Scotch on the rocks 1/?

Craig sat at a table on the broadwalk sipping his espresso. Hugo was
late. Which was worrying, Hugo was never late. So Craig worried as he
slowly sipped the hot drink. He never usually touched the stuff but
espresso brought back memories, thoughts of Australia his home with Hugo for
so long. And thoughts of Hugo. Thoughts of Hugo naked, in bed on a
lazy Sunday afternoon, totally sated, reading the papers. Their limbs
tangled together, Craig tracing patterns over the lines on Hugo's bare skin and
sipping dark black coffee. Craig blinked suddenly, pushing the
thoughts to the back of his mind as he noticed a familiar body in the
street.

~~~~~~
Hugo paced the street, debating whether meeting Craig was such a good
idea. He hadn't spoken to the man in nearly 9 months, not since New
Zealand. His heart skipped a beat as he remembered those passionate
nights shared at his place or Craig's, waking in the morning to black
coffee and Craig. Now, the only communication shared was
single-lined email sent every so often.
_Hey. How are you doing?_
_Good. And yourself?_
_Fine. How's filming?_
_Good. Start anything new?_
_Yeah. You?_
_Two._
Idle chitchat. Smalltalk. The kind reserved for strangers at parties who
felt the urge to fill the silence while standing in line at the bar.
Until the latest email.
_I'm in LA. Lunch?_
Hugo still believed it was shock which made Craig reply with a 'yes.'
He glanced at his watch. He was 5 minutes late.
He was never late.
Craig would worry.
And ask questions.
Hugo had a few questions of his own.
Why now, after all this time?
~~~~~~

Craig still wasn't sure why he'd said yes. But then again, he never
could find the strength to say no to Hugo, after all this time he
still had that pull. He sipped again and tried not to look at his
watch when he saw Hugo approach.

Damn he looked good!

//That was not what I need now// Craig thought to himself. But in
his heart he knew that was a lie.

~~~~~~
Hugo watched Craig sip his coffee as he approached. He wondered if
Craig noticed he was late. Probably. He always noticed things like
that.
~~~~~~

Craig did himself credit and didn't look at his watch until the
waitress came to seat Hugo. Damn, almost 10 minutes late!

~~~~~~
Hugo glanced at his watch again as he sat down, as unobtrusively as
possible. Bloody hell. 10 minutes late. This would raise questions
for sure.
Bad habit of Craig's, to be so damned observant.
~~~~~~

Craig thought Hugo looked a little tired round the eyes, probably
working too hard as usual, he always threw himself into parts so!

~~~~~~
Hugo felt his heart beat a little faster, damn Craig for having that
effect on him. He looked good. Real good. Looked so extremely sexy,
drinking that black coffee, dark hair falling slightly in his eyes, motions purposeful and innocent. He looked a little tired, had probably been pouring heart
and soul into his current projects.
~~~~~~

Hugo sat opposite Craig, Sipping from his cup. Craig tried not to
stare at Hugo's lips, lovely lips. //Been some lovely times with
those lips// he thought //Shut up brain! Not helping here okay!//

~~~~~~
He caught Craig staring at his lips.
Gads, just a look could turn him on.
Not fair.
Black coffee.
Last time they had drank black coffee together was 9 months ago in
Craig's trailer. They didn't say much, just sipped their coffee, and
read the paper, tension thick between them.
Hugo shook his head. Enough with the dreary thoughts and painful
memories.
"Craig."
~~~~~~

Craig looked fully into Hugo's eyes, he never could hide much from
Hugo, he seemed to look straight through him, through the facade to
the real inside.

"Yes Hugo?" Christ! Why could he never say no!

~~~~~~
"It's good to see you," Hugo said with a soft, sad smile.
~~~~~~

"Yes. It is." Craig replied trying to sound light and cheerful. "It's
nice, you know, seeing you again. Been a while huh?" //Fuck!//
thought Craig, //why not just hand him your soul on a plate! Yeah,
been too long, not since New Zealand, not since we last fucked in my
trailer, not since you...// He couldn't even finish that sentence in
his head. He looked down at his cup, hardly noticing it was empty.

~~~~~~
Hugo mentally kicked himself for inviting Craig to lunch. He'd
really fucked up this time. Did he honestly think he could just
invite Craig to lunch and everything would be forgiven? "Listen,
Craig, I'm sorry," Hugo said, folding his napkin and rising from his
chair, "this was obviously a mistake."
~~~~~~

Craig knew how much Hugo disliked creating a scene. Fuck Hugo! This
was his own life he was trying to lead. Craig didn't have to try to
conform to what Hugo wanted anymore. He stood with Hugo and grasped
his arm pulling him back towards the table.

"Fuck you Hugo! You invited me here you know." He dropped his voice to
a whisper, leaning forward and almost hissing into Hugo's ear "Do
you have any idea how fucking hard this was for me?"
