Summary: An AU based very loosely on the film The History Boys that starts in sixth form and becomes uni!fic after a couple of chapters. In this chapter, Dom goes to Oxford, but Billy is still very much in the picture.
A/N: Any poetry in this part is written by V but she hopes you will not consider it evidence of her actual poetic ability as it was written very quickly.

A fortnight later, Dom and his family were stood on the platform, waiting for the train to Oxford to come in, along with the rest of the boys and their families. Dom had managed to stop Elijah's intense round of questioning by completely ignoring him, but was dreading the journey down when he would inevitably be subject to even more questions.

"You've got your wallet? And your lunch for the train?"

"Yes, dad," Dom sighed, trying not to roll his eyes. They were his parents after all, and worrying was what they did.

Leaving Billy was a bit harder than he'd expected. They'd seen each other a couple of days ago, but his family had insisted that he spend time with them, instead of "staying with Lij". There'd been a few tears, lots of kissing and a fair amount of sex, and Dom had slipped a discreet-looking bracelet into Billy's pocket on his way out of the door, which was really just a few pieces of cotton plaited together, but he hoped it would get across what he was trying to say. Think about me.

"You'll ring when you get there?"

"Promise, mam," Dom said, shifting one of his boxes on the floor so that it looked neater. "Oh! I haven't got a drink," he realised, digging some money out of his pocket. "Back in a tic," he said, and walked off to the vending machine.

Orange Crush... no... Diet Coke... blech, definitely no...

"Surprise," a familiar voice whispered in Dom's ear, a hand over his mouth cutting off the instinctive yelp. He looked down and saw a wrist wrapped in a few pieces of cotton, plaited together.

"Billy!"

"One and the same," Billy replied, grinning as Dom whirled around to give him a hug. "I feel like a bloody stalker," he joked, gesturing to the fisherman's hat and shades he was wearing, "but I was afraid Elijah would be here and give me away. I know you have to get back to your family, but I just wanted to say goodbye to you again, lad. Clichéd as it is, I've been missing you already."

"Oh, I..." Dom moaned and then caught sight of the photobooth next to the vending machine and pulled Billy into it. "You're wearing my...Christ." He pushed his lips against Billy's at the same time he slammed the door shut, hoping that no-one had noticed them.

"Feeling naughty, are we?" Billy asked with a little laugh when Dom finally let go to breathe, before pressing his lips hard back to Dom's again, turning on the little seat so that he was straddling Dom's lap.

"I love you," Dom whispered, hardly daring to believe he'd said it when they pulled apart. He pulled Billy's glasses and hat off then kissed him again, cupping his face in large hands. "I should've told you before but I – I'm so in love with you."

Billy blinked, looking at Dom as if he were waiting for a retraction. "You... I... damnit, I'm going to hell again!" he finally spluttered out, laughing and shaking his head and pushing his face into Dom's neck all at once. "I love you, too," he mumbled into Dom's neck, his cheeks turning crimson.

"You love me?" Dom breathed, his eyes wide. "I, oh God, I just..."

"Why are you surprised?" Billy asked, smiling and pulling back a little so that Dom could see his face, ruffling Dom's hair. "You just told me you love me, you didn't expect that I feel the same way about you?"

"I well, uh, no," Dom mumbled, blushing. "I mean, I knew you liked me, but I thought it'd take, you know, a while. Oh, I don't want to go," Dom whinged, kissing Billy again.

"The term isn't that long, love, and I'll visit any weekend that I can and that you want me there," Billy promised. "And as for it taking a while, you have to remember, I'm thirty five years old, lad. I've had plenty of time to experiment and have casual things, but I'm just not looking for that right now. If I was, I certainly wouldn't have made a move with you, because you're young and innocent and you deserve more than just some little fling. I assumed you knew how serious I was about this... I just thought you would need more time, I mean, to decide what you want."

"I think I loved you from the first time you kissed me," Dom said, perhaps a bit dramatically, but truthfully. "What we have...it's just like...like Oscar and Bosie and...and Whitman and I wouldn't swap it for the world. You've still got those sketches you did of me?"

Billy grinned and nodded. "They're all at my house. I wish I were a better painter so that I could do a painting and frame it, but alas, my talent stops with the pencil. And incidentally, I'm fine with these analogies but can our relationship not culminate in your father getting me thrown in jail, please? I like my freedom."

"I'm nineteen!" Dom protested, giving Billy a playful shove and then kissing him soundly, grabbing a handful of his arse. "Oh, fuck, I should go," he sighed, closing his eyes and resting his head against the back of the photobooth. "No, wait-" he fetched some more coins out of his pocket and shoved them into the machine. "I need a photo of you and me for my bedside table. Now smile."

The flash went off just as Billy wrapped his arms around Dom and grinned for the camera. For the second picture, Billy kissed Dom's cheek, and for the third he grabbed the hat and shades and put them quickly on Dom, who was giggling loudly.

Still laughing, Dom tugged the hat and shades off then backed Billy against the wall of the photobooth, kissing him passionately for the fourth picture. When it came out, Dom pointed and giggled at the fact that most of it was the back of the booth, and the two of them had been squeezed into the corner. "I love you," he said, "and I'm going to miss you so, so much. I'll ring when I get there, alright?"

"See that you do," Billy agreed, kissing him once more. "All right, off you get. Don't go run off with any highly attractive Oxford boys, or I might have to take the train down and kill them."

"Not a chance, my love. Call me wildcat," Dom demanded, grinning and then kissing Billy again, "then I'll go."

Billy laughed and spontaneously kissed Dom hard, not pulling away for a good minute. "My sexy little wildcat," he purred when he finally let Dom go, stroking his face. "Now go and start your studies so that break time will come sooner," he added with a little grin and a wink, shoving Dom towards the curtained entrance to the booth. "Love you."

"Love you more," Dom said, not letting go of Billy's hand until both of their arms were stretched to their full length and he sort of had to. Looking fondly at the photo, Dom smiled and then tucked it in his jacket pocket, walking back over to his family.

"Where've you been?" his brother demanded, "Mam's been going spare and your train's nearly – what's that grin for? You never grin."

Dom just laughed and shook his head. "Tell you soon." Thankfully, the train pulled in then and Dom explained his absence with the broken vending machine excuse and how he'd walked off to find another but that was broken too.

Ten minutes later, he was installed in a seat on the train opposite Elijah, his boxes in the luggage hold. A few feet behind his parents, Dom noticed a man in shades and a hat, waving goodbye. Beaming, Dom threw himself against the window and kissed the glass, hoping that his parents would think it was for them. "I love you," he mouthed, using his breath to mist up the window and then hastily scrawling the same thing, backwards so Billy could see.

"What on earth are you doing?" Elijah asked, giving Dom a strange look. "Who's that?"

"Tell you soon," Dom replied, waving until Billy was out of sight.

~*~

A few weeks into the term, Dom was just getting over the shock of starting university, adjusting to classes, and living on his own for the first time. For the past two weekends he had shut himself up in Hertford's library trying to get ahead on his classes, but he was starting to get restless and couldn't really fathom another Friday evening of studying.

Instead, after dinner in the dining hall with the other students, while most of the boys got ready to go to the college bar or into town, Dom curled up in front of the fire in the dormitory common room with a sheaf of e-mailed poems Billy had sent him over the past few weeks, both ones he thought Dom would like and some of his own, written about "his muse" as he liked to put it.

Your lashes on your cheek like some boy of antiquity,
oblivious to my thoughts of you, both impure and spun from fire.
The flames that lick my soul whenever you are here,
sleeping,
in my bed, Morpheus' companion in a candy-floss cloud.
But I, the lover, the teacher, the friend, sit paralysed by your beauty,
watching in my own mortal coil of love and disbelief.
How can it be, that we are joined without violent crescendo,
as so many tales have climaxed, in a bitter-sharp release?
No you, my love, my perfect boy, you sleep as one untainted,
and perhaps my desire is not so damning as others might proclaim.
For sleep may cleanse and love may render controversy purer.
As I watch you, someone greater yet may now watch over me.

"I'm not sure how I feel about the metre in that one," a teasing voice murmured just over Dom's shoulder, startling him out of his reverie.

"Billy!" Dom cried, turning round and leaning over the chair so fast that it nearly toppled over. "You're...oh, God, you're – kiss me." He yanked Billy closer by his tie – apparently he had come straight from school – and brought their lips together, licking insistently.

Billy laughed and obliged him, slipping his tongue between Dom's lips once he'd calmed down a little and rubbing his hands over Dom's shoulders and arms and then up to tangle in his hair. "I missed you," he explained with a little shrug.

"Oh, I missed you too," Dom said, unable to keep the grin off his face. "Here, come and sit with me. How was your journey down? Did it take long? How's school? Manchester?"

Billy smiled and slid into the oversized chair with Dom, ending up half in his lap. "Manchester and school are the same as they've always been I suppose, though it's strange having normal classes to teach. I think the boys like me all right. The journey was quite easy and pleasant, and I had a ham sandwich and a lemonade and now I am here, with you, so everything is quite right with the world."

"Oh, I'd certainly say so," Dom replied, kissing Billy again. "You know, these poems are just...they're incredible. I was reading some at breakfast the other day and they made me blush and people were questioning me. It's fantastic being your muse, you know."

"What did you tell them?" Billy asked, twirling strands of Dom's hair between his fingers with one hand while he rubbed Dom's neck with the other.

"I just blushed more and mumbled something," Dom replied, grinning sheepishly. "Anyone who's been in my room's asked who the dashing man is in the picture with me, though, and I've told them."

"Told them what, exactly?" Billy asked.

"Told them that that's the man I love. It's wonderful, you know, being here. I don't feel like I have to hide."

"That is wonderful," Billy agreed, trailing his fingers down Dom's cheek. "You know, this was the first place I ever told anyone I was gay. Not everyone took it well, but for the most part everyone minded their own business, and some people were surprisingly supportive. It's a good community, always has been. Are you making friends?"

"Yes," Dom said, nodding and then curling into Billy. "There's a lovely lass called Evelyn whom I'm friends with. She's doing English as well."

"Oh, good. Though you might want to be wary of those English students. They can be a subversive bunch," Billy teased.

"I know they can be," Dom murmured, bringing his and Billy's lips together again, nibbling gently. "Oh, I missed you, I did..." he kissed Billy again, working his tongue inside Billy's mouth and running his hand under Billy's shirt. "Did you, uh, bring some things? You'll be able to stay, won't you? Oh, and I, um, bought some, uh...protection and um, lu-" Dom coughed and blushed, "lubrication."

"Oh, I wouldn't miss a return to college dorm sex for the world," Billy joked, rubbing Dom's blushing cheek with his thumb. "I'm just glad you have a single room."

"Oh, brilliant," Dom whispered, grinning shyly and kissing the palm of Billy's hand. "Anything in particular you'd, uh, like?"

"Well we can get to that later," Billy replied. "What I'd like now is to know why you are sitting alone in the common room with my poetry on a perfectly good Friday night. I expected to have to go a bit further afield to find you, though I'm glad I did."

Dom blushed and hid his head. "I just wanted you. And I'm crap at drinking anyway, and the bar's loud and...well. I was going to ring you after I finished, but you're here now and I suppose I should take you out to re-live the uni experience. Do you uh, fancy going for a drink, then? No-one from school will be there - Twatface thinks it's too downmarket and Lij has taken his new girlfriend to the theatre."

"Elijah has a girlfriend? And it's Twatface now? You do realise I can recall at least a dozen instances in my classroom where you couldn't keep your eyes off said twat's face, right?" Billy laughed and gave Dom's hair another ruffle. "A drink sounds lovely, lad."

"Billy, that was just...misplaced affection," Dom said with a wave of his hand before getting up and pulling Billy with him. "Schoolboy crush, all that sort of shit. You know you can get pissed for a fiver in this bar? We tried it out in Fresher's Week."

"I do seem to recall a very drunk young man ringing me at one in the morning and asking for phone sex, yes."

Dom blushed and thwapped Billy lightly on the arm, leading the way to the stairs. "Come on, you can put your bag in my room and I'll get my coat."

"All right," Billy agreed. "Can we not get pissed for a fiver tonight, though? I'd like to be able to enjoy you thoroughly. It's all that's been on my mind for the past few days, ye ken."

"It has?" Dom asked, raising his eyebrows as he pulled his keys out of his pocket and took Billy's bag, leading the way out of the cosy room. "All that's been on my mind since the last time we did it."

"Trying to one up me?" Billy asked as they climbed the stairs, giving Dom's arse a little smack. "Later, I want to hear all about it. You can tell me exactly what you were recalling, and what you were doing to yourself while you thought about it."

"Oh, shit," Dom hissed, halting their ascent and shoving Billy against the wall of the staircase, kissing him hard and working one leg in between his thighs.

"Sexy little wildcat," Billy growled, hissing as Dom's hand cupped him. "I said later, did I not?"

"But I want you now," Dom protested, biting Billy's neck and mouthing it wetly. "You can't come and surprise me like this and expect me not to get a hard-on at how bloody brilliant it is to have you with me."

"Are you hard already?" Billy returned, reaching down before Dom could reply and gripping his erection. "Brilliant lad. I remember when I used to be just as needy as you were... come on then, show me your bedroom. Suppose we can't very well go to the bar like this."

"Can I use my mouth?" Dom asked eagerly, pulling Billy up the stairs and then turning left onto his corridor. "I've been reading, see, and I think I might be a bit better now, and, oh, this is my room," he said, unlocking the door and flipping the light on. "The bed's not very big but then again, we're not very big, so I don't think it matters all that much."

"I don't know, I kind of like it," Billy replied, locking the door behind himself and dropping his bag by the desk. "Makes it more illicit... intimate, too. Have you really been reading about this? I should've known. What've you learnt?"

"Can I show you?" Dom asked, biting his lip and looking up at Billy from underneath his eyelashes.

"You really think I could say no to that?" Billy asked, stepping forward and pulling Dom to him by the collar, pressing their lips together messily. "How do you want me? Would you like to sit down again?"

"It's up to you," Dom said, smiling, kissing Billy again then walking over to the window and drawing the curtains. "However you like it."

"Maybe I could sit down?" Billy suggested. "In the chair? Do you mind being on your knees?"

"I like being on my knees," Dom replied as if that was obvious, pulling the chair out for Billy and removing the pile of books on there. "Sorry about the mess, I just didn't have chance to tidy up or anything..."

"No," Billy interrupted. "Don't apologise, it's fine. Just... let me go back to the you liking being on your knees part. I don't think I've had a chance to fully process that statement." Grinning, he lowered himself into the chair, closed his eyes, tilted his head back, and sighed, pressing his palm to his erection. "Ah. There we go."

Dom laughed and pulled Billy's hand away, deftly undoing his trousers then pulling them and his boxers down hurriedly. "God, you smell so good," Dom groaned, pressing his nose against Billy's cock and inhaling. "Wish I could bottle that smell and keep it here with me."

"Christ," Billy groaned, this time closing his eyes and tilting his head back without any dramatic edge to it, tangling his hand in Dom's hair. "Full marks so far, lad."

"Well," Dom whispered, feeling a little devious as he licked slowly up the shaft of Billy's cock, his tongue teasing the head, "thank you, Sir."

"Oh God," Billy muttered, stroking Dom's cheek and opening his eyes again to catch Dom's. "Don't tempt me, don't tempt me..."

"Why not, Sir?" Dom asked, adopting the innocent expression he so often had in Billy's class, despite feeling a bit daft. Billy was clearly very into whatever it was that they were doing.

"Because it's too bloody hot to think of you in a way I really shouldn't be thinking of you," Billy admitted, reaching down and rubbing his thumb over Dom's bottom lip. "Not that you really wanted to know that..."

Smirking, Dom wrapped his lips around the head of Billy's cock and then moved down slowly, looking up at Billy as he did so. Remember to breathe through your nose, he coached himself, like the book said. He used the flat of his tongue on the head of Billy's cock and then moved down again, delighting in Billy's moans. Yay. He was hot.

"God, lad... that's... I don't know when you got so bloody... confident. You're... Jesus... bloody fucking gorgeous, you are."

Very pleased with himself, Dom blushed a little then worked his hand underneath Billy's shirt to pinch a nipple as his mouth continued to move on Billy's cock. "Love you," he murmured as he pulled off for breath, before going straight back down again, using his hand to gently cup Billy's balls, squeezing slightly.

"God," Billy gasped, his hips jerking just slightly before he got himself under control. "Love you too. That's... just like that, oh fuck. Keep touching me... like that... 's good."

"Quicker?" Dom asked, applying his tongue to the head and then sucking hard again, like he had the first time he's done it. "Slower? Do you, um, perhaps want me to use my uh, my finger?"

"Oh, I uh... I don't know, lad, this is good. Just keep on like you are... just a little more."

"Right," Dom whispered, licking all over Billy's cock, still with no clear rhythm, and then sinking down again, further this time.

"Oh, that's nice," Billy breathed. "Just... up and down, sweetheart, like this," he guided, using his hand in Dom's hair to set a rhythm.

Dom moaned to acknowledge Billy and then continued in the rhythm, sucking a little harder. When Billy's hands came away from his hair, Dom immediately whinged and protested, dragging them back to where they were.

"Fuck," Billy cursed, tightening his hands again. "You like that, do you? Like it when I show you what to do? So beautiful, Dominic... so beautiful."

Dom moaned again and inched down further, internally celebrating that he hadn't choked yet. His own cock was crying out for attention but he ignored it, instead preferring to concentrate on Billy, rubbing his nipple through the thin cloth of his shirt.

"Ah! Just... oh God... so close, lad," Billy moaned.

His heart fluttering, Dom sped up and then slowed down then went back to fast again, changing the pace as he normally did when he got himself off.

"Oh God... that's... it's... ohh... lad, if you want to pull off, you need to now," Billy warned.

Shaking his head, Dom pulled Billy in deeper by his hips and sucked harder, watching Billy's face and squeezing his hands around Billy's hipbones.

"Ohh... fuck... just there... Dom," Billy gasped.

Breathing in deeply through his nose, Dom swallowed three times, then a fourth to ensure that everything was taken care of. He pulled off gently, smiling as he licked any remaining traces of come away from Billy's cock, taking Billy's hand once he'd finished.

"Jesus," Billy murmured, taking a few deep breaths and then sliding down from the chair onto his knees, knocking a startled Dom onto his back. "Gorgeous, gorgeous lad. So fucking good to me," he babbled as he insinuated one bare thigh between Dom's legs and rubbed with it, sucking on Dom's bottom lip.

"Ngghhh," Dom groaned, pulling Billy down by the back of his neck and kissing him messily, pushing his hips up at the same time. "Oh, I missed you so much, Bill, missed this..."

"Yeah, I know you did you gorgeous little minx. You missed being on your back, didn't you sweetheart?" he growled, rubbing harder and then shifting, moving up to his knees to straddle Dom though his lips remained on Dom's, his back bent as he tugged Dom's shirt from his trousers and opened them quickly, drawing his cock out.

"Yes, Billy, yes," Dom gasped, his hands falling to his sides and scratching at the carpet.

"Tell me what you've been thinking about since you've been away from me," Billy demanded, fisting Dom's cock and pumping it steadily as he scooted back on the carpet, pushing Dom's shirt up and leaning down to scrape his teeth over Dom's nipples. "Have you been lying in this room at night, thinking about the things we did together? Tell me."

"Fuck!" Dom shouted, clamping his hands over his mouth immediately after doing so. Don't want people to hear... "Yes," he whispered, writing as Billy stroked him, "yes. I--God, I, I imagined you were here. Inside me. On top of me, all warm and safe and, and like home..."

"Oh, Dominic," Billy sighed. "You're so... every time I try to be sensible, you make me fall a little more in love with you," he admitted, swirling his tongue in Dom's navel as he continued to stroke steadily.

"Ahh! Oh, Billy, please," Dom groaned, his hands threading clumsily through Billy's hair, "make me come, please, God, I need it..."

"You'll have it then," Billy promised before sinking suddenly down onto Dom's cock, his lips tightening almost immediately as he fondled Dom's balls with one hand and flicked his nipples with the other.

"Fuck!" Dom screeched, whimpering and then biting down on his thumb as Billy sucked. "Billy, I, oh God, I'm so..."

As he pleaded, Billy continued to suck, his hand drifting down to rub over Dom's perineum and then coming back up to slip into his mouth alongside Dom's cock. Once it was good and wet, Billy reached back and pushed just the tip of his finger into Dom's arse, pulling back and flicking his tongue over the slit.

At that, Dom just cried out loudly and wordlessly, not caring about making a noise anymore. He groaned as a second wave of orgasm overtook him and cupped Billy's jaw with one hand, shuddering and chanting Billy's name under his breath.

When Billy finished swallowing, he looked up at Dom and grinned, crawling up his body and laying out next to him on the floor. "You realise anyone who isn't at the bar right now definitely knows you just got some?" he teased, brushing a finger over Dom's lip.

"Can I go and tell everyone at the bar?" Dom asked with a cheeky grin, rolling onto his side and kissing Billy's cheek. "I'm so glad you're here, Bill."

"Mm, so'm I, love. I'll have to come down here more often if this is going to be my reception."

"Yeah, too right you are," Dom said, sighing happily. "Perhaps you can come and stay for Easter or something. The choir's brilliant, as I'm sure you know."

"I used to sing in said choir, so yes, I'm aware. That would be lovely, but I'll need to check with my sister to make sure it's okay."

"You used to sing in the choir?" Dom asked, sitting up and grinning at Billy before lying back down and staring at the ceiling. "There are so many things I don't know about you, William Boyd." He kissed Billy again, gently. "But I certainly intend to find out."

~*~

"Jesus, I see the student body's ability to find something better to do than drink cheap beer has not increased since I was here," Billy muttered as they slowly made their way through the crowd of students inside the bar.

Dom laughed and shook his head. "It's freezing out there, what else do you expect them to do?"

"And you? Have you been doing this every weekend?" Billy asked, leaning in to speak into Dom's ear.

"No. I've had some studying to do," Dom explained with a shrug.

"Studying? At university? We need to get your head inspected, young man," Billy joked, tugging Dom with him to an empty spot at the bar. "What're you drinking, love?"

"Um," Dom said, leaning over the bar and looking at the fridges at the back. "They do good cocktails, maybe one of them, or uh..." he bit his lip and frowned as he thought. "You choose for me," he said to Billy with a smile, swinging his legs under his barstool.

"All right," Billy agreed, leaning over the bar and ordering for them. The barman brought Billy a pint of ale and then went to mix something for Dom. "Have you seen much of Elijah and 'twatface' since you've been here? Or any of the other boys?"

"Elijah comes over a fair bit; Trinity's not far from here," Dom said, smiling and taking Billy's hand. "Still asking me awkward questions about my platform mystery man. Would you mind if I told him, perhaps?"

"Love, you're perfectly welcome to tell anyone you want," Billy replied. "I'd appreciate it if you make it clear that we didn't get together until after you'd graduated, though. I don't want it getting back to the school misconstrued," he requested as the bartender set down a pale yellow martini in front of Dom. "Lemon drop," Billy explained, putting a note down on the bar.

Dom grinned and pressed a spontaneous kiss to Billy's lips, blushing as he realised they were in public. He sipped his drink, looking down at the floor and squeezing Billy's hand. "It's lovely," he said, "like cloudy lemonade with a kick." He grinned. "And Elijah wouldn't...you know, think any less of you or anything, nor would he tell the school. He's made it his own personal mission to get me a boyfriend now we're down here and I'm running out of excuses. And half of my college know anyway, it's bound to get back to him."

"Has he really? Well I don't know that he'd approve of me for your boyfriend, but I suppose he'll have to settle," Billy teased.

"Oh, he likes you," Dom said, linking his and Billy's fingers together, smiling as he looked at their hands. "He's mentioned you at least a dozen times since we've been here. 'I wonder if Mr. Boyd went here,' 'I wonder if Mr. Boyd used to shop here...'"

"Really?" Billy asked, looking genuinely surprised. "That's funny. So you told him I went to Hertford, then?"

"Yeah," Dom admitted, sipping his drink again. "He asked me if I knew."

"Dominic!" someone called from the other side of the room, causing a good dozen or so people turn to look at him.

"Oh, Christ," Dom whispered, looking down at the bar, his cheeks turning red, "are they coming over? They're coming over, aren't they?"

"Yes," Billy replied, rubbing his lower back comfortingly out of the line of sight of the people heading their direction. "It's fine, love. Don't panic."

Dom swallowed and leant into Billy's hand, smiling briefly at his new friends.

"Hiya," he said quietly when they got there, biting his lip, "This is, uh, this is Billy."

If Billy was surprised by Dom's sudden shyness, he didn't show it, giving the group a little wave. "Hello."

"Um," Dom said, squeezing Billy's hand tightly, "This is Evelyn, and Robert, and that's Becky, and Jack and Libby."

"You the boyfriend, then?" Evelyn asked, grinning and sipping her pint.

"That would be me," Billy agreed, smiling back at her. "What, were you expecting someone tall dark and handsome? I'm sorry to disappoint."

Robert laughed, though not cruelly, and shook his head. "Maybe someone closer to our age is all."

"Aw, look, we've embarrassed him!" Becky said, ruffling Dom's hair and then pulling him into a one-armed hug.

"Oh, come on, it's not like it's hard," Jack said, pinching one of Dom's cheeks. "How d'you like Oxford so far then, Billy?" he asked.

"I erm, I went here, actually," Billy replied. "To Hertford."

"No shit?" Libby exclaimed. "What year did you graduate?"

"Eighty seven," Billy mumbled into the edge of his glass.

"Really," Becky commented, raising an eyebrow at Dom as Billy stared at the ground. "Interesting."

"So how did you meet, then?" Evelyn asked, sitting down on the barstool next to Dom.

Dom glanced over at Billy, whose ears were turning pink, and realised he would be no help. "At school," Dom replied. "He teaches... but we started dating after I left," he explained.

"Ooh, quite the scandal," Jack teased.

"Not really," Billy countered, taking another long pull from his beer. "Dom's nineteen."

"Oh we know, love," Libby assured him. "We're not judging, it's just funny. Dom's just such an ordinary bloke; we didn't expect the steamy love affair."

"He's not ordinary," Billy objected with a frown.

Dom grinned and rested his head on Billy's shoulder. "I am a bit, Bill," he said, "on the surface, anyway."

"You two are so cute!" Becky exclaimed, clapping her hands together and sloshing her alcopop over herself in the process.

"Scuse her, she's had a bit to drink, you know," Jack said, smiling and grabbing the towel off the bar, wiping Becky up with it.

"Oh, leave me be!"

"Well anyway, Dom, it's nice to see you out. We'll let you alone. Maybe we can go out for lunch or something tomorrow, get to know you better, Billy? You're staying the weekend, right?" Evelyn asked, draining her glass and sticking it down on the bar.

"Aye, I'm here till Sunday," Billy agreed. "It's nice to meet all of you."

"You too!" they all called before going off back to their table, waving over their shoulders.

"Sorry about that," Dom whispered, kissing Billy's hand, his cheeks still red. "They don't mean anything by it. They're quite lovely, really."

"I'm so old, though," Billy groaned. "I mean, compared to them, Jesus. I should be in bed drinking tea, not here with you."

"But the point is you are here with me," Dom replied, kissing Billy gently and squeezing his hand. "And I love you and I want you here. Besides, older men are so much sexier than this lot," he added, waving his hand around the bar, "especially a certain Scotsman."

Billy laughed and squeezed Dom's hand back. "Like older men, do you?"

"Nah," Dom replied, kissing Billy's cheek, "just you."

"Oh Jesus," Dom gasped. "Right there..."

"Like that?" Billy asked, tugging Dom's leg further back on his hip, his back against the wall in the small bed as the morning light fell over their bodies.

"God yeah, right there," Dom groaned, trying to be quiet for fear of mentally scarring his neighbours.

It was the morning after their visit to the bar and Dom had been very pleasantly woken up by a tongue on his neck and a hand on his cock.

"Oh, Billy...do you think...maybe a bit harder?"

"Of course," Billy replied, pushing Dom onto his stomach instead and seating himself more fully inside Dom's body, leaning down to bite his shoulder.

"Oh, yeah," Dom groaned, clenching around Billy's cock and shuddering. "Mark me," he gasped, drawing his legs up underneath himself to give Billy a better position.

Billy drew in a quick, hissing breath and thrust in hard, digging his teeth in harder as well until Dom started whimpering. "That's my sexy little wildcat..."

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?" A very high-pitched, very loud, very American voice screeched from the doorway, "No, who the fuck are you doing?" Elijah yelled.

"Bollocks!" Dom shouted, turning his head to the side until he could half-see Elijah, "Lij, get out!"

Elijah scrambled out of the room dutifully, and Billy started muttering a string of curse words to himself, pulling out of Dom and disposing of the condom, then rummaging in his bag for a clean pair of pants and his jeans. "Fuck, shite, shite, fuck..."

Dom just rolled over onto his back and pressed his hands into his eyes, his entire face, neck and most of his chest bright red. After a few seconds of all-consuming mortification, he dragged his trousers on, ruffling his hair up a bit as well and doing his best to hide his new (very sexy) bite mark.

"Well?" Elijah asked, crossing his arms over his chest and tapping his foot when Dom emerged, still shirtless, shutting the door behind him. "Who the fuck was that?"

"Um," Dom mumbled, flushing again and looking down at the floor. "I don't suppose you'd, uh, like to come and meet my boyfriend, would you?"

"Boyfriend?" Elijah gawked. "You've been hiding a boyfriend in here? Jesus, Dom, you used to tell me everything, and now we go to different colleges and suddenly you're having an affair!" he exclaimed, though he was grinning. "Course I want to meet him."

"Well, uh, it might be a bit of a shock, see," Dom muttered, looking down at his hands, "Because uh, well. Are you sure?"

"Of course I'm sure, you idiot. Let me in!"

"All right," Dom whispered, opening the door and going in first, breathing deeply. "Elijah, meet Billy," he said, closing the door firmly.

"Mr. Boyd?" Elijah squawked, his mouth dropping open.

"Yes, I believe that would be me," Billy replied sarcastically, rolling his eyes and giving Dom's shoulder a reassuring squeeze as he tugged his shirt over his head.

"But...but you're...Dom, I...but, uh, ah, Dom, he's our..." Elijah gibbered, his mouth wide open.

"Former teacher is the term your looking for I believe, Elijah. And yes, I am. And no, Dom and I weren't doing anything inappropriate while he was still my student, so you can refrain from asking, thank you."

"Mr. Boyd, I wasn't... it's just..."

"Billy," he corrected. "Please. Otherwise it's just too strange. We're all adults here."

"Um, okay..." Elijah said, still looking shocked. "I just, uh..."

"I love him, Lij," Dom said, sitting down next to Billy and resting his hand on Billy's knee, "I really do. And you're always telling me I need to find someone special and well...I have."

"I... I guess... geez, it's just... how old are you, anyway?"

"Thirty five," Billy replied, putting his hand on top of Dom's and squeezing gently.

"And you're not... I mean... you two are serious? You're serious about Dom?"

"Very serious," Billy agreed. "I'm not going to hurt him, Elijah. You needn't worry."

"So what's that mark on his neck?" Elijah asked, looking suspicious.

"Lij!" Dom hissed, "I asked him to put it there! God!"

"So you're really serious? And when did this...when did this happen, anyway?"

"When we got in," Dom replied, looking at Elijah steadily, despite his blush.

"Move quickly, don't you?" Elijah asked, raising an eyebrow at Billy.

"Oh for God's sake, Elijah, this isn't a daytime drama. I've never fancied a student before Dominic, and as you well know I didn't act on it until he was free and clear of school. He's certainly younger, but he's an adult."

"Yeah, I know he is, but still... it's just... I don't know. He's just started college, shouldn't he get a chance to hang out with people his own age?"

"Of course he should, and that's why I'm not bloody packing up and moving to Oxford. It's not like we see each other all that frequently, Elijah. He has plenty of time to make friends, and he has. And he knows very well that if this isn't what he wants, if he wants someone younger, then I only want him to be happy."

"Lij, this is...better than anything I've ever experienced," Dom replied honestly, desperately wanting Elijah to accept them. "I love him, and I'm going to stay with him. I don't want anyone younger. I've made friends and I'm still seeing you every other day, aren't I? Trust me, I want this. Really, I do."

"All right," Elijah agreed. "Well, if you're happy, then I guess that's good enough for me. I'm just a little surprised, you know? Your first boyfriend and after a few months you're already practically picking out china."

"You're a good friend, Elijah," Billy said. "I promise if I do anything stupid I will give you full permission to punch me in the nose."

"Oh, I won't need your permission," Elijah warned, but then he gave Billy a grin.

Billy smiled back and Dom positively beamed. "Who's for tea, then?"

~*~

"Hello?"

"Good evening, my favourite Oxford scholar. And how does it feel to be done your very first term?"

"Fantastic," Dom replied with a happy sigh, giggling at the tone of Billy's voice. "My tutor's given me an obscene amount of reading but most of it's homoerotic so it really won't be a big deal."

Billy barked out a laugh. "Are you serious? Should I be concerned about this tutor?"

"Billy, you've been here. Everyone's as bent as a nine bob note, you know that." Dom grinned and stirred some milk into his tea one-handedly. "So, how've you been?"

"Well yes, but they used to be subtle about it, at least," Billy replied. "I've been well... I rang Margaret, by the way, and she said I have permission to come visit you at Easter hols... I might have to bring some marking along but I'll be there at least."

"Oh, Bill, that's wonderful!" Dom exclaimed, grinning madly. "Oh, I'm thrilled, I really am. I miss you so much, you know, and you can bring as much marking as you like, so long as you're here. I'll have some reading to do anyway."

"All right. But you're coming back for at least a little bit during the holiday, right? Think you can sneak away from your family to see me?"

"God, you can bet your life on it," Dom replied, groaning a little. "I'm telling them when I get back, you know. If they chuck me out you may have to accommodate me," he said, giggling.

"Are you really? Well of course I would, my place is always yours, but... I mean you don't think they'd do that?"

"I was joking," Dom replied, laughing. "As I said, they'll get used to it. They may not like it, but they'll tolerate it, you know? Besides, they've already got one perfect son, so it doesn't matter, really. How's Maggie?"

"She's doing well. The kids are in a funk I think, because the weather won't warm up, but hey, not my problem. Is it weird, not having classes to go to? My first holiday I remember I just sat around wondering what was going on. And drinking a lot."

"Well, Lij and Evelyn and all the rest have been dragging me out a lot. We went punting, that was fun, although it's still bloody freezing, and we've watched all the rugby matches and been to church a fair bit." Dom sipped his tea. "I let Evelyn read one of your poems. I hope you don't mind, but she's now convinced you're the most perfect man ever."

"I guess it depends on which one," Billy replied. "I think a few of those poems aren't quite appropriate for a lady's eyes, if you know what I mean."

"Mmm, I do," Dom replied, looking fondly at the photo of the two of them on his bedside table that had been taken the last time Billy was down. "It wouldn't go as far to call Evelyn a lady, but it was one of the more innocent ones, I assure you."

"Well that's good. I wouldn't want my illicit masturbatory fantasies of you to be spread around Hertford in verse."

"I think you'd agree they're for my eyes only," Dom replied, his tone a little husky.

"Mm, very much for your eyes. Are you in your room now, lad?" Billy asked.

"Yes," Dom replied, grinning and getting up from his little desk, moving over to the bed.

"Excellent. I think this might be a bit more fun sober, don't you think?"

"Oh, yes," Dom said, jumping up and drawing his curtains then running and locking his door.

"So what are you wearing, then?" Billy asked, a bit of laughter in his tone.

"I'd like to say nothing, but that's not true," Dom said, laughing as well and falling backwards onto his bed. "The heating's broken in this part of the quad so I've got about fifty-seven layers on. How about you?"

"Your heating's broken? You poor thing!" Billy exclaimed. "Do you have some blankets you can bundle up under?"

"Mm, I do," Dom said, kicking his shoes off and wriggling under his quilt. "God, that's nice. And I, uh, nicked one of your shirts last time you were down so the pillow next to me smells like you. Did you notice?"

"The red one?" Billy asked, laughing. "I wondered where that had gotten to!"

"Yeah, well," Dom said, blushing a little and wriggling further under the blankets, "I miss the way you smell. And the way you feel and sound and taste and look, so you can't judge me." He grinned and turned onto his side so he could look at the picture again.

"Not judging you, lad," Billy replied. "I'd be a hypocrite. I only wish I could be there to warm you up."

"Mmmm, me too," Dom whispered, running his forefinger down the edge of the photo frame. "Have I inspired any more sketches or poems? Tell me."

"I can't sketch from memory, unfortunately," Billy replied. "But poetry, yes... I don't think I've written this much in ages, in fact. My perfect little muse."

"Care to read me some? If you have it to hand, that is."

"I have one in my nightstand, hang on," Billy replied, and Dom could hear rustling before Billy cleared his throat and started to read.

"The twin rise of your hips - seductive
The curve of your spine - enticing
The plane of your stomach - elusive
The swell of your cock - inviting

I beg of myself, the strength to let go, to allow me to drown in your angles and lines.
I hope against hope, that you'll be here soon, and you'll be intertwining your fingers with mine.
Distances yawn in the spaces between, but my hand on my thigh can remember your grin.
My body now shivers with longing and hope, and strength left to return to your neck's gentle slope.

"Well, that's it," Billy said when he finished reading. "I don't like the rhyming of that one very much, I think it reads a bit greeting card, but I'll fix it soon enough."

"Jesus, Bill, it's just..." Dom moaned and unbuttoned his trousers, wriggling out of them hurriedly. "God, I want you. Talk to me. Please, God, talk to me."

"Wow," Billy murmured. "I've really got to start sending you greeting cards, apparently. All right, lad. Put your hand on your cock for me. Are you warm enough?"

"Yeah," Dom gasped, doing as instructed and groaning. "Hang on, I'm just-" he put the phone down for a second and pulled his jumper and shirt off over his head until he was left in just his t-shirt. "There, I'm back."

"Naked, love?" Billy asked, his tone teasing.

"Mostly," Dom replied with a little giggle, "you?"

"No, but I have my hand in my jeans," Billy replied. "I'm thinking about you all bundled up warm in your bed, your hand on your cock... are you hard for me, love?"

"Very," Dom said, curling his fingers around his cock and pulling, once. "Oh, God...what would you be doing if you were here?"

"Sucking your cock," Billy replied matter-of-factly.

"Oh, Christ," Dom groaned, tightening his hand. "You would?"

"Yeah," Billy breathed. "Been thinking about how pretty you look when I suck your cock, those little whimpering sounds you make..."

"Only because it's so bloody good," Dom gasped, beginning to move his hand quickly.

"Yeah? Like the sounds you make when I fuck you too, lad. I like how you beg for it. Would you, if I were there? Would you beg me to fuck you?"

"Oh, God, yes, I would," Dom whispered, biting his lip. "I want you so much, Billy, there's no feeling like it..."

"Mm, and you'll have me soon, lad. You know I can't resist you, my sweet, sweet little wildcat... oh, that's good..."

"Billy, God, you sound wonderful," Dom moaned, "I love it when you call me that, I do, fuck, Christ..."

"I know you do, love. That's why I do it... God, hang on a second." Dom could hear the phone being set down and then a minute later, Billy picked it back up again. "Sorry, lad. Just got some lube to help."

"Oh, good idea," Dom said, rummaging about in his bedside table for his own tube. "Shit," he muttered when he pulled it out, empty. "I used it all." He spat on his hand and then re-applied it to his cock, groaning again. "Yeah...Bill..."

"Used it all?" Billy laughed. "My horny little lad."

"Well with your poetry lying about, what do you expect?" Dom said, laughing and then whimpering at a particularly hard tug.

"Using my art against me?" Billy teased. "God, harder lad. Want to hear you. Want to hear you come."

"Ohhhhhh, fuck," Dom gasped, tightening his hand and pulling harder, but slower. "Love it when you order me about."

"You do, don't you? Take your hand off your cock then. Pull your nipples. Nice and hard, now, make me hear you cry out."

"But, but, Bill, I'm loud Dom protested weakly, taking his hand off his prick all the same. "It's late and I don't want to wake anyone up..."

"Tell me something, lad," Billy growled. "Has anyone in that building ever woken you up by having sex with his girlfriend?"

"Yes," Dom mumbled, blushing.

"Then you will reach up now, lad, and give it a nice little pinch like I know you like."

"Okay," Dom whispered, doing as he was told and then moaning raggedly. "Oh, Billy!"

"Good little wildcat." Billy took in a sharp breath and was silent for a moment before he gave Dom another instruction. "Take your cock in your hand again. Nice and hard and slow for me lad."

"Oh, yes, Billy, I'll...ohhhhhh," Dom groaned, licking his hand again and pulling slowly, making a tight fist with his hand.

"Yeah, just like that. Just slow... I'm pulling my prick just the same way for you lad, nice and slow for you."

"Tell me, Billy," Dom whined, "what do you wish I was doing?"

"Wish you were here. Wish you were on your stomach, holding onto my headboard, pushing back up onto my prick while I fucked you nice and slow, just like this. I love the way you do that. Love the way you push back against me when I'm not going hard as you like me to. Like to hold you down and give you what you want."

"God, Bill, you will," Dom promised, rubbing his cock harder, "As soon as I come back, I'm coming to you, God, I need you Billy, need you inside me...fuck, I'm so...so close, oh please."

"Good lad, harder now, finish yourself off, let me hear you come sweetheart, so fucking sexy for me..."

"Oh, fuck, Bill!" Dom shouted, gasping and moaning as he stroked harder and faster, his hips arching off the bed as he came. "Oh, Billy, fuck, oh, I love you, I love you, oh..."

"Good lad, oh, such a good lad for me, Jesus, I'm close..." Billy gasped.

"Go on, Bill, do it, love. I love you, come on, do it for me, please..."

"Oh God... Dominic... love... ah!" Billy moaned loudly into the phone, and Dom could hear him gasping for breath for a moment before he finally calmed down. "I love you," he whispered. "Miss having you in my arms."

"I miss being in them," Dom said miserably, rolling over and burying his face in Billy's shirt.

"Don't be sad, love. You'll be here so soon, won't you? And you can sneak out here and see me before you go home, and we can make love and then I'll let you sleep in my arms for as long as you like."

"Oh, that sounds wonderful," Dom whispered, reaching for his boxers and then wiping himself clean with them. "I'd come and meet you at school but, well..."

"Yeah, I don't think that'd be best," Billy agreed. "People wouldn't understand. But don't worry lad, I know you would if you could. I can meet your train maybe, you just tell your parents that you're going to the pub with some friends or something when you get in so they don't know you're back already."

"I'll tell them I'm getting the train the next day or something," Dom said, fiddling with a corner of his bed sheet as nerves overtook him at the thought of telling them he was with Billy. "I love you, you know."

"Love you too, lad. You should get some sleep. You sound all nice and warm and sleepy. Would you like a lullaby?"

"Yes, please," Dom whispered, suddenly feeling very childlike as he curled up and flipped his light off, his cup of tea abandoned on the side. "I love you."

"Love you too, lad," Billy replied. "Very much."

Dom tugged the covers up to his chin and listened to the sounds of clattering around as Billy got his guitar, and then the soft sound of his voice over the phone.

"I lost myself in a cool damp night, I gave myself in that misty light, was hypnotised by a strange delight, under a lilac tree. I made wine from the lilac tree, put my heart in its recipe, it makes me see what I wanna see and be what I wanna be. When I think more than I oughta think, do things I never should do, I drink much more than I oughta drink, because it brings me back to you..."
