this to ring true (and not be schmoopy or melodramatic), but this does. Loved so many of the lines, hard to pick just a phrase or two:

Asleep, he loses his manic edge and solid bearing, as well as the flickers of distance and shyness that sometimes make him seem there and not-there all at once. Viggo's arms drape in front of his chest and his long legs bend at the knee so that his feet can press the armrest.

I can see Viggo *so* clearly, described this way. ::sigh:: Don't often admit to my hopeless romantic side, but... ya got me. Thank you...

[identity profile] gotham-syren.livejournal.com 2003-02-12 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
Ok, so how is that *you* get to have dreams about VigBean, and all I get are dreams that I'm back in high school and haven't studied for my final exams? Damn. Some chics have all the luck.

[identity profile] freelove.livejournal.com 2003-02-12 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
This story was posted with the best timing, because I was in a really lousy mood when I came upon this, and suddenly my mood brightened. Like an earlier comment said, "It's hurty in all the good ways." I've always noticed and observed how the biggest conflicts can arise from the smallest misunderstandings, and I think half of what we say is miscommunicated everyday.

But, on to the story: excellent premise, I would have never thought of such a thing and I love the way you executed the idea. And I actually have been in a similar situation, and it was a lot more embarrassing for me. Luckily, Sean and Viggo had a good ending by falling asleep side by side, and God knows what the possibilities could be :)

I want to write more, but I think I'll email you instead, before I continue to ramble and ramble...

[identity profile] keelywolfe.livejournal.com 2003-02-13 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohh, lovely and hurty in all the right ways. Thank you.

[identity profile] keelywolfe.livejournal.com 2003-02-13 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Is "hurty" a good thing? *g*

Only in fanfiction. *G*

Absolutely love your icon...you wrote that A/B leather story, right? Yum!

LOL! Thank you!. And yes, I did write that. Something about Aragorn makes me think he's fetish-y, I suppose. Must be all the leather clothes. ^__~

Stoopid sean, he was so confused. Asking Viggo to go to bed, what a cutie! I liked that, liked how you described Viggo's reactions.
