Orlijah Month Advance Prompt Update
Welcome to the release of the Orlijah_Month Advance Prompts.
After listening to your excellent suggestions, we are pleased to bring you The Orlijah Month Prompt Table.
itstonedme and I are posting half of the prompts now so that come the first of January,
orlijah_month will hit the ground running.
The remaining prompts will be posted and linked to the table on the corresponding day in January.
Due to the vagaries of lj, you can’t ‘Out of Order Date’ things in a community as you can in your own journal. I have been FORCED! FORCED, I TELL YOU! to post the prompts in my own journal. As each date in January arrives, I will repost *grumbles* the Advanced Prompts and post the Hidden Prompts in
orlijah_month.
Listed under the prompt table is a ‘How to…’ for participating in Orlijah_Month.
If you have any questions about that or anything else pertaining to Orlijah_Month, please ask away! Have a fun and fantastic Orlijah_Month. We are very much looking forward to seeing you there.
If you haven’t yet joined
orlijah_month do it now! :D

If I understand the instructions,(a)I write directly on my Journal page and (b)Include the prompt number in the header. The date I select has the prompt which dictates my entry, right? Then what? How does the 'link' occur? Or, conversely, I write directly on orlijan_month page (?)
Told you - totally lost!

Writing in Word is not problem as anything you write can be copied and pasted into your journal or Orlijah_Month.
How do I add a link to another journal or web site? (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=67)
This link will show you how I created the link. It goes to LiveJournal FAQ #67. :)
It also shows you how to link to a user's journal or a comm - for example:
I have a word doc with the 'code' I like to use, which I just copy and paste into a post and edit the name or the URL to the person. comm or page I want to link to.
All code is surrounded by angle brackets. I don't know what they are called - little arrow heads pointing to the left or the right. I am going to replace them with [ ] square brackets so you can see what I've typed to get the various links.

If I used the triangles, you would see a link and not the code.
One last thing - as an lj courtesy - if you make a large post always put it behind an lj-cut. When you post to a community or your journal everyone who is watching that journal as a friend will see what you have posted in your Friends page. Filling up someone's friends list with one post is NOT friendly! If you post a long document put it behind a LJ-cut. This hides everything after the lj-cut until you click on it. When you view the post the lj-cut is not visible.
This is it - all you have to do is replace the [] with triangle brackets and it will work.
[lj-cut text="Read more"]
I suggest you have a play in your journal. Try using these codes and linking to friends usernames and journal or to favourite fics or websites. It really is very easy if a little time consuming.
Do make sure join go to
Let me know how you get on. Good Luck!

So, come the first of Jan I will repost Prompt 1 in
Prompt 2 is a Hidden Prompt and will posted on the second. This is how
Each day I'll either repost an Advance Posted Prompt or a new Hidden Prompt.
You will need to join the community to get notification of when a prompt is posted.
I hope this answers your questions, but if you have any more please let me know.

I may be bugging you after that as I'm still not sure how to go about
submitting my entry. But - "I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.'

We asked people who had participated before in Orlijah Month if they wanted to know prompts in advance or on the day. The results were pretty much a 50/50 split so that's how we're working this year.
You are welcome to post directly to the comm, but if it's more than a drabble you must put it been an lj-cut as I described above. You can then make a post in your journal that points to the post in Orlijah Month.
As I mentioned, have a play in your own journal, it takes all the scariness away. :D
