“Hey ‘Lijah, do you have a minute?” Billy asked when they were about to leave for the day, being rid of makeup and wigs, and Sean and Dominic had already gone home.

“Sure,” Elijah replied with a smile, gesturing to the chair opposite his as the last makeup artist filed out. “What did you need?”

“I wanted to talk to you. About Viggo,” Billy clarified as he sat down, pausing for a moment to read Elijah’s expression.

Elijah frowned. “What about him?”

“Well… I’ve noticed that he’s been a little edgy, lately,” Billy explained.

“Edgy? Well I mean he’s working a lot…”

“No, more than the usual edgy. I wasn’t sure what the reason was, so I asked Orlando…”

“Wait,” Elijah interrupted. “You asked Orli because you were wondering what was wrong with my boyfriend?” Elijah asked with a frown.

Billy raised an eyebrow. “Elijah, I didn’t mean… actually. Well that’s just it, um…”

“What’s just it?” Elijah asked, starting to feel slightly suspicious.

“Well when I asked Orlando about it—whom I asked because he’s been working with Viggo on scenes lately, no other reason—he said that Viggo had been really prickly lately around Karl. And Orli explained that he had seen you dancing with Karl at the club a few nights ago, and he thought maybe that had something to do with it.”

“Yeah, I danced with Karl. It wasn’t really something I wanted to do. But Viggo spoke to him about it, end of story.”

“That’s just it though, Elijah. It’s not end of story, not for him. And it really seems to be bugging him, I mean it’s affecting his work. It’s affecting how he interacts with people, and from your reaction just a moment ago, I can’t help but think…”

“We love each other, Billy,” Elijah explained in a patient tone. “Isn’t it natural to be a bit protective of your lover?”

“Well yes, Elijah, but not to the point where you’re suspicious of all your friends. Besides, we’ve barely gotten to hang out with the two of you in a group since Viggo’s party. The other night at the club was the first time, and you barely stayed long enough to chat with anyone. You showed up on his arm, all dressed up, and were attached at the hip the whole time, with the exception of when you danced with Karl…”

“Billy, if you’ll recall,” Elijah interrupted, his tone icy, “I danced with Orli that night as well. Maybe we haven’t seen you guys as much off-set lately, but we’re in a relationship. What do you expect?”

“Elijah, I’m not saying you shouldn’t spend time together. I’m just saying, part of being in a relationship is accepting that you have lives outside of each other. It isn’t healthy to spend all your time alone with someone. You used to hang out with the rest of us more, and to be honest, I think some people might be feeling left out…”

“Which ‘some people?’” Elijah asked, his tone softening a bit as he realised this wasn’t just about Billy and his misconstrued perception of his relationship with Viggo. If someone seriously was feeling affronted, he wanted to know so he could make it better. Elijah, after all, always made it better.

“Elijah, I shouldn’t say this, but…”

“Spit it out, Billy. Before I tickle it out of you,” Elijah added with a grin, happy to see Billy grinning in return.

“I think… Elijah, you can’t repeat a word of this, but I get the feeling Dom is a bit jealous.”

Elijah frowned. “Dom? Jealous? Of who?”

“Well I don’t know. I mean, it could be that he had a thing for you… or for Viggo…” Elijah frowned, but it didn’t have the heat of his reaction regarding Orli. For some reason, Dom seemed like less of a threat. “It might be neither. I mean, it could just be that Dom would like to have a relationship, I don’t know…”

“Well you’re his Pippin! Talk to him!”

“I might,” Billy replied, smiling when Elijah referred to him as his character. “I’m just saying, I think it would mean a lot to Dom to feel included. You know, just hanging out or going to the pub or whatever. He was really starting to bond with all of us before we went home for Christmas, and I think it’s hurting his feelings a bit when you keep turning down his offers to go out. Could you just humour him, please? For me?”

Elijah considered a moment before nodding, genuinely concerned for his friend. “I’ll talk to Viggo about it, but yeah. We’ll be sure to set something up soon.”

“Good. I’m sorry to bother you, ‘Lij. I’ll let you get back to your King.”

“Hey, no worries, man. Any time for my favourite hobbit… just don’t tell Sean or Dom,” Elijah joked with a wink, pulling Billy into a hug.

“Right, Master Frodo. I’ll do that.” Elijah grinned, boxed Billy on the ear, and gathered his stuff, heading out to Viggo’s waiting car with a wave and a just-saved stumble down the trailer steps.

Hmm, interesting. I guess it's natural for new couples to exclude their friends a bit. Perhaps Viggo is talking this a bit to far?
Unless this Viggo has really been messed up in the past I'm not sure how much I'd believe this behaviour with Karl though. I'll have to wait and see!

Hmmmmmm.... Billy has a point.

Oh I am pleased. After all, fairly well balanced people are never as angsty as some fic writers make out. (Not fellowshippers I may add, all good!).
I'm patient, I can wait for my filth...for a while!
