Sean pulled the car up as far onto the beach as he dared. Orlando, Dom, and Elijah jumped out of the back without even opening the door, something they said they had always wanted to do in a convertible. Billy chose to get out of the front like normal instead of chancing a jump over the door. Sean stayed in the car a little longer, sticking a tape into the tape deck.
“I’m still amazed at this car, Sean!” Elijah said excitedly, grabbing his surfboard from Orlando.
“I’m still amazed the surfboards stayed in the car with the shitty job Orlando did of packing them in!” Dom said. Orlando punched him in the arm.
“You try working with a trunk like this. I don’t think it was designed for surfboards.”
“It should have been. People surfed in the sixties!” Dom said, grabbing his surfboard.
Music started blaring from the speakers, and Sean hit the steering wheel in excitement. Elijah immediately started singing and dancing around.
“What in the hell is this?” Orlando asked.
“The Beach Boys. ‘Get Around’.” Orlando looked less than impressed. Elijah was singing “I get around, outta town…I’m a real cool kid…making real cool friends…” at an annoyingly high pitch. Dom looked at him like he had lost his marbles, and Billy was just amused.
“Elijah, damn. You sound worse than a dying cat.” Dom was only answered with more singing. “Americans.”
“I think it’s cute, even if it is terribly off pitch,” Billy said, walking up to Elijah and wrapping his arms around him. Elijah just smiled and kept singing.
“Orli, I have a perfectly restored 1965 red Mustang convertible, even if I did borrow it. I am surfing with my friends. Of course the occasion calls for The Beach Boys. What else would we listen to?” Sean asked, getting out of the car.
“The Beatles?” Dom suggested.
“Dom,” Billy said, “I’m sorry to break it to you, mate. No one wants to listen to The Beatles and surf. The Beach Boys is a much better choice.”
“Traitor,” Dom muttered. Billy just rolled his eyes.
“You like The Beach Boys?” Elijah asked excitedly as he moved closer into Billy’s embrace.
“Well, kinda. I don’t know much of their music. Not really big in Scotland.” Billy shrugged.
Sean grabbed his surfboard as he hummed along to “Wouldn’t It Be Nice”. Orlando and Dom were already heading towards the water.
“I don’t think they get it,” Sean said to Billy and Elijah. He took the keys out of the car and followed them towards the water. Billy let go of Elijah, who picked up his surfboard and headed after them, but Billy changed his mind about letting Elijah go and grabbed his hand as he walked by, pulling him towards him.
“You sing terribly,” Billy said, wrapping his arms around Elijah again. Elijah looked away embarrassed.
“I’m sorry. They sing really high. I don’t know many guys who can hit that note.”
“You’re so cute.” Billy pulled Elijah into a kiss. Elijah moved closer to him, accidentally hitting him in the head with his surfboard.
“Shit! I’m sorry, Billy!” Elijah’s eyes were wide with concern and worry. Billy laughed at how dramatic he was being.
“It’s okay. You barely bumped me. Let’s go get in the water before you kill me though.” Billy followed Elijah as he ran towards the waves singing “Catch a wave and you’re sitting on top of the world”.
-
“That last wave kicked my ass, guys,” Elijah said, falling down on the sand. Billy and Orlando were already heading back out into the water.
“I’m going to get the radio and the Beach Boys tape. Need anything?” Sean said, heading towards the car.
“Get my camera,” Elijah called behind him.
“And on that note, I’m going back into the water. Away from the American surfing music.” Dom picked up his board and walked back to the water.
“You’ll learn to love it!” Elijah yelled after him. He chuckled to himself as Sean came back with the radio.
“Here’s your camera.” He dangled the camera over Elijah’s face. Elijah grabbed it and walked nearer to the water, laying down on his stomach. He scanned the ocean for Billy and found him. Zooming in as close as he could, he saw the perfect opportunity and clicked – just as a wave sent Billy tumbling.
“Dammit!” Elijah propped his chin up on his hand and waited for Billy to go back into the water. Billy, instead, walked over and joined Elijah in the sand.
“What are you doing?” he asked, sitting his surfboard down beside him.
“Trying to get a good picture of you surfing. I had a perfect moment, but then you wiped out.”
“I’m sorry I’m such a shitty surfer.” Billy stretched his legs out in from of him, digging his toes into the sand.
“You’re getting better than me.”
“Nah. Besides, none of us will ever be as good as Orli.”
“Will any of us ever be as good as Orli at anything?” Elijah said, picking a shell out of the sand.
“I don’t think so.” Billy watched Elijah playing with the small shells he had in his hand. “You want me to go back out there, don’t you?” Elijah looked up at him, eyes bright.
“Would you? I really want a good picture of you.” Elijah watched him anxiously, causing Billy to laugh.
“You’re going to be the death of me, making me go out and surf until you get the perfect picture.” Billy leaned close to Elijah, smelling the strong scent of saltwater surrounding him.
“It’s not like you weren’t going out to surf again,” Elijah countered, leaning his forehead against Billy’s. Billy kissed Elijah quickly and stood up, running back to the water with the surfboard under his arm. Elijah situated himself on his stomach with the camera as Billy caught a wave out in the water.
Right as Elijah was about to click a picture, Dom surfed in front of Billy, totally ruining the shot.
“Fucker!” Elijah muttered, following Billy through the camera lens. Not liking the angle Billy was surfing at compared to the camera, he decided to wait until Billy’s next time.
Billy walked out of the water, followed closely by Orli. Orli made his way over to Sean, who was still listening to The Beach Boys as he read. Billy signaled to Elijah, asking if he got the picture. Shaking his head, he watched Billy trudge back into the water for another go.
Elijah smiled to himself. Billy kept going out into the water just so he could get his perfect picture. Chuckling, he realized he must really have Billy whipped.
Holding the camera steady, he waited until he saw the perfect moment. He clicked and got his picture – which was a good thing because the next second Billy was underneath the surface of the water. Elijah stood up and jogged to the edge of the water. Billy came ambling out, apparently very tired.
“I got my picture!” Elijah said, grinning broadly. Billy sighed in relief.
“I really hope it was before I crashed.” Elijah leaned forward and kissed Billy quickly before turning around and running back up the beach. Billy shook his head and followed slowly.
“I’m ready to go out now,” Elijah told Billy as he fell onto the sand beside Sean.
“Lij, baby. I’m beat. I’ve got to rest for just a couple of minutes. Dom’s still out there, isn’t he?” Billy said from the sand, not opening his eyes.
“Dom and Orli are flirting with those girls down the beach,” Sean said, pointing but not looking up from his book.
“Ah. Why doesn’t that surprise me?” Billy hit Sean’s leg playfully. “Why don’t you go surfing with him?”
“I’m reading.”
“God, Sean. You read all the time. I’m sure your book won’t be too mad at you.”
“Real funny, Bill. I’m dying here.”
“Come on, Sean! Please?” Elijah begged, his eyes even wider than usual. Billy nudged Sean’s leg again.
“Don’t make him beg. You know how annoying that can get.” Billy made a little “oomph!” sound as Elijah kicked his side softly.
“Fine. Come on, Lij. Let’s go.” Sean put his book down and grabbed his surfboard. They ran out to the water while Billy turned over to lie on his stomach, eyes still closed. He heard Orlando and Dom walk up and sit down, but still remained motionless on the ground.
“He’s gone. Quick! Turn it off!” Dom said. Billy opened one eye and saw Orlando and Dom laughing like crazy as Orli turned off the tape and hid it under a pile of towels. Billy shook his head and closed his eyes again.
Dom and Orlando were discussing and arguing about the latest football match Manchester United played when Sean and Elijah came walking back up. Elijah shook the water out of his hair, spraying it all over Billy.
“Thanks, Lij. I needed a shower,” Billy said as Elijah plopped down beside him.
“Hey! Where’s the radio!” Sean yelled, looking around. Dom and Orlando were snickering as Sean stood glaring at them. “I know you did something with it, so where is it?”
“I absolutely have no clue what you are talking about,” Dom said, repressing laughter.
“I know you hid it! Where did you hide the radio?” Sean yelled again, his face growing very red.
“Sean, it’s under the pile of towels,” Billy said from his spot in the sand. Sean retrieved the radio as Dom and Orlando grumbled in protest.
“How’d you know?” Elijah asked, leaning back on his elbows. Billy turned his head towards Elijah and opened his eyes slightly.
“I watched them when they thought I wasn’t looking.” Billy smirked and Elijah threw his head back, laughing.
“I think Sean is going to kill them before the day is over.”
“You know they all love it. All the banter back and forth. I think Sean likes it more than Orli and Dom do, honestly.”
Elijah sat up and grabbed a Coke out of the cooler. “Want some?” he asked Billy. Billy shook his head. Elijah sipped the Coke thoughtfully as everyone kind of vegged around. Sean picked up his book again, Orlando watched a group of girls playing volleyball down the beach, Dom laid on his back and dozed off, and Billy remained in his recumbent position as Elijah trailed lazy circles over his back.
“I’m hungry,” Orlando announced.
“There’s food in the cooler,” Sean replied.
“I don’t want that kind of food. I want like other kind of food.”
“That does sound good,” Elijah said.
“Great. Now we have to pack the surfboards back into the car just to unpack them later when everyone wants to surf again,” Sean complained. Billy opened his eyes and rolled them. Elijah muffled a laugh.
“Lighten up, buddy,” Dom said, rolling over and rubbing his eyes. “Let’s go grab some food.”
“Fine.” They picked up their stuff and Orlando packed everything back into the car as best he could. While Orlando was trying to put the finishing touches on the boards, Sean popped the tape into the tape deck, which instantly blared “California Girls.”
“Not this shit again,” Orlando growled in frustration. Sean and Elijah draped their arms around Orlando’s shoulders and started singing loudly.
“I wish they all could be California girls,” they rang out in his ears. He shoved them both off angrily as they laughed and kept singing.
Dom joined Orlando at the trunk to offer some kind of help while Sean got in the drivers seat and sang along to the radio, tapping the steering wheel in time with the music. Billy grabbed Elijah’s hand, leading him over to a group of trees.
“I like this one,” Billy said, sliding his arms around Elijah’s waist. “It’s definitely the best Beach Boys song ever.”
“Why’s that?”
“I wish they all could be California boys,” Billy sang, putting emphasis on the modified word. Elijah groaned, but couldn’t keep his smile from breaking through.
“That’s so bad,” Elijah said, patting Billy’s shoulders to the beat of the song. “And besides, I’m from Iowa.”
“Whatever. You grew up in California, therefore you are my California boy.”
“You’re so damn corny, Billy. You know that, right?”
“Yes,” Billy said, leaning in and kissing Elijah softly. “But you love me anyway.” Billy captured Elijah’s lips again while Elijah nodded in agreement.
“Are you two coming, or do we have to wait until you finish making out?” Dom called, smirking at them from the car. Elijah blushed bright pink, and Billy shrugged.
“Don’t know, Dom. Want to finish making out, Lij? Or do you think we should go ahead and get something to eat and save this for later?”
“Definitely later,” Elijah said, a mischievous glint in his eyes. Billy felt a sudden rush of blood down to his groin and moaned lowly. “I see you agree with that.” Elijah grinned as he rubbed Billy’s hardening cock with his knee.
“I hate you. I really do.” Billy reached between them, trying to hide his erection. Elijah kissed him again before leaving and walking to the car. Billy followed, grumbling.
-
“Ok, will you please shut this shit off while we eat?” Orlando asked. Dom was sitting beside him, bobbing his head to “Surfin’ USA” while munching on fries.
“You know, it’s not that bad. The beats are really catchy, and well, they really like to surf,” Dom said. Orlando threw his head back and covered his face with his hands.
“Not you, too! You were supposed to be in with me on this one, mate.”
“Oh well. If you stop complaining for two seconds, you might like it.”
“Doubt it.” Orlando said, grabbing a napkin off the tray hooked on the window. They were sitting at a drive in, listening to the Beach Boys while eating greasy burgers and fries.
“This was probably not the best food to eat when we’re out surfing,” Billy said, taking a large bite of his burger.
“I told you,” Sean said. The rest just kept on eating.
“I feel like I’m in a sixties beach film. You know, those ones that starred Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon?” Elijah said, slurping on a chocolate shake.
“You definitely get to be the beach bunny then, Lij,” Dom teased. Elijah punched him playfully before shooting him a bird. “We can just dye your hair blonde, get you a bikini, and call you Bunny.”
“Go to hell, Monaghan.”
“Following you, Wood.”
“I feel like I’m in an 80’s teen flick. Like Molly Ringwald should be sitting beside me instead of Billy,” Sean said.
“Why an 80’s teen flick? I don’t think there are any 80’s teen flicks set at the beach. They’re all set at the bloody mall,” Orlando said. “God, they’re awful.”
“Hey! I love 80’s teen flicks!” Sean protested.
“Why does that not surprise me?”
They finished their meal quickly and headed back to the beach, no one really in the mood to surf, but instead wanting to lie around some more. Orlando and Dom took off down the beach to play volleyball with a group of girls, Sean picked his book back up, and Billy and Elijah started walking the other way.
“Today’s been nice,” Billy said, splashing the water softly with his feet. Elijah scanned the sand beneath their feet for shells.
“Yeah. It’s nice that it’s not crowded today. There’s no one here except those girls Orli and Dom are macking on.” Billy stepped closer and grabbed Elijah’s hand.
“That’s not a bad thing though. It means I can touch you and kiss you whenever I like,” Billy said, kissing Elijah on the cheek.
“It’s later,” Elijah said, turning around and stepping in front of Billy. He walked backwards as he spread his free hand over Billy’s bare chest, playing with the soft hair.
“You’re going to trip, love.”
“No, I’m not,” Elijah said, making his steps more deliberate. “What do you want to do?” Elijah ran his hand along Billy’s chest, pausing to pinch one of his nipples lightly. Billy raised an eyebrow.
“We can’t very well shag on the beach in broad daylight. Orli and Dom would never let us live it down.” Elijah looked around, trying to find some place to go. Suddenly, he took off running away from the ocean, pulling Billy along behind him.
“Where are we going, Lij?” Elijah didn’t answer, just kept pulling him along. He stopped in front of a high wooden fence, enclosing the back deck of a private beach house. “No.”
“Why not? They’re all empty, you know that. We can just sneak onto a back deck, have a quick shag, then leave. Come on, Billy. It’d be fun,” Elijah begged, pulling Billy closer to the gate in the fence.
“You’re a fucking exhibitionist, Elijah,” Billy said, shaking his head. Elijah just nodded in agreement. “All right. But if we get caught, it’s your ass.”
“Actually, it’d be both our asses.”
“You’re so funny,” Billy said sarcastically, but Elijah shut him up quickly with a kiss. After fiddling with the handle on the gate, it opened. Elijah and Billy crept in slowly, looking around for any signs of people. Billy ran to the front of the house and peered out, searching for cars, as Elijah walked onto the back deck, pressing his face to the glass.
“No one’s inside,” Elijah called. Billy came around the corner of the house.
“No cars.”
“I told you this was a good idea.” Billy joined Elijah on the steps to the deck, pushing him down onto them gently, removing the little amount of clothes he wore. Billy kissed Elijah deeply, pulling at his hair with both his hands. Elijah removed Billy’s shorts, running his hand over Billy’s bare ass. Billy flipped Elijah over, stopping suddenly.
“Fuck! Lube!” Elijah reached over to his shorts and produced a small bottle. “You didn’t?”
“Yep. Got it out of the car after we got through eating.”
“Did I tell you recently that I love you?” Billy asked, nipping playfully at Elijah’s ear.
“I love you, too. Now please fuck me. I’ve been horny all fucking day.” Billy didn’t need telling twice. He coated his cock generously and slid slowly in Elijah, placing kisses all over his neck and back. Elijah braced himself on the top step, pushing back against Billy.
Elijah came quickly, dropping his forehead down to the step. Billy kept thrusting and finally came, wrapping his arms around Elijah and covering his body for a moment before rolling over. Elijah turned over onto his back, staring up at the sky.
“We just had sex on a private beach house deck in broad daylight,” he said, running his hand along Billy’s stomach.
“You’re getting brave, my young hobbit.” Billy rolled over, cupping Elijah’s face, and kissed him. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” Billy reached over, grabbing Elijah’s shorts and handing them to him. He stood up and started to pull his own on when he heard Elijah burst into laughter.
“What?” he asked, turning around. Elijah was pounding the deck, doubled over in laughter, shorts still around his ankles.
“Your ass,” Elijah started. “It’s red. Your ass got sunburned!” He started laughing again as Billy reached around and cupped his ass. It was rather warm.
“Oh shit. How in the hell?”
“You’re one white Scotsman, Billy Boyd. And your ass even more so,” Elijah said, standing up and pulling up his shorts.
“You know what this means now?” Billy asked, stepping closer to Elijah.
“What?” Elijah sobered up, looking at Billy warily.
“You get to rub aloe on my ass all night.”
-
“Damn it, Orli! Can’t you get the surfboards in the trunk this time?” Sean shouted from the driver’s seat. Elijah was already in the backseat, but Billy was still standing outside the car, prolonging the inevitable.
“Got it! Ah ha!” Orlando shouted as he and Dom put the last board in. “Ready to go.”
“I’ve got shotgun!” Dom yelled, sticking his tongue out at Billy. Billy rolled his eyes and gingerly crawled into the backseat with Elijah. Elijah grabbed Billy’s hand and stifled a laugh as Billy flinched when he sat down. Orlando hopped in beside him, looking at him closely.
“You got burned pretty severe, mate,” Orlando said. Billy didn’t say anything, but Elijah laughed.
“You have no idea.” Elijah kissed Billy quickly when he glared at him. Dom got into the front seat, putting in the Beach Boys tape as Sean drove off the beach.
“Please, no more of this shit!” Orlando yelled, crossing his arms and pouting. Billy leaned over, laying his head on Elijah’s shoulder. Elijah wrapped his arms around Billy, placing a kiss on Billy’s hair and grinning as Orlando hummed along to “Surf City.”
