Summary: A kiss for Elijah.
Author's Notes: Something short and fluffy that we wrote a long time ago. Enjoy the silliness!

Elijah hid in the darkness behind the camera, watching Viggo. He was shooting a mini interview for the release of Return. Elijah could not believe just how good it felt to see Viggo again. Since pickups had finished, he managed to spend time with most of the other fellowship actors, even a few days visiting Bean, but he avoided Viggo.

Elijah had realized something when they had hugged goodbye in New Zealand. Realized it deeply as he gazed up into Viggo's face and whispered, "By your life or death?" He did not know, on a conscious level, why he suddenly felt the need for reassurance from Viggo that at least a part of him would always be their Strider, but right then he did.

Shaking his head to break the force of his memories, Elijah saw the interview was coming to an end and started to back away, not wanting Viggo to realize he had been watching him silently. But even as he stepped away, the same realization washed over him like waves on a still lake, and he sighed deeply, alerting people that there was someone else there.

Viggo noticed heads turn as he finished and glanced curiously in that direction.  When he saw Elijah, his smile almost tore off his mouth.  One step, two, three, and he swept Elijah up into a huge hug of joy.  "By my life or death, Doodle."

Elijah's squeal was happy. He hugged Viggo back tightly, wrapping himself monkey-like around Viggo and beaming at him. "I missed you, insane man.” He leant back enough to grin at him like a loon. "Hi," was whispered before he buried his face in Viggo's shoulder. "We missed you, Strider."

"We missed you too, Doodle," Viggo laughed, sticking his tongue out as many cameras flashed in their direction.  "How have you been?"  He began to move toward the entrance, still hauling Elijah along.

Elijah giggled and gave the cameras his best 'I'm-so-cute-and-you-all-love-me' look, before he grinned at Viggo. "Um... good, bad... up, down... but mostly ok." He wrinkled his nose before offering regretfully, "I can walk, if you want me to?"

"Do you want to?" Viggo asked, knowing the answer perfectly well.  No hobbit walked if he could be carried, and the question was perfunctory.

Snickering, Elijah replied with a loud, "Hell no!" And clung tighter to his Ranger, the Ranger... he's not mine ... remember that brain! Viggo is not mine.

"Its hard to believe we're here already."  He paused to mug for a few more shots and wave at some screaming girls.  "A few more nights, and this will all be behind us."

Elijah’s reply to Viggo was delayed until they where inside. Ears ringing in the sudden silence of the hotel, Elijah asked softly, "Will it ever really be behind us, Viggy? I mean... Rings changed us all so very fucking much... can something that... pivotal ever be left behind? Do we even want to?"

"I don't ever want to stop being your friend... or lose any of the friends I made during Rings.  Nothing important ever really leaves us, Doodle."  He watched Elijah's expressive eyes, seeing the sad nostalgia in them.  "Still, we all want to move on, too... don't we?  There is so much more ahead."

"I... I guess right now I'm... I'm seeing more of what's behind than what's ahead..." He sighed softly, eyes darkening even further with memories. "I don't want to lose you or anyone else though... I'm glad you don't either." He nuzzled his face into Viggo's neck for a long moment before whispering, "Glad you're here, Your Majesty..."

"Where else would I be?" Viggo whispered, his arms tightening around Elijah for another hug. "Now, shall we check in, little hobbit, or go get something to eat? Being a movie star is hard work."

"Why don't you check in and then come up to mine... and I'll order room service? There is no way we can get out and about without far more attention than I think either of us wants. The next few days will be FULL of screaming fans."

"And hobbits and elves jumping all over me," Viggo added with a sly smile. He lifted one eyebrow and grinned cheekily at Elijah. "I say, did you just invite me up to your room? You should be careful issuing invitations like that... you never know what devious perversion I might be planning."

Elijah laughed, shaking his head as he looked at Viggo, dropping his feet to the floor so Viggo could head to the counter. "Viggo, you've been in my home, my hotel room and one night we even camped out under the stars together... I think I know that that whatever devious perversions you might perform on others... I'm safe." He hid his sadness with such skill he was hardly aware of it himself.

"Who's been talking now?" Viggo asked with effected weariness, though his eyes still laughed. He took Elijah's hand and skipped through the lobby, inspired by several gawking guests. Leaning on the counter, he said, "I'm Elijah Wood."

Elijah laughed, but leaned onto the counter and added, "And I'm Viggo Mortensen..." He giggled at the guy's face and poked Viggo in the side. "I don't think he believes us."

"Well, we are those people," Viggo said with a grin. The clerk nodded a little dubiously, but began to get their room assignments. "So, really, who's been on the jungle tom-toms?"

"About you?" Elijah grinned evilly. "Oh Viggo, my dear, dear man" -Elijah was doing his best Ian- "who hasn't been?"

"Well, hopefully not Urias," Viggo said gloomily. He took his key with a murmured thank you to the clerk and waited for Elijah, before almost pulling him into the elevator at top speed. "What room are you?"

Elijah giggled a little. "You're manhandling me again, Viggy..." And he grinned, taking hold of Viggo's wrist and checking his room number. "I'm directly across the hall from you."

"Ah, the hotel clerk must think we're up to perversions, even if you don't." He released Elijah's hand and tugged him into another hug. "I'm sorry I haven't been around since ROTK finished. I have missed you a lot."

"I've missed you too, Vig..." He hugged back happily. "We all have... the Fellowship isn't the same when we aren't all there... but... I know what conflicting schedules are like, my friend."

"I've no reason to go to my room... if you want to just go to yours and order. Unless you think I smell like Strider." The elevator stopped, and they walked out, heading for the large suites.

Elijah pulled his own door card and grinned. "So you're all mine, are you?" He gave Viggo an evil leer. "You know it could be my perversions that you have to worry about, you know Viggy..." He pulled Viggo into his suite with a smile.

"Really?" Viggo sounded both amused and interested at the same time. "I always thought you preferred tall German girls."

Elijah looked blank for a moment, before his eyes widened and he shuddered. "Vig... I'm gay." And he headed over to get the room service menu.

Viggo followed after him and gave him a hug from the back. "I know. I didn't mean to offend you. The things we do for our careers... there have been no end of times I wanted to bend you over and just snog the Hell out of you."

Elijah whimpered very, very softly and pressed back against Viggo suddenly, asking a moment later, "Why didn't you?"

"New Line's threats really didn't concern me much, but I did believe PJ would rip off my balls. Besides, I didn't want to endanger the movie in anyway... even though I think their reasons are for shit." He rested his chin in Elijah's hair, opening the menu to read.

"And now? With it all over... what do you want to do now?" There was a breathless note of hope in Elijah's voice as he stared sightlessly down at the open menu.

The soft hopeful plea in Elijah's questions was not lost on Viggo. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully in the soft hair, enjoying the feel against his now beardless skin. "I wouldn't mind giving it a try."

"I... I wouldn't mind if you... if you gave it a try..." Elijah pressed back against Viggo firmly, his back now flush against Viggo's front. "In fact I think I'd really like it."

"You've been hiding secrets of your own, Doodle?" Viggo asked, closing the menu soundlessly and turning Elijah to face him.

"Secrets? No... But a secret? Yeah... maybe ... I..." He looked up at Viggo finally, whispering, "Just one."

"By my life or death?" Viggo whispered back, thinking of the last day before they left on their separate ways. He thought Elijah needed some comfort in those last minutes, reassurance that the Fellowship would never really break, but maybe he misread him.

Elijah nodded very solemnly. "I... I didn't even realize it until then... I...it suddenly hit me like an... a ... I don't know... a house falling on me or something and I realized." He looked deeply into Viggo's eyes. "I ... I didn't think you would be interested in the slightest."

"Why not?" Viggo breathed, feeling rather like a fly caught in the spider's web of Elijah's eyes. He leaned down imperceptibly.

"I... I saw just who was throwing themselves at you during filming Vig... beautiful men and woman... I'm just some geeky looking kid with big eyes.” Elijah swayed towards Viggo, unable to maintain even the smallest distance between them.

"You always do yourself injustice," Viggo murmured, his hands depositing the menu on the table and taking residence on Elijah's back. "And I think you exaggerate my own draw."

"Then you're the one doing himself an injustice." Elijah decided then and there he could not resist any longer and going to his toes, his arms linked around Viggo's neck, he pressed their lips together for a chaste kiss.

For the slightest moment, Viggo let the kiss remain that way and then he leaned down to press more firmly against the soft lips. He pulled back to smile ever so slightly, mouth still ghosting over Elijah's. "May I have a little more?"

Elijah's answer was a whisper of pure need, "Oh please, god yes. More!" And he pressed their lips together again, opening his mouth to suck Viggo's lower lip inside.

Uttering one of his mad little laughs, Viggo kept his word, swooping Elijah back. His lips opened fully to Elijah, wet tongue sneaking out to find its mate and tease gently.

Elijah's giggle was caught in their mouths as he clung to Viggo,
surrendering to the kiss, and the man, happily. His tongue explored Viggo's as soft little whimpers of pleasure escaped him.

The whimpers encouraged Viggo to intensify the kiss. His long tongue took advantage of the situation to ravage Elijah's mouth and force a surrender of its partner. He lifted his arms slightly, so all of Elijah's weight rested in them.

Elijah giggled again, realizing suddenly that at this moment he was without a doubt the girl in the kiss, but the brief thought was washed away by the flood of desire the kiss raised in him. He did not fight against Viggo, surrendering with pleasure, as the kiss went on and on.

Eventually, Viggo's back and arms began to ache, and he raised Elijah up reluctantly. Their mouths parted with a wet, slightly dirty noise. Viggo lingered near Elijah, their faces still brushing against each other now and then.

Elijah shivered slightly at the desire that was swamping his senses, taking long deep breaths of much needed air, trying to control himself as his blue eyes searched Viggo's face.

"How was that?" Viggo asked his tone deep and rich with barely concealed delight and desire. He did not step away from Elijah, backing him up a little into the table instead.

"Better than I dreamed..." And he caught Viggo's lips again, delving into Viggo's mouth as he pressed their bodies together eagerly.

Carefully, Viggo separated their mouths, not wanting to get too carried away yet. There were a few things he wanted to know first. "How long have you dreamed?"

"Dreamed? Or hungered after in a serious nature?" Elijah made it clear they were two different things.

"Hungered after in a serious manner," Viggo said, his hands unable to cease roaming a little on Elijah's pliant body.

Elijah sighed softly before confessing in a soft whisper, "Just as we hugged goodbye from King’s pickups..." He looked down at their bodies pressing together. "That's why I asked... what I did... I realized suddenly just how important you had become. It frightened me a little."

This gave Viggo pause for a moment, his hands stilled on Elijah, though their bodies remained close. "I did not understand at the time... Elijah, I wasn't expecting this when I came here... what would you like from me?"

"I know you didn't understand it at the time, Vig... I hardly did..." He nibbled on his lip as he thought about Viggo's question. "I would like a chance."

"A chance to do what?" Viggo asked, though he knew deep down in his bones. He wanted to hear it from Elijah's mouth, wanted a chance for his own brain and heart to wage a war over the idea.

"To be with you... to... to see if you could come to feel for me the way I do about you?" Elijah felt very small and unsure all of a sudden.

"Do you really?" Viggo breathed, his eyes closing for a moment at the words. His insides lurched and leaped in the mad way they did when something unexpected and pleasurable suddenly appeared before him. His brain offered the same tired problems from before- age, maturity, fame, Henry- but his heart batted them down like flies.

"I... I do, yes." He looked up at Viggo and spoke softly, "We're already friends... we know a great deal about each other and have managed to navigate the age difference with remarkable ease so far. I know it will be different, if we are romantically involved, but I also think it's a good start for us, too."

Viggo nuzzled his cheek a little and then smiled. "Elijah Wood, will you accompany me to dinner tonight?"

Elijah's smile started slowly, but soon bloomed into an expression of pure joy as he whispered, "I'd love to Viggo." He brushed a light kiss across Viggo's lips. "So very much."

Stepping a little away from Elijah took a lot of self control, but Viggo wanted to do this right. The other man did not want a fling, and Viggo needed to be sure he could offer him more. "How about we go down to the dining room and be a bit more formal than we planned?"

Elijah nodded, his face showing a combination of eagerness and nerves. "I... I would like that... do... should I change my clothes?" He glanced down at his rather casual jeans and buttoned up shirt.

"I don't think we need to be that formal... just in public and well, couply." He offered Elijah his hand.

Elijah's smile was bright and full of hope as he took Viggo's hand. "Sounds lovely."

What a beautiful little story to find on a cold, damp, miserable Sunday afternoon - especially being an avid Vig/Lij lover!!

You have the characterisation exactly how'd I imagine it to be. Well done! Thanks for that.
