Fic: The House Party
The House Party
Viggo/Elijah
NC-17
Don't know these lovely people. No offence intended or money made.
This is an AU, set in the 1920s in an English country house. Elijah is down from University to stay with his friend Dominic, and Viggo is - what he is. A protege, if you will. The link will take you off site.

i was wondering if you had taken inspiration from the movie Gosford Park ? i loved it and thought of it a lot while reading your story.
:)
Re:
Actually, the 'inspiraton' was something much more mundane than Gosford Park. I was walking around town with a friend one day and we came upon an old retro shop with a mannequin in the window wearing lots of 1920s clothes, and we both said how great Elijah would look in them, and then it went onto how great he'd look in tennis whites - and this is what happened. Odd, because I hardly mention what he's wearing, but in my mind, it's always white!

Re:
I'm sure that I will revisit these two at some point in the future - they were too much fun for me to leave alone, and they do still have a few weeks before the summer is over!

"Oh, I never win the pretty lady," Elijah said, trying not to let the smile become a smirk. "But that’s all right."
"Your time will come," assured the Colonel in what he obviously considered a consoling fashion.
"And soon," Viggo added. Elijah looked down at his plate to hide his smile.
That was my favourite, just because it made me smile! Thank you so much for writing it!
(one thing - servants were supposed to get in and out of the guest rooms in the morning without waking the guests. They lit the fires, even in the morning, and then a different servant, a higher ranking one, would lay out clothes. But it's such a little criticism, and only because I'm a historian, that it doesn't detract in the slightest!)
Re:
I'm really glad you enjoyed it - it's my first foray into this pairing, and I was amazed at just how much fun it was to write. Thank you for the lovely f/b.

You totally made this pairing work without resorting to angst or OOCness. And I love the setting.
Beautiful writing, perhaps a bit commaish at times, though that's easy to ignore when the story and characters are so captivating.
Brilliant job! I can't wait to read more of this pairing from you!
Re:
The most awkward part was undoubtedly trying to think what to do with Dominic - how fortunate for one of those unspecified debilitating illnesses.
Pleased you enjoyed the setting - it just seemed right for these two - both slightly 'exotic' and out of place in a hot, lazy summer.
