Fic challenge!
(crossposted from
viggo_elijah)
Greetings, everyone!
ainigma and
azrhiaz here. We would like to take a moment to call your attention to the fact that
viggo_elijah turns one year old today. We have been so very pleased at the way this little community has grown, and the fact that it has provided a place to find quality Viggo/Elijah fic on LJ—and that, of course, is thanks to our talented members.
So, with that in mind, we wanted to mark the occasion with a little something extra special, something to encourage you to let loose your creativity…something that results in more Viggo/Elijah fic to read. And so we give you…
The Viggo/Elijah Take a Line Challenge
It's similar to a first lines challenge, in that we are providing you with some lines to use. The rules follow, but it's not intended to be a restrictive challenge. A good time to be had by all, and if you get half as much enjoyment out of writing the fics as we had coming up with the lines, you'll be doing fine. Of course, that assumes you do write. We realize that fandom is a terribly busy place, never mind real life; but it is our hope that this challenge will inspire you, even as Viggo and Elijah inspire us.
Start writing and spread the word, and we can all look forward to an embarrassment of beautiful riches.
The Rules
The Viggo/Elijah Take a Line challenge
1. This is not a first lines challenge. Feel free to use your selected line wherever you like.
2. This is not a contest. There will be no judging of posted fics. This is simply intended as a celebration of the community and as some impetus to inspire people to write for it.
3. There is no word limit. You don't have to write a major opus, although a drabble (exactly 100 words) would likely be the shortest practical fic. On the other hand, if you find yourself writing a multi-parter, please use one of the lines in each part, to maintain the spirit of the challenge (you can use a different one each time).
4. There is no deadline. This is open-ended, so anyone can participate at any time.
5. The featured pairing must be Viggo/Elijah. That may seem obvious, given the name of the community, but sometimes it's a good idea to state the obvious.
6. You must use the line exactly as written. An option containing two sentences is considered to be one line, and the sentences may not be broken up.
7. It would be very helpful, although not required, if you would mention the challenge in your fic header. Since fics can potentially be posted far down the line, a note in the header will give readers a frame of reference. Similarly, a link to this entry (especially if you are cross-posting to your own LJ) might bring in more readers and/or participants, who are always welcome.
Any questions? Just leave a comment here and ask us.
And now, here are your choices.
A. Elijah's voice, when he found it again, came out harsher than he intended. "If you're going to fuck me, don't you think you should kiss me first?"
B. "Elijah, you can't be serious. A garden gnome?"
C. "I had three of those last night."
D. Viggo thinks the heat will never let up, but every remedy he comes up with
is either impractical or involves too much effort.
E. Elijah knows he could track it down-- Google it or something, buy it by the truckload, all he could possibly want-- but somehow it's more gratifying to steal it from Viggo.
F. When the door shut, he stared at it, stupidly, blindly. That and the empty pack of cloves on the floor.
Looking forward to seeing everyone over there. *smiles*
