The Luckiest Dog in the World - 27
I’ve had just a bit of time recently to sit down and commune psychically with Sidi Dog, and he’s happily passed on a new story about his life. I offer it to everyone who has a loving fur-kid/person in their own life, or those who wished they did.
(remember, Sidi answers his own comments via his psychic Dogographer, Pecos. If you've missed some of his adventures just go to my lj and use the Tag)

Sidi Making Vigilance
This is your Dog friend Sidi again, telling you about my life and all the Stuff that happens to Me and my Pack. Hello Nice People who read about Me! I hope that you are Good and that your Pack is Strong and Happy. Mine is Good too, thanks.
What I am telling you about happened while My Pack was living in London Place. This is a Big Big City full of People and Dogs and nice green parks for making Walkies. My Alpha Male, who is called Orlando, likes to live in London Place. He makes a Den there where all kinds of Packmates and Friends and Strangers come to visit. There’s a lot of rooms in his Den. Some of them have beds and some just have stuff in them, and some are empty. The kitchen is a Food Place with smooth tile floors that your nails go click click click on. There’s a big Yard there with a tall fence just for Dogs to stay in, and it’s got trees and bushes and lots of dirt to dig in and things to Play with like the Hose Snake! This London Den is a Good Place!
My Alpha’s Dam and his Littermate come to see us in the London Den, and My Alpha Bitch Kate is usually there too. Essa Dog also lives there most of the time, but sometimes she goes away with Kate and it’s just us Males. There’s some other People there that are in our Pack, like Treats-in-Pocket Man Sean, and he comes to visit also. He never forgets to bring a Treat with him for the Dogs! Sometimes there’s a thing called ‘Footie Night’ when all the Males drink a lot and yell things and throw Food around. This is Lots of Fun!
I have an Important Job in London Town. I do it whenever we go Outside for a Ride or to go to the Park to make Walks and stuff. It’s My Job to spot the Pupper-Nazis who follow my Alpha around. I sniff them out – they all smell the same! When I smell one watching us I make the ‘Look Out!’ with my body and then my Alpha knows that they are following us. Sometimes one gets too close and I make a little Growl, just to let them know that This Dog does not let any Funny Stuff happen around His Alpha! I’m supposed to be a Good Dog with Strangers, especially Little People Pups and Squeee Girls, but Pupper-Nazis are different and my Orlando Hates those Guys! I hate them too, almost as much as I Hate Squirrels!
So, that’s how things are at our London Den. There’s lots of time for Playing and Barking! at the Other Dogs around the neighborhood. There’s places to lie in the shade, and places where it’s warm and dry. I’ve dug lots of Excellent Holes in the Yard and I’ve got Toys and Treats buried or hidden in most of the Rooms. My Crunchy Good Things are almost never late and my bowl of Nice Clean Water is right there in the kitchen – with another bowl Outside! How’s that for Good Living?
I’m the Luckiest Dog in the World, you know.
Anyhow, this is what happened with the story that I’m telling you about:
There was a night when my Alpha, Orlando, had been gone most of the day, and when he came back to the Den he had Stuff that he’d picked up at lots of different places. I could smell places from all over London City on his clothes and skin. He was excited to show his Stuff to our Bitch Kate. One of the Things was a new Wrist Collar made of shiny hard stuff. My Alpha loves to have these Wrist Collars. He has lots of them. He wears one every day. They smell a little bit of oil and sharp tangy metal and sometimes like my Alpha’s sweat, which is a Good thing. He Admired his new Wrist Collar and took it out of the little box to show to his Friends. Lots of People came over that night and they were going Out somewhere Without the Dogs.
The People Left, and the Dogs were alone in the Den. Essa just went to sleep. She’s Lazy like that. But I did a Patrol and made Vigilance against the Bad Guys. You never know when those Bad People might come around. I went out to the yard to check on my Excellent Holes, and while I was out there a big Storm came over the sky! This was the Noisy kind of Storm, with wind and banging things and maybe even Monsters!
I ran inside the Den to make sure that Essa was Okay and not scared! She was already in the good spot under the table, making submissive with her tail between her legs. There was a big Crash! and some noises like the house was being shaken like a Rat! I ran from room to room checking that no Monsters were getting inside! There was more Crash! sounds and it scared me a little, maybe, and I knocked into the table and my Alpha’s new Wrist Collar Thing fell on the ground and slid across the floor.
I decided to Make Vigilance from underneath my Alpha’s bed.
After the Storm had got bored it went away. I was checking the Den all over to make sure it was Good and found the Wrist Thing hiding where it fell. This was Not Good because my Alpha really likes his Things…so I picked it up and put it somewhere safe. That was a Good Thing to do, because maybe the Pupper-Nazis or Bad Guys would come and take his Wrist Thing away and make him Sad!
There was a lot of noise and Stuff when the People got home that night, and a lot of Friends came inside the Den laughing and talking about some Play they had done. They didn’t smell like they’d been Playing – they smelled like they’d been sitting around with a bunch of other People. But hey, nobody asked the Dog about how to have fun. I was just Happy to see my Pack again and get lots of Scratches and Petting! It was a Good night that went real late and some Snacks even got dropped on the floor! I beat Essa to most of the Food, because I’m faster!
The day after that we got to go for a long Ride in the Car! There was lots of things to Sniff through the rushing air and sometimes the Car would stop and us Dogs could Run Around! I met a Man with two little Rat Dogs on leashes. They smelled like People soap and Barked! at me like stupid little Rat Dogs, which they are, I guess. I could have eaten those little Dogs, but I’m a Good Boy and I don’t do Stuff like that. I let the Man pet me and he Admired me and Essa because we are Handsome Dogs with an Excellent Pack!
It was a couple of days after that when my Alpha got a box from the Evil Guy in the big Brown Truck. You might remember about that guy. I don’t like him! He comes to our door all sneaky and rings the bell and makes me Bark! like I’m a Crazy Dog and then he always gives my People whatever he’s carrying and he Runs Away like a Bad Man! My Alpha must not like him either because he never lets that Guy come inside or have Treats or anything like that.
Usually the boxes are for my Alpha Bitch Kate. She likes getting boxes with Stuff in them. But this time it was something inside for Alpha Male Orlando, and he was very excited to open the box. I could have helped him do that – I’m Excellent at opening boxes! Especially ones with paper and ribbon and Fun Stuff like that. But he didn’t ask for help, he just opened it up and there was another new Wrist Collar inside! Boy, he really likes getting those things! He showed this one to Kate, and he said it was ‘Excellent!’
I looked at that Wrist Collar pretty close and it looked boring to me. It was all metal and shiny and new, without any cool smells on it. But my Alpha liked his New Thing very much, so when he went out the Door for a People Trip (without Dogs!) I decided I better put it away safe with the other Wrist Collar from before. That way nothing Bad would happen to my Alpha’s favorite Stuff. I’ll bet you thought that I had forgot where I put the first one! Not me! I can remember where every bone or Treat or Toy I ever buried is! I’m a Smart Dog!
When the People got home again there was a big Commotion. There was yelling and moving things around and so much fuss that they almost forgot to feed Dinner to the Dogs! My Alpha was Really Mad about something. So I decided to stay out of the way, except for reminding them about the Dinner thing, of course. After eating all of my Crunchy Good Things I went Outside and Barked! at the Neighbor Dogs and People passing by and dragged around a bush I had been meaning to move. Essa stayed with me because even her Bitch Kate was being Mad about stuff.
It took the People a long time to calm down that night. But finally we could come inside and climb up on the bed to sleep. I only got told to get down a couple of times, and My Alpha didn’t make me do it the last time. So I got a Good Sleep that night. The next morning some People came over to the Den early in the day. I had smelled all of them before, so they were Okay to be inside with our Pack. I got Petting and some Happy Doggie Talk from my Alpha’s Littermate, who is called Sam. She knows about that itchy spot behind my ears!
Then another couple of People came around, and that was a Lot of People for the house. I didn’t know all of them anymore, and there was one Guy that I didn’t think smelled quite right. He didn’t seem to like Dogs. I don’t Approve of People who don’t like Dogs! I kept a special eye on him. Maybe he would go Outside and fall into one of my Excellent Holes! That would teach him to mess with Sidi Dog’s Pack!
That Guy made me nervous, so I went into my Alpha’s bedroom to check on things. His little dangly body Stuff was on the table. This is the Stuff he wears around his neck and his fingers and arms. I sat down for a moment and thought about all of that. Maybe that Bad Guy was there to Steal my Alpha’s Personal Stuff! I picked up a few bits of dangly Stuff and carried it away to hide it.
“Sidi!” said my Alpha, surprising me. I turned around real quick because maybe he needed my Help! with something? He came over to me and took the dangly Stuff right out of my muzzle. I was carrying it very gently, not chewing or anything. I wagged my tail to tell him that I was a Good Boy protecting his Personal Stuff! He was very curious about how his Dog was being so thoughtful and Vigilant! I wagged my tail even more.
The People all talked for a while about the Dog, which is always a Good Thing to talk about! And then the Guy that I didn’t like picked up my Toy! Basket, just right off the floor, like he had some kind of Right to do that! I ran over there and almost growled, even though he was supposed to be Okay to be in the Den. The guy called out my Alpha’s name and showed him my secret – where I had hidden the two Wrist Collars.
My Alpha was Mad about that! I’m sure he was Mad that the Guy had touched my Toys! Basket, and the Toys! I had inside. He was probably Mad that the guy had found where the Important Personal Alpha Stuff was being kept Safe. I was Mad too! But then Orlando shook his head and laughed and said I was a very Clever Dog! He said I was a Good Thief and had Excellent taste in watches. He’s right! I can watch the whole neighborhood right through the windows, especially when they’re open!
He took his Wrist Collars and told me he was putting them away Safe. They disappeared and I never saw them again, unless they were on his arm. See, he’s Smarter now about hiding his Things from Bad Guys!
So, that’s the end of my story. I hope that you liked it and that it made you feel Good too! Remember to keep your Personal Important Stuff hidden real well. The Toy! Basket isn’t so good of a place to hide them. So bury your Stuff in the Yard.
That’s what I do now!

*Mad tail wags*
You're Good, I hope! Treats-in-Pocket Man has been in London Den a lot, but they stopped having so much fun watching the footie, and there was a lot more Stinky Drinks being drunk and growling. I think maybe they were seeing Squirrels on the talking box? Sean yells at something called 'Bloody Goaly' and throws things that aren't Food, which is a waste of time.
As for Viggo, he's my Other Number One Alpha! I can't wait to Smell him again!
*whines*
Okay, bye Now!

I have never met any Pupper-Nazis, but if you say they are almost as bad as Squirrels, then I believe you.
I wish I had a dog like you.
I love Sidi's stories!

*ponders*
You should go to the Dog Sheltering Place and get a Pack or your own! You can even get a Cat...if you're weird and Like that sort of thing. But Dogs are Better, Okay?
*licks!*

Just dropped in to say how clever you are for hiding your Alpha's Wrist Collars from the nasty Pupper-Nazis.
Would you like some Crunchy Good Things as a reward?

Crunchy Good Things? Really?!? You got some that you need a Good Dog to Eat for you? Because I could Do That, okay?
