Title: Icarus
Author: Amanda
Rating: R
Pairing: Dombilly
Summary: Dom flies too close to the sun.
Disclaimer: This never happened. It is simply the product of a fevered imagination.
Author's Note: This is my first Lotrips story. Please be kind.

Dom vibrates like a taut wire. Pluck him and he sings.

He feels as though a thousand butterflies are playing hopscotch on his insides. He pulls Billy into a crushing embrace, hoping that he will feel it too. Billy's breath hitches; he opens his mouth to speak but Dom quickly covers it with his own, clenching his jaw to stop the chattering of his teeth. He bites down on Billy's lower lip and Billy lets out a surprised, indignant squeak. Billy's hand snakes around Dom's back, bringing him even closer. The butterflies flutter between them and Dom knows that Billy can feel it, but he also knows that it's not enough. He wants Billy to feel this way, wants Billy to be able to crawl inside and experience this strange quivering ecstasy.

If this is being alive, then Dom was born this night.

Dom's mind is vibrating now, thoughts snapping like too-tight guitar strings. He can catch only two words: Billy. Fuck. Fuck Billy. But he's scared to take Billy, scared that he'll vibrate so much that it will shatter Billy into a million grains of dust. His breath catches in his throat. The thought cracks and dissolves and he forgets why he ever thought that fucking Billy could possibly be a bad idea.

Dom is terrified that he will never feel this good again.

The butterflies cheer and applaud as he enters Billy, and the vibrations double and double again until Dom feels as though he's having an earthquake in his own skin. He's flying, flying apart, and he has no idea how he'll come back together. Then he realizes that Billy can put him back together; Billy is still on the ground.

Dom can't reach the ground. The ground is lost to him.

"You're too close to the sun, Dom."

"Never."

"Your wings will melt."

"You'll catch me."

Dom knows his wings won't melt. He knows he's not coming down. Billy may have to stay on the ground with the mortals, but Dom flies with the gods. The gods are inside him, shaking him, filling him, just like he's filling Billy right now.

Dom flies too close to the sun, but it's okay. Billy is always there to catch him.

Wow, I really like the way you used the story of icarus but made it seem like something completely new, and I love the guitar string/earthquake metaphors. Brilliant! well, hehe, brilliant in a way only fangirls would understand.

Dom's mind is vibrating now, thoughts snapping like too-tight guitar strings.

I can just hear the buzz of wound steel; it is a very fitting sound for Dom.

Dom feels as though he's having an earthquake in his own skin.

Lots of people use the "vibrating" motif for Dom. It's certainly appropriate, but I was almost worried when I saw the cut with the first line: will it be overused? No, you recast the entire notion and made it tense, harmonious. Plus, definitive ecstasy and the invoking of Icarus...? Guh.

This is gorgeous.
