Final part (3/3)

Title: Triangle (Part 3 of 3)
Author: Me (obsgirl)
Rating: Soft R-ish (for the overall fic)
Pairing: Brad/Orli, Dom/Orli, Dom/Lij
Warning: Fluff at the end I'm afraid.
Summary: ‘One drink and Orlando’s anyone’s.’
Disclaimer: Nothing’s mine. Unfortunately.
A/N: Due to my recent Brad Pitt obsession (which I’m trying desperately to get rid of), I felt the urge to read some good Brad/Orli slash. But as I couldn’t find much, I decided to write some instead. Further inspiration came from the line I used in the summary, from the RotK cast commentary. Also, it’s kind of all over the place, like a train of thought type thing.

Part 3.

Orlando awoke at 6 in the morning, still wrapped in Brad’s strong arms, still lying on the carpet. 3 blocks away, Dom woke at the same time, curled up on Elijah’s sofa with Elijah asleep on his shoulder. Both Dom and Orlando were very hungover.

Careful not to wake Elijah, Dom slipped out of the house and started to walk. He wasn’t walking home – he knew what he’d see there, and he didn’t want to see it. Instead, he just walked, fast. There were very few people around, as it was a Sunday, so Dom was free to just think. He thought about how often Orlando had slept with someone else, and wondered why he kept forgiving him. And he made a decision – not to give in this time. It was over, and Dom wouldn’t take any more.

Sliding Brad’s arm off his stomach, Orlando silently got up, grabbed his clothes and slipped from the apartment. He didn’t want to be around when Brad woke up, because he could vaguely remember something the older man had said to him – about regretting it in the morning. ‘Yeah, right. It’s not happened before, it’s not going to now,’ Orlando had replied.

But it had.

Walking out into the bright, breezy morning, Orlando groaned. Something had changed in his head when he had slept with Brad. He no longer wanted anyone else, he only wanted Dom. And he wanted to tell him that as soon as he possibly could.

However, as he had no idea where Dom was, he was basically screwed, at least for the time being.

‘Lij, let me in,’ Orlando shouted 10 minutes later, stood in Elijah Wood’s doorway. It was the first place he could think of that Dom might have gone.

‘What?’ Elijah said grumpily as he opened the door. ‘It’s fucking 6 in the morning, I’ve been up all night. What do you want?’

‘Love you too, Lij. Do you know where Dom is?’

‘Nah, he left before I woke up.’

Orlando blinked. ‘He spent the night here?’

‘Yeah,’ replied Elijah with a shrug. Then he realised what Orlando was thinking. ‘Not like that!’ he said hastily. ‘He was…upset, and we had a few drinks, and talked a bit, then fell asleep. Nothing else, I swear.’

Orlando sighed. ‘I know, I know. Dom wouldn’t do that,’ he said softly, almost to himself. ‘Thanks anyway Lij.’

‘I hope you find him,’ Elijah said quietly, with a small, sympathetic smile. Orlando returned the smile weakly and walked away.

Scuffing his shoes along the pavement and looking at his feet, Orlando wondered dejectedly whether Dom had skipped town and left him for good. He was paying so little attention to where he was going that he walked straight into someone walking very fast in the opposite direction.

Both of them staggered backwards, and Orlando fell to the ground, despite the fact the person he walked into was smaller than he was.

‘Sorry,’ he muttered without looking up. ‘Sorry, I wasn’t looking…’ He started to get to his feet, and the other person extended a hand to help him.

Orlando froze. He knew that hand. His eyes travelled up the arm and body, finally coming to rest on the person’s face, his heart pounding as he took in the oh-so-familiar features.

‘Dom…’ he breathed. Dom nodded, but didn’t say a word. Orlando took the proffered hand and stood up, and the two men stood facing each other, not speaking. Orlando was shaking.

‘Dom, I-’ he began, but Dom cut him off.

‘Me first. Please,’ he croaked. Orlando could tell from experience that this croakiness was due to either a hangover, lack of sleep, or prolonged crying. Or, by the sound of it, in this case, all three.

Dom took a deep breath. ‘It’s over, Orli,’ he said, almost choking on the words. ‘You’ve hurt me too many times, and I can’t take it any more. No matter how much I…not matter how much I love you.’

Orlando said nothing. His eyes closed and a tear beaded on his lashes, then fell, in slow motion. Dom could see the world reflected in that tear. Orlando’s world, shattered, fragmented, cold.

‘I understand,’ Orlando whispered. ‘But can I say one thing before you go?’ He looked back up at Dom, his eyes full of fear and pain. Dom nodded. ‘I love you,’ Orlando said. ‘So much. And I know I have a damn funny way of showing it, but … I’ve realised I only want you. I was afraid of letting you get too close, I’d been hurt in the past and didn’t think I could stand it again. But when I woke up this morning I realised that by sleeping with other people, I was hurting you more than anything, and by doing that, I was hurting myself. I can’t live without you, Dom.’

Dom gazed at Orlando, gazed into those big, brown, sincere eyes. Don’t give in, he told himself. Whatever you do, don’t give in this time.

‘Bye Dom,’ Orlando said softly, turning and starting to walk away. Then he stopped and turned back. ‘I really am sorry, by the way. For everything.’

He hadn’t gone 3 paces when Dom grabbed his arm, swung him round and kissed him. Their tears mingled on their faces, and they clung to each other tightly.

‘I love you too,’ Dom sobbed.

The couple of passers-by stopped and whispered to each other, but didn’t interrupt the desperate, loving embrace. Exchanging knowing smiles, they walked away, leaving Orlando and Dom alone again, hugging and crying, in the middle of the street, each murmuring apologies and vows of love in the other’s ear.

you wouldn't by any chance have the links to the previous parts?

jeez! Finally got around reading this. I've just been way too busy lately. But I'm glad I did bookmark this story. It's really good and I always love good angst :P I love the way Elijah told Dom off in part 1. What Dom was doing to Elijah wasn't fair on him and he should have known better. Orlando was a total slut and soooo evol to poor Dom, Dom should never had taken him back...but I'm glad he did and I hope Orlando will keep up his promise!!

Great fic :)
