If anyone can figure out how to hide this link behind a cut, please could you let me know? 

<a href> and <lj-cut> doesn't seem to work - maybe because it isn't hosted on LJ.

You can use the "link" button, looks like chain link. That will allow you to link to anywhere on the internet.

Your link worked OK and you don't have to cut it because it's short. To make a link in the plain HTML editor (non Rich Text), you do it like this: <a href="http://www.ficwad.com/story/78054">The Word for You</a>. I'll be sure to include the story in the list of new fic at lotrips
