Summary : Historical fiction set in the First World War Please note, this story is set during a war during which many, many people died. Ergo, you should expect there to be blood and carnage in the course of it. There will be no graphic descriptions but it is not possible to write about this subject matter without having death playing a prominent role. Therefore please read this as a warning and stay away if talk of death and character death in particular upsets you.

Author’s Note: I have decided to post this entire fic without comments turned on. There are many reasons for this. First of all, I want to prove to myself that I don’t need feedback to be write and more importantly, like Bach’s Passions there is never any applause, I kind of feel like it’s inappropriate for a story set during the First World War. Those people who know me know how to find me - I’m not exactly hidden from y’all. But I am testing this out. If it doesn’t work, I will switch ‘em on for future chapters.
