Two weeks since it hit the net. There were downsides to being a tech freak. He’d never got round to unsubscribing from certain forums and communities.

“C’mon, step away from the gossip machine.”

He shook his head. “Now I’m talking to myself.”

He flipped his phone, thumbing through to the ‘O’s. Looked at the name for the umpteenth time. Queasy stomach feeling for the umpteenth time. Flipped it shut.

“It’ll be exactly the same: Break up – hopes raised – make up – hopes dashed. He can’t deal. Never has, never will.”

Elijah reached for his ipod, trusting it to drown everything out.
