Chapter 7 – Dom and Alex
Dominic walked away from the group of people he was standing with, and pressed the answer phone button on his mobile, then he placed the phone to his ear.
“Hey, Dom!”
With a quick flick of a finger, Dominic turned the phone off and slipped it back into his jacket pocket. “Yes?”
“Taxi’s here!”
Dominic nodded and walked over to rejoin the other members of the cast. Shooting didn’t normally finish until late in the evening. To finish this early was a rare occasion, and the actors as well as some of the crew were about to make the most of it.
The taxi dropped everyone off outside a small bar, in the neighbouring village where they were filming. The group made their way inside the tatty looking building; it was dark and fairly quiet. Alex soon got in the first round.
“Dom?” Alex called over to Dominic. “What are you having?”
“Oh, just a beer?” Dominic had taken a seat by a small wooden table and once again had his mobile phone in his hand. “Fuck…” Now there was no bloody signal. He really needed to call Elijah, like right now. And he badly needed to speak to his daughters. He had only briefly spoken to Elijah once since he had been here, and that conversation had ended so fucking badly.
“Here.” Alex plonked himself down heavily next to Dominic.
“Thanks.” Dominic took a long drink from the neck of the bottle. The beer was icy cold, and tasted good.
“It’s been a long day, a long week… and boy do I need to get laid.” Alex sighed as he looked around the bar.
Dominic half choked on his beer, a little surprised by that unexpected announcement.
“Maybe I’ll get lucky tonight, eh Dom?” Alex nudged Dominic’s arm as he drained his bottle in one go. He stood up. “Do you want another?”
Dominic nodded as he watched Alex get up from his seat and walk over to the bar. Alex was the second assistant director, and he was a hard worker, on set. He was always by the director’s side from the crack of dawn until the sun went down. He was young and enthusiastic and willing to work, never arguing, and always co-operative.
Now who did that remind him of? Dominic smiled inwardly as he recalled the early shoots for the Fellowship of the Ring. Elijah was only 18 years old then. Young, enthusiastic and fucking gorgeous. But that seemed like a very long time ago. The Elijah he knew now was older, tired, a fucking moody cunt, but still gorgeous. And still beautiful…he hadn’t changed one bit in appearance, not like himself. God, he really had to try and call him. Maybe there was a pay phone somewhere in the bar. Dominic glanced around the gloomy interior and decided that when it was his turn to buy the drinks, he’d find a phone and call Lij.
*
“So… Dommie…” Alex smiled at Dominic, as he placed his empty beer bottle amongst the gathering hoard of them on their table. He was totally unaware that he had used Elijah’s pet name.
In fact, Dominic wasn’t sure that Alex knew about Elijah and their daughters. He had decided to keep his family and home life very private while he was on set. Gay families might be more acceptable these days, but there were still those who held very strong and negative views about them.
“We have some time off after next weekend.” Alex continued. “What do you say to us doing something?”
Doing something? Dominic frowned as he turned to look into Alex’s face.
“You know, we could take off to the coast, and do a bit of surfing, that sort of thing.”
Surfing… When was the last time that he had surfed? Come to that, when was the last time that he and Elijah had surfed together? A long time ago, that was when. Before Sian was born. And God, he missed it. He remembered the thrill of the wave, the feel of sand under his feet… the coldness of Elijah’s salty lips pressed against his whenever they were anywhere near each other.
“Dom?”
Dominic blinked hard, and took another drink. He really had to call Elijah.
**
Alex was fun. Dominic was really beginning to enjoy spending off-set time with him. His youth and his nonchalant attitude brought back so many memories of his early years spent with Elijah. Those carefree years, when he and Elijah were both young, with not a worry in the world, except perhaps when they were going to fuck next.
Dominic found himself joining Alex every night after filming, usually for a drink at the local bar near the studios. Dominic began to realise that he hadn’t felt this relaxed in ages. Alex was making him laugh… Alex was even making him happy, and gradually Alex was beginning to make him forget about his family back home.
Home… he hadn’t called. He deliberately kept his phone switched off now. He was being a fucking bastard, and he knew it. He’d now left it so long in calling that he knew any call that he did make would just end up in a massive argument. He would get grief from Elijah. Elijah would argue and moan, and to be honest, he could really do without it. But he did miss his daughters. Dominic kept on playing their messages over and over again on his mobile. He would definitely phone home, this weekend, without fail. If only to speak to Sian and Jamie.
**
The sun was blazing down, and the sea was crystal blue. It was a beautiful beach. Dominic thought that Elijah would love this beach. He pushed that thought away as he helped Alex unpack the van that they had hired for a couple of days. The small guesthouse that they were staying in was far from top notch, but adequate. They dumped their bags in their rooms and then collected their surfboards and quickly headed for the beach.
Alex was good at surfing, but Dominic felt a little rusty. It had been a long time since he had donned a wetsuit, let alone stood on a board.
“Hey, not bad!” Alex laughed at Dominic, as he eventually swept up on the beach, managing to remain on the board until the very last second. “You know, you’re quite good. Where did you learn?”
“Here in New Zealand.” Dominic flopped down onto the wet sand next to Alex. “Eleven years ago.” Jesus, was it that long?
“I was ten back then, wow!” Alex lay back down on the wet sand and stared up into the blue sky.
Dominic watched him, and he was suddenly taken aback by how beautiful he thought Alex looked. Fuck…he found that he couldn’t take his eyes off Alex’s body…the wetsuit was moulded to his every curve and his hair was sticking to his face in small dark curls, seawater still dripping from the individual strands.
Alex became aware that Dominic was looking at him… no not just looking – staring. He turned his head slowly to Dominic and smiled. “Everything all right, Dom?” he asked.
Dominic swallowed hard, and nodded as he dropped his eyes to look at the sand. But no it fucking wasn’t.
*
The back of the guesthouse opened up onto the beach. With a beer in hand, Alex and Dominic wandered out onto the cool damp sand. The moon was full, and the air clear, with only a slight chill to it.
Alex lent back against the wooden fence, which acted as the guesthouse’s boundary wall.
“It’s peaceful,” he looked at Dominic and saw him staring at him again. “No cameras or anyone barking orders.”
Dominic nodded but didn’t say anything. The moonlight made Alex’s skin look like porcelain, his dark hair, blowing in the light breeze just added a frame to the beauty that he saw. Elijah would look like this; Elijah always looked like this… my God what is happening…
“Dom…” Alex placed his bottle down on the ground. “Dom…”
Dominic didn’t move.
“Dom, come here, there’s something I want to show you…”
Alex offered his hand out to Dominic and led him out through the gate at the rear of the property. It creaked loudly as it swung open on rusty hinges. They both stepped out onto the deserted beach.
Dominic could feel his pulse racing. Alex was still holding his hand, and it felt warm in his, and he knew this was it. Dominic knew he was going to kiss Alex, and he couldn’t fucking stop himself; he didn’t want to stop himself. He really wanted this. Fuck! He didn’t want this. He loved Elijah…he did love him… he did….
“There’s no-one here, Dom.” Alex’s voice was a whisper as he turned to look into Dominic’s eyes. “Only us.” Dominic felt Alex tug him towards him, and he fucking went, willingly.
Oh God…Dominic closed his eyes as their lips met, gently at first, and then harder. Then their kiss became more demanding, full of want, full of passion.
Dominic felt his body burning… burning with absolute desire for this man now in his arms. And it was a desire and need so strong, that he knew he would not be able to stop it. It had always been like this with Elijah, this was how he always used to feel when Elijah kissed him, and held him.
Dominic felt Alex’s hand lower to cup his groin, and he groaned into Alex’s mouth at the contact. It had always been like this…
**
Daybreak… and guilt. Fucking heavy guilt. Dominic stared at the peeling paint on the ceiling above him. He felt Alex stir and mumble as he turned over in his sleep next to him.
Shit… what had he fucking done? Fuck, fuck, fuck…
Dominic looked at the man asleep by his side. Alex… fuck it… FUCK IT! Jesus Christ!
“Hmmm… morning…” Alex opened his eyes and smiled at Dominic. Then he moved in to kiss Dominic on the lips, but Dominic quickly sat up.
“Need to piss…” It was a feeble excuse, but it was all Dominic could think of. He closed the bathroom door behind him, and then leant his back against it. Now what the fuck was he supposed to do? Fucking idiot Monaghan!
Dominic decided to take a long shower. He had to try and figure things out. Last night with Alex was… well... it was nothing short of incredible. Alex’s mouth on him. Jesus… his cock buried deep inside him. My God… now what? Shit… shit… shit! This is bad. Last night was fucking good. Bloody hell!
Dominic switched the shower on to cold, and just stood in its icy spray.
“Dom!”
Dominic heard a knock on the door, but he had locked it, and had decided it would be best to ignore it, for now anyway, until he could get his thoughts clear inside his head.
“Dom!” Alex knocked again.
“I’m sorry.” Alex spoke into the mouthpiece of the phone. “He’s in the shower right now. I’ll get him to call you right back, is that ok?”
Alex picked up the tatty guesthouse notepad, and a broken pencil. He scribbled the name and telephone number down of the caller, hung up and then hammered on the bathroom door again.
“Dom, there’s some sort of emergency!”
*
Elijah. Elijah had called the guesthouse. Elijah had spoken to Alex. Dominic was well and truly fucked!
“I don’t know, Dom.” Alex looked into Dominic’s worried face. “He probably got the number from Mike, he’s the one manning the phones back at the studios.”
“And you told Mike where we were both going?” Dominic could feel panic welling up inside him.
“Dom it’s policy, you know that. We always have to leave a contact address.” Alex eyed Dominic standing there dripping wet in front of him, a towel hanging loosely around his waist.
“Want to fuck first, or make the call?” Alex reached out to tug the towel free.
“For Christ sake, Alex.” Dominic turned away and began getting himself dressed. Emergency? What sort of fucking emergency?
Alex sat down on the bed a frown creased his brow as he watched Dominic hastily dress himself. “Who is this Elijah anyway, Dom?” he asked.
“No-one.” Dominic snapped back. Everyone… fucking hell…
“Well…” Alex’s voice had a hint of resignation to it. “I think you had better call him, he did sound upset.”
“Right…” Dominic picked up his jacket, which had been dumped on the floor the night before, and pulled out his mobile phone. “Right…” he repeated again. He looked at Alex, sitting so innocently on the bed. Jesus…what a fuck up. Then he opened the bedroom door and stepped out into the hallway.
Deep breaths… keep calm… it’ll be all right… “Fuck!” Dominic dialed in the number that Alex had written down. It was answered on the second ring. Some fucking hospital… what the fuck was going on?
“Umm… is Elijah Wood there?” Dominic tried to keep his voice steady. Something dreadful had happened, he was sure of it. While he was fucking another man, something awful had happened to his family.
“One moment…” The voice at the other end sounded crisp and authoritive.
Christ, what is it… what is it? What’s happened?
“Dom?” Elijah’s voice sounded very thick and heavy on the other end of the line.
“Christ, Elijah.” Dominic suddenly felt like bawling his eyes out at the sound of Elijah’s voice.
“Dom, you need to come home.”
“What’s happened, Lij?” Dominic could feel his stomach knotting, and turning. It was one of the girls. He just knew it. Something had happened to one of his daughters.
“Dom, it’s Jamie… she is so sick… she’s all wired up here… and…and…” Elijah’s voice began to break down. There was a moment’s silence before he was able to continue. “Please, Dom, please just come home. You have to come home.”
“I’m on my way, Lij… give me the address of the hospital.” Dominic closed his eyes as he listened to Elijah’s voice. It sounded so quiet and so utterly weary. “I’ll be there by this evening… and Lij. Just hold on…” Then Dominic ended the call.
His mind was spinning, whirling… fuck, what was he going to do? Jamie… sick… ok...right… he could get a plane, that’d be quicker… what about the movie? Christ, fuck the movie… Elijah sounded bad, really bad… he had to get there… it’d be all right once he was there… Elijah needed him… Jesus…Alex! Fuck, fuck, fuck!
“Dom?”
Dominic spun around as Alex opened the bedroom door. Christ he felt like he was going to throw up.
“Are you, ok?” Alex took hold of Dominic’s hand and pulled him back into the bedroom. “You don’t look ok.”
“Oh God, Alex…” Dominic felt his eyes brimming with tears. “It’s my daughter, she’s in hospital.”
“Daughter?” Alex looked at Dominic in confusion.
“I have to go to her, I have to go to my family…” Dominic went over to his bag and picked it up.
“Family?”
“Yes, Alex. Fucking family!” Dominic suddenly felt very angry.
Alex felt like he had been punched in the stomach by this revelation. He looked at Dominic for more of an explanation but could see none coming.
“Alex…” Dominic walked over to the bedroom door. He opened it and then looked back over his shoulder. “I have to go… I’m sorry.”
Alex sat himself down on the bed that he had just shared with Dominic. He stared at the door as it closed behind Dominic’s retreating body. Then he was alone.

... a-guh.
Okay, better now. :D I like this! Wow talk about dysfunctional though; I think I need to go read the previous chapters. But it's great so far, am really loving it.
However, you have GOT to tell me: what pic is that icon from? It looks like it would be a Theban Band manip but, er, I don't remember seeing that one...
no subject
As for the manip. I make all my own manips, and this one is causing quite a stir to say the least!

Then there's Alex. That kiss...damn that was nice. But then bad. And stupid stupid stupid mistake on Dom's part. But the description and such- still very nice.
“Dom, it’s Jamie… she is so sick… she’s all wired up here… and…and…” Elijah’s voice began to break down. There was a moment’s silence before he was able to continue. “Please, Dom, please just come home. You have to come home.”
I got all scared and god, you have me crying and ...woah.
Why did it have to end there? Now I'm all fidgety and nervous to know what happens next.
It was very good though.
