This part has taken over a month to write, and has been the subject of nine million phone calls with kraken_wakes, the subject of many an lj post, and has resulted in a trek around the Cadbury's website to see what you could get in New Zealand. It has very nearly succeeded in eating my brain. Early on (although I promised that this would be a three-parter, and I still maintain I'm not going to have a part 4) I realised I couldn't fit everything I wanted to in one single part, unless that part was 15,000 words long, so I've developed an ingenius way of circumnavigating the quagmire of refusing to have a part four. So here's 3a. To be followed by 3b and 3c.

A/N: The .5 classification means it runs parallel to the events in sunsetmog's Epiphany 2. I've nicked a few lines from Terry Pratchett's Men At Arms. It just seemed appropriate. I don't know who to credit for the 'butterfly wing eyes' description but whoever it was, thank you. It's beautiful.

Orlando Bloom equals thrill-seeker, risk-taker, perhaps, but not one to risk the people he cares about. He still has the taste of Elijah's skin in his mouth... Hmm.

May I please assert once again that I like Kate Bosworth?
