One more level….

Elijah’s hands were aching on the Playstation controller, and Dom sighed heavily. “Come on, Lij, give over. You’ve been at it for an hour straight now. Let someone else have a turn.”

Elijah didn’t even acknowledge him as his eyes followed the pixellated character around the screen.

Dom watched for another thirty minutes, then rose from the couch. “I’m going home.”

Elijah didn’t notice.

In feet the next morning, Sean looked worried. “Dom, when did you leave last night?”

Dom shrugged nonchalantly. “’Round midnight I guess.”

Elijah sat in front of his television, eyes glazed, fingers still.
