There will be no graphic descriptions but it is not possible to write about this subject matter without having death playing a prominent role. Therefore please read this as a warning and stay away if talk of death and character death in particular upsets you.

Author’s Note: I have decided to post this entire fic without comments turned on. There are many reasons for this. First of all, I want to prove to myself that I don’t need feedback to be write and more importantly, like Bach’s Passions there is never any applause, I kind of feel like it’s inappropriate for a story set during the First World War. Those people who know me know how to find me - I’m not exactly hidden from y’all. But I am testing this out. If it doesn’t work, I will switch ‘em on for future chapters.
