I give up, I kept coming up with scenarios that I've been through myself that made me think that very line, but they're just too long for the answer box, so here's a couple for ya, just for the heck of it:
- Your friends, who arn't even in fandom, start telling you that movies they like are slashy, just to get you to watch them.

- It no longer disturbs you that you compare your best friend and yourself to characters that you slash. ie: "You're so Merry, and I'm your Pippin!"

- You buy pets in pairs, so you can name them properly. "These are my fish. That one's Jim, and the little one is Blair..."

- You accidentally recommend movies to your mother by telling her "They're so slashy!"

I could probably come up with a ton more, if I thought about it, but it might be better if I don't *snicker*
