fellowshippers | Monaboyd Factfile

Hello there, everyone! I mentioned in a fic I posted here a day or two ago that I wanted to do a sort of Monaboyd Encyclopaedia, filled with facts about Dom and Billy. Since this is RPS, people who write fics for the pairing have no definitive canon to work from, instead relying on their own and other people's knowledge, as well as websites. I think it would be really useful to have a single LJ post that everybody could refer to when writing, to make sure that their facts were correct.

The kind of thing that will be in there is stuff like "Billy has green eyes", "Dom has weirdly long fingers", "Billy hates cinnamon", and so on and so forth. Once we've got everything we can think of, it'll be divided up into sections such as likes and dislikes, personality, looks etc. I was thinking that we could have the essential facts about the other members of the LotR cast in a section as well, just to provide a good overview, as well as extra accuracy.

Naturally, it would be best to get lots of people involved so we can have a plethora of knowledge to draw from, and

travelqueen_ and

loozy have already kindly volunteered to work with me. What I'm asking now is...Any other takers?

We intend to do it via e-mail, as they can be sent to lots of people at once and easily added to. It should be fun! If you want to help, leave a comment in this post so I can friend you, and if you wouldn't mind, your e-mail as well. Yeah, I'd be willing to help. I meant to comment on the thread but I'm lazy. My email is viktoria_angelique@hotmail.com. Also I wonder if maybe people from different pairings should get involved with this? I mean, if it's basically facts about the individual actors, then it'd be helpful to have a general encyclopedic database of knowledge... perhaps there could be some delegates who'd be willing to contribute knowledge on Viggo, Elijah, Orlando, etc as well. Or not. If you think this is a good idea I'd be willing to post to a couple of other comms, but if you want to keep it monaboyd that's just as well.

No, that'd be brilliant! I generally stick with monaboyd so my knowledge of the other actors is alright, but not expert. Would you be willing to be one of the delegates? That is, if you want to be. Please do post around!

Yeah, I'm certainly willing to contribute any info I can about, well, anybody! :-) I'm sort of known for being the pairings schizophrenic in the fandom, so I just have random knowledge about random actors floating around in my head... I'll put a few posts up today in the comm and I'll link back to this thread asking for folk's emails and the actor(s) they're familliar with. Once we get the emails going, I'd also be happy to do fact-checking for the non-monaboyd people... I'm guessing that if you have a lot of people sending in email about what they know about the actors, you're going to get some things that people are unsure of or is perhaps a tidbit that's embraced by the fandom but may or may not be true in r/l. I have a lot of research experience so I don't mind trying to verify things if this would be helpful. Anyway, yeah, a big resounding "yay!" for this project... I am such a nerd. I'm indexing the entire LOTR verse (Rings, Silmarillion, etc) on my computer just so that I have a handy place to check names and such when I reread the books. Um, yeah. Data collection is so my thing :-)

Yes, I think it would be smart if something is unconfirmed to at least mark it as such. One example is that Harry Sinclair is always drinking port in stories. Now because it happens so much I doubt it's just a coincidence, and if I looked I'd probably be able to find some r/l reference that this comes from, but if that wasn't verifiable, then I would say include "Harry likes to drink port" but just say "uncomfirmed" or "no source found" or something... in general, it's always a good idea to cover your arse. I don't think people understand the meaning of "for fun," these days. Everything has to have a disclaimer! (Says the woman who's about to start three years of law school...)

Fantastic idea - I get the feeling you're the one that should be organising this - you're just...wow....so organised. I really am a scatterbrain, but I do my best!

Yep, disclaimers really get on my nerves, but I suppose they are necessary. People really don't understand "for fun", do they? I'm involved with girlguiding and we have to fill out forms for *everything*, it's ridiculous!!

Law school? Wow.

Yes, my motivations for law school have nothing to do with disclaimers and contracts and pickiness (I want to do human rights law), but everyone has to go through those lectures in first year all the same.

Me, I'm only organised when it comes to other peoples' things. If it were my project, I'd be horrible. And, speaking of which, I put up a post on a Domlijah and a Vigorli community, as well as an update on fellow_shippers, this morning, so hopefully there will be some takers!

My OTP is Dom/Elijah, so they're the ones I know most about, but I read around my OTP a lot.
