“Hey! Put me down! Dammit! I’m going to kill you guys when this is over!” Dom yelled as Orlando and Billy dragged him down to the ocean, Elijah following. Dom was blindfolded and Orlando and Billy each had one of his arms, leaving his legs free to kick and drag along in the sand. Elijah chuckled softly as he watched them drag the grown man down to the shore.
Orlando and Billy threw Dom to the ground roughly, a little too roughly in Elijah’s opinion, and stood towering above him. Elijah joined the other two as Dom pulled off his blindfold. He looked up to the wall of bodies looking down at him seriously.
“What the fuck are you on?” Dom demanded as he started to get up, but was quickly pushed back down by Orlando.
“Careful, Orli. Don’t hurt him,” Elijah said, getting concerned with the way they were rough-handling Dom.
“I’m not going to hurt him. Don’t you worry about your precious Dom,” Orli responded, throwing Elijah a knowing glance. He blushed uncomfortably and looked away.
“What the fuck is going on?” Dom screamed again, quickly losing his temper. No one said anything as Billy slowly reached into his pocket and pulled out a long, shiny knife.
“Oh God, you’re going to kill me,” Dom whimpered, panic in his eyes.
“We’re not going to kill you,” Elijah said softly and Orlando shot him a glance. “I’m not saying anything, I’m just reassuring him we’re not going to kill him!”
“Just be quiet,” Orlando snapped. Elijah looked reassuringly at Dom, who continued to stare in fear at the group surrounding him.
“Dominic Monaghan, lift up the sleeve of your left arm,” Billy said, handing the knife to Orlando. Dom’s eyes widened in fear and he crawled backwards away from Orlando and the approaching knife.
“Stop, Orlando. Let’s show him,” Elijah said, rolling up his sleeve. Orlando sighed in irritation and turned around to face Elijah.
“Why are you walking him through this? No one walked you through it. Why do you care?” Orlando set an accusing gaze on him; Elijah tried to be strong under those piercing brown eyes but failed. He shuddered and looked away, showing Dom a scar on his left arm that was about two inches long.
“We’ve all got them, except Sean. We decided not to bring him in on it. You’ll be the fourth and final one. It doesn’t hurt, really.” Elijah pulled his sleeve back down and Orlando approached Dom. Orlando held him down and jerked his sleeve up. Dom was kicking and struggling in an attempt to resist, but Orlando had the upper hand. Elijah and Billy watched intently as Orlando quickly sliced the sharp edge of the blade along Dom’s smooth, pale skin.
Elijah flinched as Dom howled in pain. Orlando looked down at his work in triumph. Dom now had scars to match the other three. He was sobbing, and Orlando rolled his eyes and got up off him. Elijah ran over and looked at the cut on his arm.
“It’s nothing, Dom. It’ll heal in a week or so,” Elijah said, staring at the blood oozing out of the wound.
“Now you’re in,” Orlando said, wiping the blood off the blade with his shirt.
“In what? What the fuck is wrong you people?” Dom asked from the ground, looking at his arm in disbelief, still shocked beyond reason.
“The club. The society. Fuck if I know what it’s called,” Orlando said.
“It’s okay, Dom. Orlando’s really not off his rocker entirely,” Billy said, amused. “We’re like blood brothers now or something. We’re connected. We’ve been cut by the same knife, in the same place, in the same way.”
“Freaks. The whole lot of you.”
“Oh for Christ’s sake, calm the fuck down. You’re acting like a child. It was a little cut,” Orlando said, annoyed.
“You kidnapped me, brought me out here, held me down, and cut me. Why should I calm the fuck down?” Dom roared.
“We’re connected, Dom. Don’t you see the beauty of it? Whatever ever happens, whatever we do after this, we’re connected. And anything that happens while we’re together stays between us. Absolutely no exceptions. We fuck someone, it stays. We steal something, it stays. We kill someone, it stays,” Orlando finished intensely.
“You are a twisted man, Orlando Bloom,” Dom said. He sat up and started gingerly touching the dried blood around the cut.
“Here, let me,” Elijah offered.
“Be careful. That one likes blood,” Orlando said, pointing to Elijah. Elijah narrowed his eyes venomously at Orlando.
“And you like pain and torture. Why do you think you thought up such a demented way of going about this?”
“Tons of people become blood brothers,” he argued.
“But most people don’t kidnap unwilling victims and forcibly inflict wounds upon their skin,” Elijah countered.
“Not like you weren’t enjoying this. You didn’t do anything to stop me. You watched as Billy and I grabbed him, you blindfolded him, and you watched as I cut him.”
“Billy,” Dom interjected, “why aren’t you saying anything?”
“I just let them go at it. I think it’s fucked up, but hell, why not? I just go with the flow.”
“Welcome to the club, Dom my boy. Come on, Billy. Let’s get a head start on getting pissed.” Orlando clapped Billy on the back and started back towards the beach house.
Dom turned his eyes on Elijah. “Why?”
“Like Billy said, why not?” He shrugged, pulling a cigarette out of his pocket and lighting it.
“This was way too fucked up.”
“Orli is a little off, I think. He has an obsession with cutting.”
“Does he cut himself? There are no scars.”
“Not often, and only in places you can’t see. For the most part, he’s just obsessed with the idea. He’s got issues.”
“I’ll say.” Dom looked back at the wound and sighed.
“Let me help you with that,” Elijah said again. He scooted closer to Dom, cigarette poised between his lips, and used the towel he had brought to slowly wipe away the drying blood. He dabbed around the edges, closely watching his movements. Dom studied Elijah with interest.
“He’s right. You get off on blood,” Dom said, watching the fascinated way Elijah looked at red liquid.
“I do not,” Elijah protested, tearing his eyes away from Dom’s arm and wiping the rest of the blood away quickly.
“Let’s go back to the beach house. This has all been extremely too fucked up,” Dom said standing up and walking towards the beach house, Elijah following close behind.
Elijah could see Billy and Orlando sitting in the kitchen drinking. He wanted to go drink with the boys; he loved drinking with his boys. And now Dom was part of the little ‘society,’ as Orlando liked to call it. It was definitely going to be a fun night.
* * * *
Elijah looked around the room as best he could. Everything was fuzzy, he wasn’t quite sure what he was doing two minutes ago, and Billy and Orlando sure were laughing a lot over a hand of cards.
“Where’s Dom?” Elijah asked. He was nowhere in sight, and Elijah knew that wasn’t cool. Dom was supposed to be there with them, drinking and getting extremely drunk, and close enough where Elijah could stare at him and blame it on the alcohol.
“He’s outside for the fifth time,” Billy slurred. Orlando erupted into a fit of giggles and Billy joined him.
“Lij,” Orlando said breathlessly between giggles, “You’ve asked us that for the past ten minutes. Now go out of the fucking house and find Dominic before I throw you out the door!”
“I’ve asked that already?” Elijah asked. He was very confused. He had just realized Dom wasn’t there, how could he have been asking for ten minutes? Oh well, he didn’t care. Dom was outside. Yes, outside. Out –
“Hey, you have the Ace of Spades!” Elijah exclaimed, sitting down beside Billy and immediately forgetting about Dom.
“Lij. You. Dom. Outside. Go,” Orlando commanded.
“Oh, Dom. Yes. That’s right. Outside.” Elijah got up unsteadily and stumbled towards the door. He opened it and peered out into the dark night. Dom was sitting on the end of the porch in the swing, knees pulled to his chest, beer in his hand, staring out at the ocean.
“Whacha doin’ out here?” Elijah asked, swaying slightly before plopping down on the swing beside Dom.
“Looking.”
“At what?”
“The water.”
“It’s pretty. And wet.”
“Yep. Very wet.” Dom took a long sip off his beer.
“And cold. And salty,” Elijah added. ”And wet.”
“Yep.”
They sat in silence for a few moments, Elijah pushing the swing gently with his feet.
“Arm okay?” he asked. Dom nodded. “’s good.” Elijah looked at Dom and the beer. “Can I have a sip?”
Dom handed the bottle to Elijah without looking over. Elijah took a swig of it and handed it back. Dom finished it and stood up. He pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket and ran towards the beach.
“Dom!” Elijah shouted. He got up and ran as fast as he could, stumbling quite a few times along the way, after Dom. He reached the edge of the water panting. Dom threw the bottle into the ocean and watched as the waves carried it out to sea.
“What did it say?” Elijah asked. Dom shook his head.
“Nothing.” He turned and walked back to the house. Elijah stood by the shore, very confused. He suddenly ran after Dom and tackled him to the ground. He was lying on top of Dom, who was looking up at him, very disoriented.
“You’re all trying to kill me today. First the knife, now this.”
“I’m not trying to kill you.” Elijah looked down into Dom’s face and studied it. Dom gazed up at him and waited patiently.
“Your chin is shaped funny,” Elijah said.
“Your eyes are shaped funny,” Dom replied.
“But I love your chin.”
“And I love your eyes.”
Elijah leaned down and timidly brushed his lips against Dom’s. Dom closed his eyes and breathed in the moment. Elijah, more bravely this time, kissed him again and was rewarded by Dom’s hands wrapping around his waist. Elijah fully lost himself in the kiss, trying desperately to convince himself that the moment was real.
“Real,” he murmured on Dom’s exploring lips.
“I’m real,” Dom responded. He slid his tongue experimentally over Elijah’s satin lips and into his warm mouth. Elijah’s tongue enthusiastically met Dom’s and they danced inside the two mouths without any regard or thought to anything.
Elijah became intoxicated by Dom’s nearness mixed with the sour smell of beer that surrounded the two of them. His hands freely roamed along Dom’s body, while Dom’s hands were forever lost in Elijah’s hair.
“Love you,” Elijah mumbled. Dom pulled away suddenly and looked up at Elijah. His features bunched up as he studied his friend’s face.
“You’ve had too much to drink. You don’t know what you’re saying,” Dom said, pushing Elijah off of him. “I think this has gone far enough.” Dom started to get up, but Elijah grabbed his arm and stopped him.
“Don’t go. I love you, even without the alcohol. Always have.” Dom looked down at Elijah, drunk and sitting in the sand, hair everywhere, lips kiss swollen, and very obviously aroused. He looked so vulnerable, so exposed. Dom knew he wasn’t lying.
“I love you too,” Dom said, falling down into Elijah’s lap and covering his face with kisses.
* * * *
Elijah woke up and instantly thanked Billy’s secret to no hangovers – drink two or three glasses of water before bed. It usually made Elijah have to piss at least five times during the night, but that was better than waking up with a bad hangover.
He crawled out of bed, noticing that Orlando was still passed out in the bed across the room, and stumbled into the living room. Someone was up; there was fresh coffee in the pot. He poured himself a cup, grabbed a cigarette and lighter, and walked out onto the porch.
Billy was sitting in the swing, the exact same spot Dom had been sitting the night before. He glanced over at Elijah and smiled.
“Morning.”
“Why do I always end up waking up early the night after heavy drinking? Shouldn’t I sleep all day or something?” Elijah complained, sitting beside Billy. He placed the cup between his legs as he lit up the cigarette.
“Ah, mate, the mysteries of life indeed,” Billy said, nursing his coffee.
“Your hangover prevention method is the best thing on the planet. No hangover.”
“I’ve had years of bad hangovers to experiment with,” Billy said, grinning broadly.
“Where’s Dom?” Elijah asked.
“Not sure. He wasn’t in bed when I woke up and I haven’t seen him around. Maybe he’s out running or something.”
“Dom doesn’t run. I wonder where he could be,” Elijah said, more to himself than to Billy. He looked towards the beach and didn’t see anything. He really wanted to see Dom, just to reinforce everything that had happened the night before.
“What happened between you two last night?” Billy asked.
“Nothing,” Elijah said a little too quickly.
“Don’t lie. I know something happened. You two came in holding hands.”
“Hmm. That definitely makes it hard to lie. Give me a second to make up an excuse. I’m sure I can think of a good one. I killed off a few brain cells last night. The ones left are working overtime.”
Billy chuckled and looked over at his friend. “Mate, don’t strain them too hard. Something obviously happened though. But if you don’t want to –“
“I kissed him,” Elijah blurted out urgently. He surprised not only Billy but himself. “And told him I loved him.”
“Wow.”
“That’s all you can say?”
“Congratulations?” Billy said, raising an eyebrow. Elijah flipped him off.
“I can’t believe I did that. I guess it was something about him being part of this ridiculous society of Orli’s, and then the alcohol didn’t allow me to make my best decisions. I don’t know,” Elijah said, shaking his head.
“Did you mean it?”
“Mean what?”
“That you loved him. Did you mean it or just say it?”
Elijah sat silent for a few moments, Billy watching him closely. He sighed and turned toward Billy. “I meant it. I think. Hell, I don’t know. Fuck!”
“You kind of need to know. I’m sure it’s going to come up soon.” Billy patted Elijah on the shoulder before getting up and walking into the house.
Elijah remained in the swing, slowly drinking his coffee and smoking his cigarette. He thought of the way Dom’s body felt underneath his, the feel of his lips against his own. Was this what he wanted? Did he really love Dom and want to be with him? Or was it a passing crush?
Elijah got up and walked to the door. He looked back down to the beach again, scanning the horizon for any sign of Dom.
“Where the fuck is that boy?” Elijah said, opening the door and slamming it behind him.
* * * *
Elijah paced the length of the living room, looking out of the windows every five seconds. It was dark and Dom hadn’t been back all day.
“Fuck, Lij. Sit down. You’re driving me crazy!” Orlando said from the couch. Elijah stopped abruptly and slammed the wall with his fist.
“Where in the hell is he? He’s been gone all day. Not a word. Nothing.” Elijah punched the wall again and set back to pacing.
“Who cares? He’s a grown man. He can make his own decisions. He’s probably met some beach bunny and is now fucking her senseless.” Orlando watched closely for Elijah’s reaction. Elijah turned on him, eyes blazing in fury.
“Why do you always do this to me?” he yelled. Orlando smirked.
“Because you’re so easy to fuck with.” Orlando stood up and walked over to stand in front of Elijah. He looked down at the shorter man, a strange expression on his face. He cupped Elijah’s face and stroked his cheek gently with his thumb.
“I like you best when you’re angry. You’re so sexy,” Orlando said, kissing Elijah’s cheek softly. Elijah closed his eyes for a moment before pushing Orlando away.
“Are you crazy? I’m in love with Dom! I can’t do this with you.” Elijah walked to the other side of the room, trying to calm his racing pulse.
“You can’t, can you? But I’ll give you what you want. I know what you want, little one,” Orlando said, sliding up behind Elijah and wrapping his arms around his waist. Elijah leaned back against Orlando’s chest, closing his eyes at the closeness of the other man. Orlando kissed along the line of his neck, Elijah melting back into his embrace. Orlando started gnawing the crook of Elijah’s neck softly with his teeth and suddenly bit down roughly. Elijah’s eyes flew open as he howled. He struggled to get away, but Orlando had him in a vice-like grip. Orlando ran his fingers along the bite and held the blood covered fingers in front of Elijah.
“I know you like it,” he whispered in his ear, and smeared the blood around Elijah’s lips before placing his fingers in his own mouth and sucking them clean. Elijah’s tongue involuntarily darted out and tasted the metallic liquid. He closed his eyes and cursed himself. Orlando lowered his head and licked at the bite on Elijah’s neck. Elijah inwardly cringed at how much he was enjoying it.
“Stop,” Elijah begged, knowing this wasn’t right. His entire body wanted this kind of attention from Orlando, but his brain and heart kept repeating Dom’s name over and over. “Please, stop.”
Orlando let him go and pushed him away. “You love him, don’t you? You honest-to-God love him.” Orlando looked at Elijah, perplexed.
“Why is that such a shock?”
“I’ve never loved anyone, like that anyway. I’m all sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll.”
“I love him so much it’s suffocating. I can’t concentrate without him here. I’ve only kissed him and it’s like this. It hurts and I hate him for it.” Elijah sat down on the floor and Orlando sat down in front of him.
“Can I?” he asked, pointing to the pack of cigarettes sticking out of Elijah’s pocket. Elijah pulled them out, grabbed one for himself and handed them to Orlando. Orlando took one out, stuck it between his lips, and took the lighter away from Elijah.
“You don’t smoke.”
“I know. But it feels like one of those times when I should. One of those weird bonding times that just requires a cigarette.”
Elijah nodded and they sat in silence for a long while, taking drags off the cigarettes and blowing the smoke into the air. The bluish clouds of smoke surrounded them and made a surreal ambience for the two.
“I hate it. Hate the fact that he’s doing this to me. It just fucking hurts so badly that he’s not here,” Elijah said, running his free hand through his hair.
“It gets to the point where it consumes you.”
“What?” Elijah asked.
“The pain.”
“I thought you had never been in love.”
Orlando laughed sardonically. “Do you really think that love is the only thing that can cause pain?”
“Then what?”
“Loneliness, rejection, being told you’ll never walk again. I don’t want to love anyone because that will just be one more thing that causes me pain.”
“How do you get through it?” Elijah asked, lighting another cigarette.
“You just do. Ever wonder why I’m obsessed with pain and torture, as you all put it? Physical pain gives me a sense of control. If I slide that sharp edge against my skin, I am the one controlling the pain. It makes me feel like I have some say over my destiny. Not to mention it reminds me that I can still feel, despite the world’s efforts of making me numb.”
“You really are a good actor,” Elijah said. “No one would ever figure it out.”
“It’s just part of being numb. Making the world believe everything is okay.” Orlando got up and headed towards the kitchen. “Want anything man?”
“Beer.” Orlando nodded and disappeared into the kitchen. Elijah looked out the window, searching desperately for Dom. He glanced at the kitchen door and thought about all Orlando had told him. Orlando controlled the pain by taking it into his own hands. Elijah looked down at his own, pale smooth skin. Did it really work? The pain inside his chest had settled and formed a small ball deep down that wasn’t going away.
“Control. I’ve got to get control.” Elijah stood up and walked over to the coffee table. He desperately pulled the drawer open and knocked papers and pens out of the way searching for the knife from the night before.
“Where the fuck is it?” he said urgently, throwing the drawer onto the floor. The knife fell out onto the floor among a mass of papers. Elijah picked it up quickly and didn’t even think before throwing off his jeans and falling to the floor. He quickly slid the knife across his thigh without blinking. He cursed when he saw he barely broke the skin. Elijah took a deep breath and pulled the knife across the broken flesh more deliberately the second time. He closed his eyes at the burning pain he felt across his thigh. He opened his eyes and watched in fascination as the red blood oozed quickly out of the slit, running down his leg through the dark hair and pooling on the white carpet beside him.
Elijah looked up slowly as the front door opened. Dom was standing in the doorway, face ragged and tired, his shoulders drooping. But his exhaustion couldn’t hide the horror on his face.
“What are you doing? Elijah, oh my God.” Dom ran over to his side and grabbed the knife from his hand. He looked at the bloody blade and the wound still flowing on Elijah’s leg. “What have you done?”
“Controlled the pain.” Elijah had a glassy look in his eyes and Dom was terrified. Orlando walked out of the kitchen at that moment and looked at the pair on the floor in confusion.
“What are you doing on the floor?” he asked, looking between Dom and Elijah’s pants on the floor beside him, completely missing the real situation.
“He’s cutting himself! What did you convince him to do?” Dom yelled. Orlando ran over to Elijah’s side.
“Shit, Elijah. I didn’t mean for you to try it.” Orlando stared at the cut in shock. Dom jumped up and ran to the kitchen, bringing back a stack of towels.
“What did you say to him?” Dom said, working swiftly to cover the cut and stop the bleeding.
“I just explained to him why I cut myself sometimes. I didn’t mean for him to try it.”
“Great job, Orlando,” Dom said, soaking up the blood on the floor with another towel.
“Where the fuck have you been? He’s been waiting by the window all bloody day. You’re the damn reason he decided to go all dramatic on us.”
“Don’t blame this on me.”
“Shut up!” Elijah yelled, startling the both of them. “Just shut the fuck up and leave me alone!” Elijah pushed them both away, stood up, and ran into the bedroom, slamming and locking the door behind him. Dom immediately followed.
“Fuck. Lij, open up!” Dom bellowed, banging on the door and rattling the lock. He banged on the door for a few moments before giving up and resting his head on the wood. Deciding Elijah wouldn’t let him in the room until he was ready, he turned around and walked into the living room.
“What the fuck are you people on?” Dom asked.
“Nothing, Dom. Go see about Lij,” Orlando said, dismissing him without a thought. He settled down on the couch and turned on the television. Dom stormed over in front of him and hit the power button. “Hey! I was watching that!”
“You’re not going to watch anything until you explain to me what the hell just happened here. I leave the house thinking my mates are all normal and come back to see blood and knives and shit,” Dom said desperately, weariness evident all over his body.
“Nothing happened. This shit happens all the time. It’s normal.”
“How can you call Elijah sitting on the floor cutting himself normal?”
“He’s not stupid enough to do any damage. Besides, it was the first time he’d ever done it. So it’s not like he’s slicing himself up five times a day.”
“Orlando, please tell me what in the hell is going on!” Dom begged. Orlando sat silent for a moment, surveying Dom closely.
“Sit down then. You’re part of this society thing now. I know it sounds like a dumb idea, but it’s not really. And now you’re part of it and everything that comes along with it. No one else knows about the things we do. And no one will, so don’t even think about saying anything to anyone.” Orlando looked at Dom pointedly, making sure everything was soaking in.
“I wasn’t planning on it. What do you think I’m going to do? Call up Deborah and say, “Hi, Deb? How are you? Your son’s nutters.” No way. Besides I didn’t even ask to be in this stupid society.”
“Elijah did.”
“Asked to be in it?”
“No, asked to initiate you in it.”
“But why?”
“Because he loves you, you cunt.” Dom shifted uneasily on the couch.
“What does any of this have to do with anything? Why did he do it?”
“I don’t know for sure,” Orlando said, sighing. “It’s almost painfully obvious though. Look at Elijah. Child star that everyone thinks is so perfect and so innocent. He’s played the part very well, fooling everyone, including his family. Look at him. He’s got the biggest part in one of the biggest movies to come around in a long time. And he’s a fucking child. He picks up, moves across the world away from everyone he’s ever loved and knew.”
“Why is that any different than what you or I did?”
“Dom, focus with me, okay? Lij has to have artificial stability. Like his mum. That’s gone; he can’t deal with the pain because he never learned how to deal with it and snaps. I figure, since stability’s gone, he turns to something constant, something that is always there.”
Dom sat open mouthed, staring at Orlando. He didn’t speak for a few moments as he absorbed everything. “Blood?”
“Catching on quick. The blood is his and always there. And by having other people’s he has a part of them. It was his stability.”
“What is it now?”
“Are you daft? You.
“Me?”
“Yes, you. Now go see about him. He needs you.” Orlando flipped the television back on, signaling the end of the conversation. Dom looked at Orlando for a few moments before getting up and walking back to Elijah’s door. He wasn’t sure what he felt about any of this, so he pushed it temporarily from his mind and concentrated on getting Elijah to open the door.
He stopped in front of the door, listening. Nothing. It was completely silent. He knocked on the door softly.
“Please, Lij, let me in. Please?”
Dom listened carefully and heard Elijah slowly get off the bed and pad over to the door. The lock clicked and Dom threw open the door. Elijah was already lying in bed again, facing away from the door.
“Lij?” Dom said, closing the door quietly behind him. Elijah didn’t move or say a word from his position on the bed. Dom walked over and lay behind him, propping himself up on his elbow and stroking Elijah’s arm gently.
“What’s going on?” Dom said softly. Elijah rolled onto his back and looked up into Dom’s face above him.
“Where were you?”
“Out. I needed to think, Lij. Last night was a lot for one day. I got mutilated by three of my best friends, and then my closest friend in the entire world kisses me and tells me he loves me. It was a lot to deal with.”
“I waited for you all day. I wanted to see you. I needed to see you. I thought you changed your mind or something.”
“No,” Dom said, stroking Elijah’s forehead gently. “I would never change my mind. I do love you.”
“I felt so empty. It hurt so much thinking you had left. And then Orlando said you were probably out screwing beach bunnies – “
“You seriously need to quit listening to Orlando. He’s going to end up killing you.”
“I don’t think I could live without you. There’s just no going back after last night.” Dom leaned down and kissed Elijah’s forehead.
“There’s no reason to go back. Just promise me you won’t hurt yourself anymore. I can’t explain the fear I felt when I walked through the door to see you bleeding on the floor. Don’t do that to me.” Elijah grabbed Dom’s hand and laced his fingers through it.
“I won’t. You’re here now.”
“Yes, I’m here now.” Dom kissed Elijah slowly and sweetly on the lips, taking his time in exploring Elijah’s mouth for the first time sober. Cigarettes mixed with a slight hint of something sweet met Dom’s tongue as he pushed further into Elijah’s mouth.
Dom pulled away reluctantly and stood up. “Go to sleep, Lij. You’ve had a rough day.”
“Don’t leave me. Stay with me.” Elijah’s blue eyes were pleading and Dom couldn’t say no. He kicked off his shoes, pulled off his pants and shirt, and crawled in bed beside Elijah. Elijah wrapped his arms around Dom’s torso and laid his head on Dom’s bare chest. Dom softly ran his fingers through Elijah’s hair until he could hear the sounds of his heavy, even breathing.
Dom lay awake for a long while. He watched Elijah sleep peacefully beside him and tried to make sense of the last two days. Nothing was normal in his life, he knew that for sure. All his friends were screwed up, and he was worried. Orlando obviously needed to work out some demons in his past, Elijah was so confused and scared that he was influenced by anything, not to mention unstable and dependent, and Billy was apathetic about everything. And what scared him the most was that he had been the reason Elijah had been driven to such disturbing means. He couldn’t be there all the time with Elijah. Would Elijah be okay once he realized that Dom loved him and would never leave him?
Dom’s thoughts were interrupted by Orlando, who opened the door to come to bed. He saw Dom and Elijah in bed together and caught Dom’s eye. He nodded and pointed to the room across the hall that Billy and Dom were sharing. Dom nodded in understanding and Orlando shut the door.
Exhaustion finally took its toll on Dom and he shifted Elijah, who didn’t even stir, a little in his arms, and finally drifted into sleep.
* * * *
“Come on. Let’s go to that bar down near the pier,” Orlando said, looking at himself in the mirror. Billy got off the couch and went into the bathroom to brush his teeth, while Elijah and Dom looked at each other. They hadn’t had the chance to be alone the past couple days and it had been killing them. A little fooling around here and there, but both wanted more. This was their opportunity.
“I’m tired. I think I’ll hang around here and veg on the couch,” Elijah said, settling down comfortably on the couch and flipping on the television.
“Me, too. I don’t really feel like getting pissed,” Dom said, lying opposite of Elijah on the couch. He propped his feet in Elijah’s lap and smiled at how comfortable they had gotten in just a few short days.
“Sure. We’ll make sure not to come back till really, really late, if at all tonight. I wouldn’t want to walk in on something personal,” Orlando said, throwing them both a sly grin.
“I absolutely have no idea what you are talking about,” Elijah said matter-of-factly.
“Yes. We’ll be in bed by 8:30.”
“I’m sure you will,” Orlando said as Billy came out of the bathroom. “Let’s go, Billy, and leave the two love birds alone.”
“Have fun,” Billy said as they walked out of the house.
“Alone. Finally,” Dom said. The air become extremely uncomfortable between the two and they looked at each other unsurely.
“Why is this so weird?” Elijah asked. Dom shrugged.
“First time alone. No boundaries. No excuses. Crazy stuff, mate.” Elijah pushed Dom’s feet out of his lap and crawled towards him.
“We’ll just have to get over this weirdness. Shall we? Is this weird?” Elijah kissed Dom’s jawline.
“A little,” Dom said, closing his eyes and smiling slightly.
“This?” Elijah nibbled gently on his earlobe. “Or this?” Elijah licked all the way around his neck and lifted Dom’s shirt off over his head.
“Very weird,” Dom said, his breath catching as Elijah nibbled on his nipples and ran his fingers, light as feathers, down his chest.
“We’ll just have to stop then,” Elijah said coyly, rising up off Dom. Dom immediately grabbed his hair and jerked him back down on top of him.
“Fuck if we will,” Dom said, crushing his lips against Elijah’s. They both brushed their mouths together roughly, raking teeth and tongue and flesh against each other. Dom urgently shed Elijah of his clothes, while Elijah tried to remove Dom’s pants. Elijah pulled Dom off the couch and fell to his knees, snatching Dom’s jeans and boxers off with him. Dom was standing there, in his full naked glory, fully aroused and extremely nervous. Elijah looked at him curiously, and Dom thought it looked like he was memorizing every part of his naked body. Dom was starting to slowly lose control with Elijah so inviting on his knees in front of him.
Dom grabbed Elijah’s head and jerked it so that Elijah was looking up into Dom’s face. “Open your mouth. Now.” Elijah willingly complied and Dom maneuvered Elijah’s open mouth towards his anxious cock. Elijah licked slowly at first, but grew bolder with every lap and soon took the entire length into his mouth. Dom’s knees were growing weak and he was afraid he was going to collapse any second.
“Is this okay?” Elijah stopped to ask in mock innocence. Dom couldn’t speak so he sort of grumbled something out that sounded like a “yes”.
Dom suddenly dropped in front of Elijah and caught his open and surprised mouth with his own. He pushed him back onto the carpet, then immediately grabbed Elijah’s neglected cock in his hand and started pumping slowly. Elijah moaned into his mouth, and Dom felt his own cock twitch in response. Elijah lightly stroked Dom’s tongue and lips with his own and was more arousing than any kiss he had ever experienced.
“Turn over,” Dom whispered into Elijah’s mouth and he readily complied. Dom looked down at the beautiful site in front of him – Elijah, ass raised in the air and legs spread apart, his head resting on his arms. Elijah turned and looked at Dom staring at him.
“Are you just going to stare?” Elijah said, grinning crookedly at Dom. Dom covered his body with his own and kissed that puffy mouth hungrily. With his free hand, he started teasing Elijah’s entrance, causing the smaller boy to tense underneath him. He slowly rubbed circles around the opening, eliciting loud moans from Elijah.
Dom suddenly got up and walked out of the room, leaving Elijah extremely agitated on the floor. Elijah rolled over onto his back and waited for Dom to return. Dom stopped as soon as he entered the room and smiled.
“You’re so beautiful. I wish I had a camera.”
“Then I’d have porn pictures of myself lying around. We wouldn’t want Orlando or Billy to get hold of them,” Elijah pointed out. Dom walked over and lay down on top of Elijah, setting the bottle of lube on the floor beside them.
“Remember, anything that happens within the society stays within the society,” Dom pointed out, biting gently at Elijah’s pale neck.
“That’s true. We’ll get the camera next time,” Elijah said, bucking up against Dom. Dom sat up and pulled Elijah into his lap. He grabbed the lube from beside him and tried desperately to open it, but was having trouble since Elijah had wrapped his fist around Dom’s cock and was slowly, too slowly, sliding up and down.
Dom finally got the top open and squirted a generous amount onto his fingertips, but halted before going any further.
“Have you ever done this?” he whispered into Elijah’s ear.
“Once. You?”
“A couple of times. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t your first time.”
“Would that be a bad thing?” Elijah asked.
“No,” Dom whispered. He moved his fingers to Elijah’s opening. “I almost wish you had said no.” He pushed one finger quickly into Elijah and Elijah tensed in pleasure around him. Dom worked the finger in and out, teasing Elijah to the fullest measure.
“More,” Elijah begged, gripping Dom’s shoulders tightly with his fingers. Dom inserted another finger and worked them around, stretching him. Elijah was writhing on top of him and it was driving Dom insane. He removed the fingers, causing Elijah to whimper, and lifted him gently off his lap.
“Are you sure?” Dom asked, searching Elijah’s face for any signs of hesitation.
“Oh God, please, Dom. God, please,” Elijah begged. That was all Dom needed, and he plunged Elijah down on him. Elijah screamed in a mixture of pain and pleasure, the sound resonating off the walls in Dom’s brain. They sat like there for a minute together, neither moving, just being one. Elijah was the first to start moving, and Dom readily joined him. Elijah slid up and down over Dom’s cock, causing sensations in both men that they didn’t realize they could feel.
Dom’s lips found refuge on every piece of skin of Elijah’s they could find. He just had to feel the warmth of Elijah’s beautiful skin under his mouth. As Elijah nibbled along Dom’s neck, Dom could feel his hot, erratic breaths along his sweaty skin.
“I’m falling apart into you,” Dom said, kissing Elijah on the lips. Elijah responded eagerly and quickened his pace.
“We’ll just intertwine.” Elijah kissed Dom again. Dom buried his face in Elijah’s neck, taking in the smell of cigarettes, soap, and sex. It was a scent all its own – it was so Elijah. Elijah licked along the line of Dom’s shoulder, then opened his mouth and bit down hard. Dom’s head flew up in surprise as Elijah continued to bite the skin of his shoulder. He moved along Dom’s shoulder blade and bit the soft spot where his neck and shoulder met. Dom’s eyes watered at the pain, but he found himself surprisingly aroused by it.
“God, Lij,” Dom moaned as Elijah licked at the bite marks he had left on Dom’s shoulder. Dom thrust harder a few more times and came with a great shout. Realizing that Elijah was rubbing his own cock, he placed his hand over Elijah’s and helped him pump until Elijah came in both their hands.
Dom lay back onto the floor, exhausted, and Elijah fell on top of him. Dom ran his hand up and down Elijah’s sweaty back and sighed.
“What?” Elijah asked from his place on Dom’s chest.
“Nothing. I’m just happy.” Dom wrapped his arm around Elijah and grabbed his hand. He interwove his fingers with Elijah’s.
“I love you, Dominic Monaghan.” Elijah lifted his head and crawled up so he was face to face with him.
“And I love you, Elijah Wood.” Elijah smiled and kissed Dom again. Dom leaned his head back down and Elijah stayed looking at him. “What?”
“I have an idea.”
“What?”
“Let’s go shower.”
* * * *
Dom and Elijah lay in bed, the moonlight creeping through the slits in the blinds causing a bluish white striped pattern to play out on the blanket covering them. Elijah was smoking a cigarette and staring out of the window, while Dom was lying on his side watching.
“What are you thinking about?” Dom asked.
“You.” Elijah turned his eyes on Dom and smiled.
“What happens now?” Dom asked the question that had been on his mind since he crawled into bed after their shower. He was still damp and flying high from their escapade in the bathroom, but that couldn’t mask the concerns creeping into his mind.
“We sleep.”
“I know that, dumbass. With us and everyone else.”
“Nothing. We tell those important to us, and other than that, it’s our little secret. If that’s okay with you.” Elijah put out his cigarette and sat up facing Dom.
“That’s fine. How do you think everyone’ll react?” Dom asked uncertainly.
“Who the fuck cares? I have you now. That’s all that matters.” Elijah kissed Dom and got out of bed. He stretched and padded over to the chair in the corner, looking for something. Dom didn’t really mind, since he got to watch Elijah’s bare ass walk across the dark room.
“Do you think Orli and Billy are back?” Elijah asked, turning to face Dom. Even after everything they had experienced that night, Elijah’s naked grace still took Dom’s breath away.
“I don’t think so.”
“I’m going to get a coke. Want one?” Elijah walked back across the room, Dom following every motion with his eyes.
“Sure.” Elijah opened the door and walked towards the kitchen. Dom curled up in the covers and smiled. Everything was so perfect. He and Elijah were together, they had just experienced the most wonderful night ever, and he was in love. Dominic Monaghan was finally in love.
“I’m in love,” he whispered to himself. It felt good falling over his lips. There was someone to live for, someone to share everything with. He burrowed deeper into the covers, filling his nostrils with the scent Elijah left behind.
He had dozed off when Elijah strolled back into the room. Elijah smiled at the sight. Dom looked so small tangled deep in those large blankets. He walked over to his side of the bed and placed the drinks on the table. He crawled in beside Dom, who stirred slightly and wrapped his arms firmly around Elijah.
“Somebody fell asleep on me,” Elijah whispered and placed a kiss on Dom’s lips. Dom didn’t even open his eyes.
“You wore me out,” he barely whispered. Elijah smiled. With Dom by his side, nothing could go wrong. He was in perfect control.
* * * *
Dom picked up the phone for the tenth time and put it right back on the hook. He didn’t understand why this was so hard for him. It was his mother. She loved him. She loved Elijah. But would she love him if he loved Elijah?
Elijah had already called his mother and told her. She was absolutely thrilled her son had actually found someone. She even made Elijah put Dom on the phone and gave him the speech about treating her baby right, but keeping him in line, and then welcomed him to the family. Dom was scared his own parents wouldn’t be so accepting.
Dom picked up the phone for the eleventh time and finally dialed his home number. It rang and rang and right before Dom was about to hang up, his mother answered the phone.
“Hullo, mum!” Dom said cheerily, almost too cheerily he realized.
“Dominic! How are you dear?” his mother asked. Dom could hear how delighted she was to talk to him.
“I’m fine. In Mexico with Elijah, Orlando, and Billy.”
“Mexico? Goodness gracious child! How are you ever going to find anyone if you keep flitting around the world and such. No nice girl is going to chase you and those boys you ‘re always going on with.”
“Yeah, mum. I know.” Dom started to perspire and could see his hands starting to shake.
“When are you coming to visit me?” Aureen asked. Dom was quiet for a moment before answering. Maybe this was the chance he needed. He figured he could be on a plane to England in a few hours, be there by the next day, break the news to his mother and father in person, then fly back to Mexico and be with Elijah. The trip would take at the most three days.
“Dominic?”
“Today. I’m going to get on a plane in a few hours. That’s why I called.”
“How delightful! I can’t wait to see you. Make sure you get plenty of rest on the plane, darling. I don’t want you to be jet-lagged and cranky.”
“All right, Mom. I’ll see you in a bit.” Dom hung up the phone and tried to steady his shaking hands. They were just his parents. They loved him. They wouldn’t care if he was in love with Elijah.
Dom ran out of the room and into the living room where Billy was watching a movie. “Get your stuff together. We’re going back to England.”
“What? Why? What’s going on, Dom? Is everything okay?” Billy asked. He got off the couch and nervously followed Dom back into his room.
“Everything’s fine. I’m only going to be gone a few days.”
“We’ve only got a few days left of this trip before it’s back to New Zealand for more shooting. Don’t you want to spend it with Lij?” Billy came around and tried to face Dom, but Dom kept darting around the room, throwing things into a large duffel bag. Billy finally grabbed his arm and spun Dom around facing him.
“Slow the fuck down and tell me what’s going on.” Billy searched Dom’s face and noticed the lines of stress and worry around his eyes.
“I’m going to tell my parents about Elijah.” Dom pulled out of Billy’s grasp and resumed his haphazard packing. Billy just kind of stood there, trying to make sense of what Dom had just told him.
“You’re what?” Billy sat on the edge of the bed and watched Dom scurry around the room pitching whatever he found towards the bag on the bed, most of it missing. He started absently placing Dom’s stuff in it while watching him carefully.
“I can’t tell them over the phone, Bills, I just can’t.” Dom stopped his packing and sat beside Billy wearily. He placed his head in his hands and pulled on his hair. “It’s not fair to Elijah for me to keep putting it off. Hell, he told his mom about me right away. I’ve just been putting it off.” Dom looked up and turned to Billy. “Please go with me. I don’t want Elijah to go, just in case something bad happens with my parents. I don’t want to go alone.”
Billy looked at his friend and realized he had never seen him like this. Dom was always goofy, happy, and optimistic. This pessimistic, upset Dominic was starting to worry him.
Billy laid his hand on Dom’s and squeezed it reassuringly. “Of course I’ll go with you. Let me grab some of my things, and then we can go.” Billy walked over to the closet he and Dom had been sharing and grabbed his own bag from the floor. He threw in a few pairs of jeans, a couple of t-shirts, and then walked over to the dresser to add boxers and the needed toiletries.
He turned to Dom when he finished packing and watched Dom stuff the last few items into his bag. Billy wondered why Dom thought he needed all that stuff, but he wasn’t going to ask him. Dom was acting strange enough – Billy left it at that.
“Ready?” Billy asked, heaving his bag over his shoulder and stuffing his hands into his pockets. Dom grabbed his bag and looked out of the window.
“The cab’s here. Let’s go.” Billy followed Dom out of the house and got into the cab after him. Only when they had been driving for a few minutes did Billy realize that Dom didn’t leave a note.

* * * *
* * * *
* * * *
* * * *
* * * *
* * * *
