I refuse to admit to myself how long this took to write. I've not written anything in a long time, never mind anything this long.

Word count: 3047

Disclaimer: This never happened, I'm making everything up. Also, I'm not making any money from this.

Billy had stopped drinking whiskey when the burn in his throat eased, there wasn't much point after that. He was using the burn to distract himself. His fingers skimmed the side of his pint glass as his eyes connected with two figures on the dance floor, two figures twisting and swaying with the beat of the music, barely any breathing space between them. He lifted his pint glass to his lips and made a silent toast to his own dumb luck just as Dom dipped Elijah back and kissed him flush on the lips. The bitterness of his beer didn't provide the same distraction.

He waved down the bartender determined to drown his sorrow in yet another beer, hoping he wouldn't remember this feeling of loss low in his stomach tomorrow. A hangover he could deal with but rejection before he had made his feelings known he couldn't. He half turned towards Viggo to offer another beer just as Orlando pulled the other man from his stool. A harder tug on Viggo's sleeve lead to Orlando stumbling backwards, Viggo catching him before he could hit the floor. Laughter forced Billy's eyes to the dance floor in time to see Dom and Elijah clutching each other, holding themselves up at the sight of Orlando falling. Closing his eyes Billy turned back to the bar and ordered a beer along with another whiskey. Sod this being sociable lark, he told himself, get plastered and get home. Alone.

Billy could feel the beat pulse through his body, the bar shook a little with the force of the bass; the music wasn't loud just powerful and energetic. He forcefully kept his eyes from the dance floor but images floated beneath his eyelids despite his best efforts. Dom with his arms wrapped around Elijah's waist pulling their hips together, Elijah with his arms around Dom's neck angling his head closer to his own, forcing them to maintain eye contact. The image of them laughing and whispering to each other pulled Billy further into himself, he wanted that closeness and he wanted it with Dom.

The sound of people gasping drew Billy's eyes back to the dance floor despite himself. Dom and Elijah were stationary, straining themselves to stare at a couple a few feet away. The laugh that escaped Billy's lips contained more venom than he thought possible. The sight of Viggo and Orlando grinding against each other on the dance floor was hardly surprising, he just wished he hadn't witnessed it. He knew it was petty but it was true to him. The sight was torture, pure and simple. He wanted to be the one shocking people, amazing people, causing that heat in onlookers eyes and he wanted to do it with Dom.

Dom, Dom, bloody Dom. Everything was about him these days; weeks, months if he was honest with himself. The width of his chest, the shape of his shoulders, the curve of his neck. The way his eyes looked sharper when he was confused... Like the look Billy was currently receiving. It took a moment for Billy to register what his eyes were seeing, Dom was looking at him confused and a little concerned. It took all the effort Billy had to shake his head and turn away. He didn't want pity or concern, he wanted Dom.

Viggo nodded at him as he came back to drain his beer before leaving. At least someone was getting out in one piece. Billy's eyes caught his reflection in the mirror behind the bar, he could see lines of tiredness etched in his skin. There was a droop to his eyes that made him look older and more world-weary than he had ever seen in himself before. The frown he wore created lines across his forehead not usually visible on a regular day. Was it surprising Dom had chosen to spend his time with Elijah? Elijah with his flawless skin and his perfect eyes. His face didn't show lines of age, only those of laughter which Billy knew no-one could resist, more importantly Dom couldn't resist. Billy couldn't give a damn about anyone else right now. His world seemed contained to himself and his friends on the dance floor. He couldn't blame Elijah in this, Billy imagined once Dom had you in his sights you couldn't turn him down. He was stubborn and persuasive and damned irresistible. He shuddered at the thought of Dom turning that charm onto him. To be so powerless under his gaze you would willingly do anything he asked, even if he didn't say the words. He could strip you naked and parade you around the town but you would do it to make him happy. Anything to make him happy.

Billy caught his gaze again in the mirror and blinked at the reflection. This wasn't the man he wanted Dom to fall in love with. Dom knew him as someone he could rely on to take control when situations went wrong, the one that could always get everyone home safe and sound even when he'd had a skin full himself. The Billy in the mirror was a beaten man, weak and defenceless in a difficult situation. Scared, of rejection, of being hurt. Mirror Billy didn't stand up for himself and make himself heard. Realisation dawned in his eyes, if he could stand back and watch himself he knew he would laugh at what he had been reduced to, he picked up the last of his whiskey and drained the glass. If he wanted Dominic he would have to go and get him. Nodding to his reflection he straightened his shirt and turned to the dance floor.

Dom was once again caught up in the music and Elijah. There might as well have been no-one else on the dance floor the way he was moving. His hips collided with strangers dancing around him, he rocked Elijah to the beat so shoulders brushed with other seemingly oblivious couples. Billy focused on the glimpse of Dom's hips he could see between the crowd, the jeans hung low and as he swayed away from Billy flashes of pale skin could be seen. Licking his lips he pushed himself between couples ignoring the looks thrown in his direction as he interrupted. He wanted to get to Dom and he would go through anyone necessary, regardless of what they thought. Smiling slightly he wondered what Elijah would think when he finally joined them, would he be pissed with Billy? Would he argue with Billy over who had claim to Dominic and his attention? Billy realised he didn't much care, he knew it should shock him, Elijah was his friend after all, but the need for action soon clouded any feelings of doubt.

After reaching his target he stopped for a moment, unnoticed by the pair, watching Dom's back. He desperately wanted to reach out to touch and hold but he knew he had to collect himself. There was only one shot at this and it had to be right. It took Billy a few steadying breaths before he allowed his hands to reach out and slide across Dom's hips, bunching his shirt slightly to let his fingers brush skin. The heat pouring from Dom's body made Billy's fingers tingle and squeeze involuntarily as he stepped forward, his body resting against Dom's back. Dom may have been a few inches taller but Billy could still look over his shoulder and meet Elijah's gaze.

The smile dropped from Elijah’s face when he saw the look in Billy's eyes, a look hungry with desire and possession. Dom's head twisted round to look at Billy, a grin breaking across his face when he recognised his friend. The grin soon faded when he noticed the look being exchanged between the two men, Billy felt Dom tense slightly under his fingers and he squeezed Dom’s hips before he had chance to speak. Pulling Dom back closer against his chest Billy turned his face a little to brush his cheek against Dom's whilst keeping eye contact with Elijah; in response Elijah's eyes widened and the smaller man took a small step back, unable to move further away with Dom's arms still around his waist. Smiling at Elijah's reaction Billy turned further towards Dom and allowed his lips to brush along his cheekbone and down to his ear. He could hear Dom's breathing hitch slightly at the touch and Elijah breathe a near silent 'Oh!'. Looking straight at Elijah he nodded and flicked his gaze over towards the bar, silently begging Elijah to leave them alone. It took a moment for realisation to dawn in Elijah’s eyes before he nodded to Dom and left, a little smile playing at the corners of his lips.

As shocked as Elijah was with what had unfolded in front of his eyes he had always felt it would happen sooner or later. It seemed obvious to everyone except Billy and Dom. The looks they shared, how well they got on, how good they looked just standing next to each other laughing. They were practically together already, he thought, they might as well get the physical side sorted as well. His thoughts lingered on the possible physical aspect of their relationship, his cheeks flushed red and he shook his head as if to shake the images from his head. Yeah, they would look good together there as well.

The couple on the dance floor stood watching Elijah’s back until he was no longer visible through the crowd. Dom tried to turn to face Billy but he felt hands grip him tighter and he remained still, resting his cheek against the slightly smaller man‘s. Allowing the moment of control to linger, Billy relished the feeling of Dom beneath his fingers. Squeezing Dom’s hips he felt the muscles tight with anticipation and skin clammy from the heat of the bar. In time he pulled Dom back and began to sway with the music. He kept his movements slight, barely visible to those around but enough to feel the way their bodies felt together, he could feel muscles shift under his fingers with the slight effort Dom exerted.

They found a steady rhythm as they pushed harder against each other, Billy still controlling their actions but both were free to move in time with each other. In slow brushes he allowed his hands to trail across Dom’s stomach feeling the muscles contract at the feather light touches. He dragged his fingers through the light tangle of hair on Dom’s lower stomach before moving his hands back, resting them lower on his hips. He squeezed tighter and felt Dom’s gasp against his chest as he shifted more against Billy, pushing his hips backwards. The movement caused them both to pause and shoot a quick glance at one another from the corner’s of their eyes. They may have danced together before but this was more intimate and a little unnatural for them both. Seconds passed as they stood watching each other, trying to gauge each others feelings. Billy could feel his resolve slipping, if this didn’t happen tonight he doubted he could try again. Flexing his fingers on Dom’s hips he pushed his hips forward, grinding himself into Dom. He recognised the look of shock from Dom but chose to ignore it. Leaning forward he pressed his lips to Dom’s ear, “I’m leaving now Dominic and I would like you to join me…”. Feeling heat rise up his body he turned quickly and headed towards the door, not looking to see if Dom followed.

The walk to Billy’s apartment passed in a blur for Dom. The background noise of passers-by and music from other clubs created a buzz in the back of Dom’s mind, all he could hear clearly were Billy’s last words to him. What did he mean by them? Why did he leave as soon as he said it? In the club Dom had tried to call Billy back to him but either the music was too loud or Billy ignored him. He had spent a long moment staring at Billy’s back as he walked away, unsure of himself now he was stood alone on the dance floor. He could go running after Billy or stay and find Elijah. Option A meant he stood the chance of looking like an idiot, Billy might have said that completely innocently. Option B meant the possibility of missing out on something amazing…Turning quickly he caught sight of Elijah shaking his head pointing towards the door Billy just left through. Squinting at the flashes of light he saw the man mouth the words ‘Go after him, wanker…’

It seemed like the obvious solution at the time but now he was stood on Billy’s doorstep he wasn’t sure. He could see a light shining through the curtains but the gap wasn’t big enough to see what Billy was doing. He shouldn’t feel this nervous knocking on his best mate’s door but still his hand shook as he raised it, he tightened it into a fist to settle himself down before giving the door a couple of sharp knocks. If Billy didn’t answer the first time he would leave, he knew that. He could say he tried but thought Billy had fallen asleep, or maybe that Elijah distracted him back at the club. Anything to save him the embarrassment of being wrong.

The door opened slowly as Billy looked round the edge, if Dom had been paying attention he would have seen the flicker of nerves in Billy’s eyes but instead he focused on Billy’s hand gripping the edge of the door. The door opened fully and Billy stood to the side allowing Dom to enter, the silence unnerved Dom a little, there was no welcome or questions that he was there. Just…acceptance. He knew this should mean something but he couldn’t settle on what exactly. Billy didn’t seem surprised he was there and that was all that was important to Dom just then.

The house was warm, Billy hated the cold, and music played softly in the background. Dom took his time removing his coat, keeping his eyes firmly away from Billy, concentrating on the Stereophonics singing about actions having consequences. The irony wasn’t lost on Dom. The hand that brushed his to take the coat was warm and caused Dom to flinch away like he had been shocked, if Billy noticed he remained silent and motioned for Dom to go to the sitting room. A small lamp had been lit which cast a warm, welcoming glow around the room. Dom stopped walking when he spotted two bottles of beer sat on the table, condensation rolling down the side. Billy had been expecting him…

Billy stopped only a step behind Dom and watched as the realisation dawned on Dom’s face. Without thinking his hand touched Dom’s waist and pushed him towards the sofa. He could feel the tension in the air, Dom normally wouldn’t have stood waiting. His jacket would be thrown onto a spare chair and he would have spread himself full length on the sofa, grabbing his beer and half draining it before throwing a casual ‘Cheers mate’ over his shoulder. Tonight it seemed like he was waiting for permission.

The pressure on his waist urged him forward towards the sofa and his drink. He could feel Billy behind him but still couldn’t find the right words to break the silence. Silence had never been an option for them before, every moment was filled with some kind of noise whether it be a grand debate, nonsense jokes or drunken ramblings. Tonight it hung in the air, he could feel it on his skin, prickling at him, begging for attention.

Sitting down he reached for his bottle before turning towards Billy, who looked surprisingly uncomfortable! The realisation shook him, as much as he thought he had misread the signs he barely allowed himself to believe he could have been right. Maybe Billy did want…something but didn’t know how to get it. Or maybe Billy had changed his mind, he didn’t want this after all and didn‘t know how to break the news. Putting his bottle back on the table he settled back on the sofa and gently touched Billy’s arm, taking a deep breath he forced himself to speak, ‘Bill, do you want to talk?’.

A held breath broke from Billy and he closed his eyes before settling back beside Dom, dislodging his arm in the process. He knew how he felt and he knew he would have to do something to get it, words didn’t seem enough anymore though but would anything else be going too far? Sighing he hesitated before lifting his hand and placing it on top of Dom’s, watching as his fingers curled to cup the larger hand beneath. Dom’s hand was cool to touch compared to his own which was starting to feel clammy and over heated like the rest of his body. He heard Dom’s breath catch but chose to ignore it until he had finished, he was going to make his feelings clear then deal with how much he had fucked up. Looking up wide eyes locked with Dom’s lower lip as sharp teeth chewed at the corner, reddening it before a tongue darted out to soothe it. Transfixed, Billy leant forward and didn’t close his eyes until he could feel that moisture on his own lips. Their lips brushed against each other whilst Dom turned his hand to twine their fingers together, Billy’s thoughts flickered to how easy this was but chose to ignore it. There was only time to register the fullness of Dom’s lower lip as Billy drew it into his mouth, the softness of Dom’s tongue as it lapped against his lip and the ringing of his phone…Billy frowned, there was something wrong with his perfect picture.

Dom groaned and pulled back, muttering about being sorry. A phone appeared from his back pocket and a grin broke across Dom’s face when he saw the display. The ringing stopped as the phone was switched off and thrown to the side. “S’only Lijah, he’ll keep. Now, where were we?”. Smirking, Billy tore his eyes from where the phone lay and leaned back towards Dom.
