Disclaimer: Not mine, these men are there own, they are human so this fic can’t be real, I don’t think Viggo and Shane know each other and as much I don’t want to believe it this is all in my imagination. I mean no harm by it, this is all in good fun.

Summary: Eons ago Heaven and Hell made rules that would allow them to live in peace with each other. When one Demon breaks the most sacred of these laws the consequences are dire.
Part 6
Punishment
The Place Between:-
While Viggo spoke he had collected something from the chest. As he finished he returned to the side of the bed, lifting a thin cane he brought it down hard upon Shane’s body. The cane cut the air with a whistle, stinging Shane’s chest and causing him to cry out at the foreign pain that sliced through him.
Viggo continued for what felt like forever to the Demon, the only sounds within the room those of the cane and the cries of agony he released.
Viggo covered the Demons body in bloodied welts until he finally passed out.
As Shane lost consciousness Viggo dropped the cane. Stepping back from the bed he momentarily closed his eyes against the image before him. Turning he sat in his chair, resting his head in his hands.
Lucifer had been right about why Heaven had really chosen Viggo for this task. Any other Angel feeling the pain radiating from the creature before him, even a Demon as he was, would have softened their punishment, or stopped it completely, releasing him without finishing. And, though Viggo truly wanted to, it could not happen, not now, no, he must continue. The laws stated what must be done and he would do it. When blood was drawn it showed a willingness in the Angel or Demon to break the ancient laws, laws that ensured the balance of their worlds, of their very existence. The being that demonstrated a willingness to disregard these laws illustrated that their own world did not have enough control over them and so they must be broken. They must be bent to the will of one prepared to act for the continued peace and existence of both worlds. Viggo knew this and would complete his task yet he dreaded to succeed. He knew what had happened 5000 years ago when these laws had last been broken and he did not want history to repeat itself. He would extract Heavens retribution but he knew in his heart that when the week ended the repercussions would last forever.
Lucifer had known this and Viggo could still see the sadness and loss in his old friend’s eyes. Shaking his head to rid himself of such thoughts, knowing that they would prevent him from fully acting upon Heaven’s behalf he sat back and waited for Shane to awaken.

Shane awoke once more to blinding agony and moaned in pain. Viggo looked up at the sound.
“You’re awake I see, boy.”
“Please…” Shane’s voice came out horse and deep, “…please, my lord, the pain, it’s…” Shane knew he was begging but he didn’t care. At this point all he wanted was for the pain to stop.
Viggo half smiled and then stood, walking to the edge of the bed.
“You caused another pain. Surely this is not more than you deserve?” Viggo questioned.
“Please, it’s too much, make it stop.”
Viggo shook his head, “Your pain will not stop until you have truly realised that it is no more than you deserve for your actions.”
“But, my Lord, I…”
“No, boy, not this time.” Viggo said, his voice brooking not arguments. Shane could have cried at that moment for he knew the Angel Lord would not heal his pain.
Viggo reached up and undid Shane’s restraints, allowing him to pull his arms down. Silently he returned to his chair, watching the young demon shiver in pain. He knew he was close to completing the first stage of the retribution, he could feel Shane’s understanding growing and he was glad of it for he did not wish to continue causing such mindless pain.
“Come here, boy.” Viggo commanded, knowing full well that moving would cause Shane great agony.
Struggling, Shane rose from the bed, each deep gash on his front protesting at the pain his movements caused.
Viggo waited patiently as Shane rose weakly to his feet and made his slow and unsteady way across the room. The journey seemed to Shane as though it lasted forever but finally he stood before the ancient Angel. Shane could feel his legs shaking and all he wanted to do was to collapse at Viggo’s feet.
“Stay standing,” Viggo knew his order would cause Shane problems, but that was the point. “And look at me.”
Shane struggled to stay on his feet while meeting the Angels gaze.
“You will stay standing no matter what happens, do you understand?”
“Yes, my Lord.” Shane whispered. His throat felt like it had not been used for an eternity, but then he did not know how much time had passed in this world. Maybe it hadn’t been.
Viggo stood and walked around Shane, his hand trailing gently and agonisingly over the welts and cuts covering Shane. Finally standing behind the young Demon he was presented with the unbroken skin of his back.
Reaching around Shane he forced a ball gag into his mouth making him struggle and start to choke.
“Be still, boy.” Viggo hissed in his ear making Shane still his movement, heaving panicked breaths passed the gag.
“You struck a being of light, you shall never forget the punishment for this action.”
Viggo closed his eyes and a knife materialised in his hand. Slowly he started to cut, writing one word over and over in the demons skin. RETRIBUTION.
