Notes: On July 6th, 2003, savageseraph posted a short letter in her LJ (from Harry Sinclair to Sean Bean) with the intent of prodding me into working faster on a shared WIP. "Sean" responded in kind in my own LJ, and so began some friendly writer-to-writer taunting. ...Which rapidly and quite unexpectedly began to develop its own plot, spinning entirely off from the original WIP. To date there are 79 epistolary installments and it continues to grow. We always planned to post the full story to the wider LotRPS community, but given the length and breadth of the project, we've decided there's no real point in waiting until then. (Parts are currently posted to our own LJs first, then sons_of_gondor, then other comms.)

A/N: This story is for pippinmctaggart, who requested kilts, dancing and schmoopy humour, and that there be no jealousy, angst or bare feet. I hope very much that this fits the bill. In preparing this, I researched Scottish weddings extensively. Many traditions are kept intact in this story, but many are not. The words that are spoken are mostly made up for the occasion, with the exception of the vows.
A note on the Gaelic. The vows I found online, and played with the pronouns and genders. Their translations are right underneath them. Here are translations for the terms of endearment used in the story:

Mo cridhe (pronounced roughly "mo cree-yeh") = My heart
Mo rùin (pronounced roughly "mo roon") = My darling
Mo chéile (prounced roughly "mo khay-leh") = My husband
Mo leannan (pronounced roughly "mo law-nun") = My lover
