Title: "I had to find you"
Pairing: BB/MO
Rating: PG
Notes: AU in noirverse (an RP which is based on noir films. Billy is a cop, Miranda is a singer at a club, Dom is a mobster, Elijah's a bartender, etc.). Lyrics from "The Scientist" by Coldplay. Based on lotr_noir. This fic is for Cara , whose fics never cease to amaze and touch me! <3
Warning: No beta, and I'm not that great at writing so I hope it's okay!
Billy clenched Miranda's hand in his, looking over at her face, softly lit by the moonlight through the curtains. His mind wandered over ths night's events, over the last three weeks, over every moment of Miranda being in his life.
He remembered listening to her sing in her deep, breathy, alto tones, the blues ringing out in every note. From the moment he first heard her sing, he knew that he'd fall in love with her. He knew he'd live and die for her. A feeling he thought he'd lost all those years ago.
Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry you don't know how lovely you are
He remembered the first time Miranda smiled at him and looked deep into his darkened green eyes. Eyes that had sparkled long ago, but whose light had been dimmed by years of police work. Years of being alone, tortured by the memory of Maria's death. Miranda was able to make them shine again. Despite everything they both had been though, she still managed to make him smile. They'd found happiness and comfort ... and love in eachother.
Nobody said it was easy, No one ever said it would be so hard
And he'd almost lost her. The thought wouldn't leave his mind as he caressed her cheek. The pain from the bullet in his shoulder throbbed so hard he could barely breathe, but he continued to stroke her face, needing to make sure she was still there. Everyday she'd been gone he thought he'd seen her, or heard her voice, or felt her touch. He would lie in bed at night, tortured by thought of her suffering, not having any idea where she could be. When he finally fell asleep from exhaustion he would wake to see Miranda lying next to him, smiling over at him. He had to make sure that this time she wasn't just a dream. That she wouldn't fade away, as she had those endless nights.
Running in cirlces, chasing our tails, coming back as we are
He'd searched for her endlessly. He went days without sleep, only to end up empty-handed. Then he'd heard about Cate. Monaghan's girlfriend. All the facts matched Miranda's dissapearance. His sworn enemy was now his only ally. Hesitantly, and much against his better judgement (but who listens to that at a time like this?), he enlisted Dominic's help. All for her. All to hear her laugh. To see her smile. To feel her satin skin under his fingers once more. He'd risked his life for her. He'd been shot for her. He'd probably be stuck in this bed for days because of her. And why?
He glanced over at her once more and noticed a small smile forming on her lips as she slept.
That was all the reason he needed to do it a hundred times over. He'd do it all again - for her.
