To apologise for being incredibly busy and not posting a lot over the past couple of months, V and RC have made the executive decision to give all of their wonderful readers a treat. This treat being a "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Librairie Advent Calendar!" Every day until Christmas, V and RC will post a new chapter of 'AFTH' for your delectation and delight. However, due to not wanting to spam various communities, they will only notify once a week, so the fastest way for you to get updated would be to friend [livejournal.com profile] v_and_rc.

Enjoy!

Oh, and the first advent chapter is here

I'm pleased to announce that nominations are still open for the FPS and Classic Fiction categories of the Men of Middle Earth Awards, celebrating the extensive variety of pairings in the LOTR slash fandom.

Eligible FPS fics include not only Tolkien characters but also other roles the actors have played (Richard Sharpe, Frank Hopkins, Casey Connor, Barrett Bonden, Charlie Pace, Will Turner, etc.). All crossovers are eligible; as long as part of the pairing is a Tolkien character (including the Hobbit and the Silmarillion) or a character one of the actors played in another film, the fic is eligible for nomination. The Classics category encompasses both RPS and FPS.

Awards will be presented based on story length and pairing; winners will be announced at the end of January. Specific guidelines and eligibility requirements can be found here (for FPS) and here (for Classic Fiction).

Nominations close December 12 and you don't have to be a member of the community to nominate. The RPS round was a lot of fun so come join us in recognizing the wide range of LOTR slash pairings!

Want to recommend your favourite stories about Craig Parker, Mark Ferguson, Brett Beattie, Harry Sinclair, Marton Csokas, Sala Baker, Lawrence Makoare, Fon, BK, Hannah Wood, any of the stunties or other under-sung members of the cast of LOTR to a larger audience? Well, step right over to this challenge at [livejournal.com profile] lotr_fic_recs! They're asking for recommendations of stories about the less well-known actors from the movie (high time, I think), and nobody's stepped up, so far.

Personally, I think it would be wonderful if we could recommend stories about some of these guys. We'd help some authors (both with praise and inspiration), expose some new folk to new possibilities and reawaken the love of this terrific cast all in one, fell swoop!

One caveat: nobody is allowed to rec their own work. Any takers? *bats eyelashes*

([livejournal.com profile] suede_scripture, I do apologize profusely for posting this without asking first. Please feel free to throttle me, as necessary.)
