He stands in that way, that familiar stance that speaks of him even from a distance, hands shoved in his pockets and a knee bent just so. His shoulders angle down as though a force, something demanding anyway, bore itself on either side insisting that they be. There is something stark in the way the wind whips through his hair seemingly without his notice, the clatter of leaves that hang heavy on the branches that frame his touchable heaven. The lake glistens in the moonlight.

The scene is like a reel from a melancholy film about hapless fools, lost love, wasted dreams. Except this is no film and the pain is wounding.
Further up where the bank ends, another man stands, familiar, too, the way his arms hang on either side of him, his feet evenly spaced apart. He does notice the whiplash of the wind and flips his collar to his chin. He considers approaching the lone figure in a rare stillness. He decides instead to contemplate the sudden desire to shush the howling currents of air, almost violent in their need for attention, and to render pity upon he who is mute and so forlorn. He is pensive in his longing to comfort.
It is to fall in love with the sadness of another.*
He is still contemplating when they are facing each other and he tilts his head down because he is taller. When they kiss, it is gentle and unhurried, a relief of homecoming and realization.

Note: Asterisked line borrowed from “The First Dream” by Billy Collins – “… you might have gone down as the first person to ever fall in love with the sadness of another.”

Without a doubt, Aragorn and Legolas . . .

And under the tree is Aragorn, I think, from the pose and the not caring about the hair whirling around. The one standing "straight" and noticing the hair movement has to be Legolas . . .
Well, whatever pairing anyone sees, it was a lovely piece of writing.
