ADMIN: *facepalm*

In light of today's apparent LJ Inquisition, I've added a precautionary rule to the user page regarding underage characters.

Fiction in this community must not involve individuals under the age of consent. It is understood that legal age varies from country to country, however, for the purposes of this community, characters involved in fictitious sexual situations must be over 18 years to be posted here.

Generally, this does not really concern this community and fandom quite as much as others, and I don't see too much of a threat (just yet, anyway), but I do feel a need to mind the community's backside. Hopefully this ridiculousness will blow over, yes?

Back to your positions, run along.

Actually, from the experiences so far, the information in the "About" section of the User Page doesn't matter at all. It's the "Interests" that are searchable and are being targeted. So far, along with a very few real pedophile journals, outside vigilantes have also targeted journals that clearly indicate that they are purely fictional in their bios. LJ has gotten a legal opinion from their lawyers that they can't dip into journal content and go case by case. If they suspend one journal (that's icky) when someone points out that it has Incest or Pedophilia, etc., as an Interest, then they have to suspend all the journals that that person/group points out have the same Interest(s).

It fracking sucks, but at least Fellowshippers is off their radar.

Actually, I just recently posted a Viggo/Bean AU piece in which both of them were underage. I won't be posting the next chapter here though.

Yeah, there's a whole new thing: http://msilverstar.livejournal.com/314879.html

Sorry, I was only away from the computer a couple of hours, and had still been seeing the last rumour.

Good lord, the damage one nutjob vigilante lady can do to thousands of innocent users is RIDICULOUS. I'm just disgusted by this whole affair. >:(
