There is something infinitely more painful in opening old wounds than there is in the creation of new ones. Scars seem to carry a certain memory in the tissue, a memory that is released, tenfold, and multiplied exponentially, as they are torn anew. The scars on Elijah's neck, which were, but moments ago, mere pink and unnaturally smooth memories, are screaming again with gushes of blood. Elijah sees Orli's face flash through the jolts of pain, the apology in his eyes. These are just memories too.
