Introducing
Karl clutched his stomach as he laughed hysterically. He stopped abruptly as he remembered what he had regretfully forgotten...

Karl had woke up that afternoon later than he had planned due to a knock on the door. He rolled out of bed and pulled on a clean pair of boxers. When he opened the door he saw a bouquet of flowers stemming up from a pair of gangly legs. Karl smiled as Billy peeked his head around the huge arrangement.

"Hey Babe," Billy grinned, "Happy Valentine's Day!"
Karl filled a vase with water and placed the bouquet in it. He then walked over to Billy and wrapped his arms around his waist and kissed him gently on the lips. Karl's hands lingered in the small of Billy's back when he realized that he forgot to get Billy anything. His worries were suddenly forgotten once he felt Billy kissing his chest. Karl's hair rose on the back of his neck with pleasure. Karl shuddered and fell back on the bed. He closed his eyes expecting Billy to finish what he had started, but instead, Billy turned on the radio and began dancing to a little INXS. Billy’s tongue was hanging out of his mouth in an attempt at looking sexy. He unbuttoned his shirt to the beat and swung it around above his head. He pointed his finger at Karl and tossed his shirt in his direction. Karl pulled the shirt off of his head and threw it back at Billy, who then stuck it between his legs and thrusted his way towards the bed. Karl clutched his stomach as he laughed hysterically. He stopped abruptly as he remembered that he forgot to get Billy anything. Not only was it Valentine’s Day, but also their one-year anniversary.

“What’s wrong?” Billy asked. He glanced at Karl’s lap. “Did my dancing turn you off?” Karl gave a fake chuckle and made up an excuse. “I just don’t feel well... I want to be alone...”
“But today is our day– you... didn’t forget, did you?” Karl’s face confirmed Billy’s suspicion. “Wow. Well, Karl, if today doesn’t mean anything to you, then it doesn’t mean anything to me either!”

Billy stormed out leaving Karl alone. He sat on his bed in a daze. He fucked up big time. All sights and sounds swam around his head making no sense at all. His eyes welled up and his lip quivered. But then, as if some magic was at work, he heard something that rang out clearly. In his rage, Billy had neglected the radio, and now it was playing Sinead O’Connor’s “In This Heart.” Karl sat still and listened closely to the lyrics. “I know this song,” he said to himself, “This is the song Billy and I were listening to the first time we made sexy!” He was reveling in the memories of that night when he got an idea. He quickly got dressed and ran out the door.

[...]

Billy answered his door, but no one was there. He looked down and saw a newspaper. He picked it up. It had a post-it note attached to it. “Proceed to page D-5.” He did so, and a letter fell out. He picked it up and read it.

“This is my grief for you
for only the loss of you
the hurting of you
My love.
-Karl”

Billy looked at the newspaper and saw an ad circled. He laughed. He looked at his watch and left immediately. He got to Karl’s house and saw a note taped to the door telling him to go in the back. Billy unlocked the gate and saw Karl waiting for him in his brand new hot tub.

“I knew you’d come.” Karl said as he turned on the radio.
“Hey, isn’t this–“ Billy began.
“Yeah...”
Billy blushed and looked down at his feet. He was then slapped in the face with Karl’s dripping wet trunks.
“Want to re-live the memories?” Karl asked jerking his eyebrows.
“Shiiiit. I’ve been waiting all day; I thought you’d never ask!”
Billy stripped off all his clothes and slipped into the hot tub next to Karl. Yeah, they re-lived the memories all right... many, many times.
