The Mirror, 20th December
Spotted in London today: Elijah Wood doing some lonely Christmas shopping.....Orlando Bloom and new guy Dom Monaghan lunching in the Ivy....
***
Elijah examined the pasta machine half-heartedly. Christmas shopping wasn't really his thing - he had been tempted to do it all online but then decided he needed to get out f the flat for a while. Orlando, although his clothes were gone, had left other things behind him - music, books, ornaments - and they all reminded Elijah of him.
£69.99? Surely that was a bit dear for a small machine that you put dough into? Elijah picked up the box and turned it over, looking for some kind of price-reduction tag.
"Is that...Look over there, Kate - "
"Oh my God, I think it is....Do you think we should - "
"Like, of course!"
Elijah glanced round, just in time to see two teenage girls approaching. He braced himself mentally.
"Hi," one of them said breathlessly. "Are you Elijah Wood?"
"Erm, yeah," Elijah said, miserably.
"Oh my God, I knew it!" the other squeaked.
Elijah gave a quick half smile, and put the past machine down. The girls gave scarily wide grins.
"Can we have an autograph?" one asked.
"And a photo? Here, I have my camera," the other said.
"No, sorry," Elijah said, more firmly than he ever had done before. "I'm afraid I'm really quite busy - "
"Oh, come on, just your initials...."
Elijah sighed, and scrawled 'EW' on the back of the receipt the girl handed him.
"Thanks," she said, beaming.
"Any time," Elijah said wearily, as they left, giggling and whispering.

On the other side of the Thames, Orlando Bloom was entering a large office, with huge windows overlooking the city.
"Ah, Mr Bloom!" A tall woman with platinum hair stood up. "How nice you could make it!"
"It's nothing," Orlando said. He took the seat offered on the other side of the desk as the woman set up a small recording device.
"Testing, testing, one two." She played it back. "Exellent. For the record, the date is the 20th of December 2008, interviewer Susie Macintosh-Jones, interviewee Orlando Bloom." She glanced down at a list of questions. "So, Orlando. Tell me the reasons why you dumped Elijah Wood."

Exclusive Interview with Orlando Bloom!
Our reporter Susie Macintosh-Jones spoke exclusively in a Q&A session yesterday with TV presenter Orlando Bloom, 31. Among subjects covered are his public break-up with singer Elijah Wood, 27, and his new relationship with co-host Dom Monaghan, 32.
OB: Y'know, Elijah and I just reached a point where we couldn't continue. I played my part in the relationship, but he didn't want to play his. It was a shame...
SM-J: Are the rumours of a six-month affair with Dom Monaghan true?
OB: Erm....well, yes, they are. I wanted to give Elijah more of a chance, so I wanted to stay with him - but at the same time, I needed more from the relationship. That was where Dom came in. We were spending so much time together anyway, filming, and as friends, that it came naturally.
SM-J: Have you been speaking to Elijah? How's he taking this?
OB: He's not taking it too well, to be honest. Elijah is a little clingy - he was too dependant on me, I always thought. He's not used to standing on his own two feet...
SM-J: There has been talk that the sex between you two wasn't good.
OB: That's true, actually. With every other partner I've ever had, the sex has always been amazing. Elijah, I guess, just was never very good at it.

Elijah scrunched the paper up. "F**king Orlando Bloom, who does he think he is? He can't go saying all that stuff to a newspaper, can he?" That lump in his throat was there to stay, he thought regretfully.
His and Viggo's agent and manager, Helen Worthing, sighed. "Well....technically, yes. He hasn't committed libel or slander or anything. I'm sorry, Lijah."
Viggo put his arm round Elijah's thin back. "He's a b*****d. You can do better than him anyway."
Elijah sniffed sadly. "I did love him, Viggo."
"I know you did," Viggo said softly. Helen sat down on Elijah's other side.
"Honey," she said tentatively, "there have been loads of tabloids looking to speak to you. Would you like to do any of them, or would you like to keep quiet? It's up to you, whatever you feel like."
"I don't want to talk to them," Elijah said, quietly but firmly. "What would I say? Yes, I'm crap at sex?"
Viggo sighed, squeezed his shoulder lightly.
"I'm not clingy," Elijah said, into the silence. "I don't cling, do I?"
