(no subject)

hi all,
i just started reading fanfics and i especially like rps.
i'm an analytical kind of gal,so i wondered if anyone has any thoughts to share about why,first,m/m slash is so appealing to het women, and secondly, does anyone else like rps better than fps and if so,why? i can't really figure out why i prefer it myself yet.
my faves are billy and dom,not necessarily together!

Welcome to fandom!

Greetings Redvardo!

I have no brilliant insights to share with you on WHY some us like slash, or where these odd urges come from. Heck -- I can't figure out why people drive SUVs or like cell phones, so I'm clearly out of the loop. But I can let you know that you're welcome here and I hope you find some stories that you enjoy.

Hello there =)

Firstly, I'm not exactly sure why I love slash. I don't read it for any sexual reason or anything, I think I have just always liked the thought of men liking other men since I was little.

I like rps better than fps because I like to think that maybe it could really happen =)

Hey hey :-)

I'm fairly new to fanficdom as well and have the same kind of wonderings. I'm more hetflex, but even as a woman, I'd rather read male rps more than female, nine times out of ten. I bet the whole celebrity ideal image thing has something to do with it--I mean, the LOTR actors are absolutely gorgeous (and we don't really get to see them when they're not, fortunately or no).

I've always had my "pet obsessions" since my preteen years--Christian Bale, then Jude Law, then Heath Ledger, and now Orlando Bloom. But until I began investigating my own sexual sides (I think there are more than one...), I only thought about hottie actors as hetero. But the idea of two (or more) beautiful guys for the price of one daydream fantasy is a more appealing now that sex in general is less intimidating.

Not sure if that relates to what attracted you to rps, but in any case, welcome to the community! :-)

Dunno. It's one of the things I ponder about periodically. But then, why is the idea of two women together appealing to the majority of het men..? Has to be much the same reasons I would have thought. Although it's always been 'acceptable' for men to have that fantasy, but only of late has it become more accepted for women. I spent many years assuming I was just a freak cos you never ever found another woman who would admit to thinking about two guys that way!

1. Some of us aren't het.
2. Some of us have had a relationship with 2 bi guys.
3. It's fun, imagining these guys. :
