Ambiguously gay duos?

I was wondering if I could ask this community for recommendations. I'm sorry that I don't have a fanart or fanfic myself to offer, but I thought that of all the communities, who would know best but a LOTR slash comm?

I'm looking for books with characters that are as extremely, brotherly-lovish close as FrodoxSam or MerryxPippin. It can be any genre of book at all, it can vary in degrees of 'closeness', but I just want to find some good, highly-slashable reads. I would prefer that the characters be *somewhat* in the main cast, so to speak. It's not too fun to read through 600 pages of a so-so book for the cute couple in pages 578-580, ya know? Haha.  Also, hurt/comforty scenes are the best, if you know any books good for them. What's cuter than one tending to the other during a miserable sickness? Mwaaaaaah. *melts*

I think the best book I've read so far that shows such deep and everlasting friendship is The Farseer Trilogy and the Tawny Man trilogy, both by Robin Hobb, the latter taking place after the former. If you're into that kind of brotherly-love relationship, you cannot go wrong with those series. FitzxFool is the best.

Thanks so much for any recommendations you can give me!!! Mods, if this post is not allowed I'm so sorry. Just let me know and I'll take it down.

Marion Zimmer Bradley "Sharrah's Exile" and the Voldemor books of Mercedes Lackey...specifically the Last Herald Mage trilogy. If you already know Tanya Huff, you probably know of these, but they're great reads for just the kinds of things you're look for, I think.
And there's some nice fanfic for Pern, with Dominic and Elijah (or Billy?) as protagonists.

Lynn Flewelling's Nightrunner series is definitly slashy, they even go further ^^ the main characters Alec and Seregil are a wonderful couple of characters and the story's good (and quite a few hurt/comfort scenes in there if I remember ^^)

How about if you just put 90% of it under an < lj-cut > tag. Show the first sentence of the second paragraph, and cut the rest, and it won't impinge too much. -- moderator

Twins by Bari Wood is a dramatic book, not so cutsie, but definitely h/c and brotherly love (literally). I know there's more, just this is the only one that comes to mind at the moment.

Good luck
