Christmas Fic offering

Title: Hot Chocolate
Auther: Me, [livejournal.com profile] obsgirl
Pairing: Orli/Dom
Rating: PG-13
Feedback: is the best Christmas present! :D
Warnings: The end is majorly fluffy, and there’s implied bondage. And there’s a bit of bad language too.
A/N: Written while I was sat with nothing to do and stirring my own mug of hot chocolate. It’s a bit OOC…well, it’s very OOC actually lol. And it’s kind of the opposite of how I would normally write the characters. Anyway. It’s just some pre-Christmas angsty fluff for your entertainment.
Dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] jay_iz_mad as always, [livejournal.com profile] sapyscrazzzzy because she loves hot chocolate too, and my parents, who get really, really annoyed when I sit stirring my hot chocolate noisily for 10 minutes a night :D

*

‘Dom for crying out loud, that damn hot chocolate will evaporate if you stir it much more!’ Orlando Bloom said agitatedly. Dom Monaghan pulled a face and carried on stirring the drink.

‘It’s got lumps in, I hate lumps in my hot chocolate,’ he replied. Orlando rolled his eyes.

‘How old are you?’ he muttered grumpily, turning up the volume on the TV. ‘Most 28 year olds don’t have hot chocolate before they go to bed. 8 year olds, yes. 88 year olds, possibly. But not bloody 28 year olds.’

‘Hm?’ Dom said absently. He obviously hadn’t been listening to a word Orlando had said.

‘How is it that a mug of bloody hot chocolate gets more attention than I do, anyway?’ Orlando grumbled on. ‘I mean, every night, for at least 10 minutes, you do nothing but stir a mug of the bloody stuff, then by the time you’ve drunk it, it’s too late at night and all you want to do is sleep.’

‘Orlando, if you’re talking to me, speak louder. If you’re talking to yourself, shut up. I can’t hear the TV.’

‘Can’t bloody hear it anyway.’

‘What?’

‘Nothing, nothing.’

Orlando picked up the TV remote, now in a thoroughly bad mood, and started to skip through the channels. He knew this annoyed Dom, but he didn’t care. Eventually, Dom stopped stirring his drink and put the mug down.

‘Orli, can you stop that please?’ he asked calmly. Orlando ignored him. ‘Orlando, please, you know how much that gets on my nerves,’ Dom continued.

‘Why? You didn’t stop annoying me when I asked you,’ Orlando said sullenly. Dom sighed.

‘You’re so childish sometimes,’ he said airily, picking his hot chocolate back up and sipping at it. But that was the final straw for Orlando. Jumping to his feet, he threw the remote at the floor and glared at Dom.

‘I’m childish?’ he yelled. ‘I don’t have to have a nice mug of hot chocolate before I go to bed each night. I don’t have to have a hot water bottle when it gets too cold-’

‘That was once! I was ill!’

‘- I don’t have a little teddy bear sat by my bed all the time!’

‘My mother gave me that, Orlando!’

‘You’re just so childish!’

Dom was on his feet too now, his mug clenched in his hand like a lethal weapon. ‘I’m the childish one?’ he said in a voice that barely masked his own brewing rage. ‘Tell me, Orlando, which one of us is throwing their toys out of the pram over a mug of hot chocolate right now? Yes, I’m obviously the childish one.’

‘You know what? I don’t even care. I don’t even want to spent time with you right now, Dom.’

‘Fine. Spend time with the sofa instead.’

And with that, Dom turned on his heel and stormed from the room, leaving Orlando shaking with fury.

‘Fine,’ Orlando muttered, throwing himself back onto the sofa. ‘Fine. I’ll sleep on the fucking sofa. You see if I’m still here in the morning.’

*

Dom didn’t sleep until the early hours of the next morning. Instead, he just lay in bed, tossing and turning, replaying the argument over and over. He couldn’t believe that they had fallen out over a drink, and right before Christmas as well.

So, when he got up later that day, he headed downstairs with every intention to apologise to Orlando. It was Christmas Eve after all. He didn’t even care that it wasn’t him who started the argument, he just wanted them to be happy for Christmas.

There was only one problem. Orlando wasn’t there.

‘It’s ok, he’s probably just gone for a walk to clear his head or something,’ Dom told himself as he made some breakfast. But while he so wanted to believe this, he had a sick feeling in his stomach. What if Orlando didn’t come back? How could he spend Christmas alone, knowing how the last words he had exchanged with Orlando were so spiteful?

*

Orlando returned to his and Dom’s apartment just after 9pm that night. He was very careful to make as little noise as possible. As he closed the door, he could hear talking in the kitchen – Dom was on the phone, by the sounds of it. Orlando crept down the hall to the kitchen door, but just as he was about to go in, Dom started talking again. Orlando could tell immediately that he was crying.

‘I just don’t know what to do, Elijah. I mean, I can’t get hold of him at all. I just want him home. I want to apologise for being such a tosser…yes, Lij, I am a tosser! I blew up at him two days before Christmas. Yes, ok, so maybe he was being a bit childish, but I guess I do get a bit annoying…I mean…’ Dom broke off and sniffed hard. ‘I just want him back so we can make up and have a nice Christmas together. We haven’t been able to do that in so long, he’s always so busy with all these films…’

Orlando couldn’t stand it any more – he hated it when they argued, and he hated seeing Dom so upset, especially when it was his fault. With a slight cough, he slipped into the kitchen. Dom spun round with a gasp, accidentally knocked his favourite mug off the worktop, and barely managed to hold onto the phone.

‘Orlando…’ he breathed, his eyes wide in a look not so different from the one Elijah usually wore. ‘You’re back…Elijah, I’ll call you soon, bye.’

Orlando grinned slightly. ‘Dom…’ he began, but Dom cut across him.

‘Orli, I’m sorry for being so annoying all the time,’ he said. ‘I know I’m a bit childish at times, but…it’s just how I am. I cope with stress and stuff by being childish and cheerful. I-’

‘Dom, I wouldn’t have you any other way,’ Orlando interrupted with a small smile. ‘I was just being an arse yesterday. Stress and everything. I feel so stupid that I had a go at you over a mug of hot chocolate…’ Hanging his head, he let out a dry laugh. ‘I love you, Dommie,’ he continued, forcing himself to meet the ocean-like eyes of his boyfriend. ‘Forgive me for being such prick.’

Dom grinned. ‘I forgive you,’ he said. ‘Although you did make me have the worst Christmas Eve ever. I thought I’d lost you.’

‘I’m sorry,’ smiled Orlando, going over and wrapping his arms around Dom’s waist. ‘Oh, and I got you a present. It’s for Christmas really, but you can have it now if you like.’

‘Gimme gimme.’

Orlando laughed and handed over the bag he was carrying. Dom reached inside, eyes gleaming, and pulled out a badly wrapped package.

‘I love Christmas,’ he beamed, tearing into the wrapping.

‘Don’t drop it, whatever you do,’ Orlando warned.

‘Don’t worry, I’ve already smashed enough things today to last me a month. I mean, I smashed my favourite mug, for gods sake.’

‘I saw.’

Dom stuck his tongue out, then gave a cry of delight as he finally got into the present. It was a mug with ‘Dom’ on it in big letters, and teddy bears all over. It was obviously a child’s mug, but Dom didn’t care.

‘Orli, it’s fantastic!’ he cried, his eyes dancing. Careful not to damage it, he placed the mug on the side and threw his arms around Orlando’s neck and kissed him. ‘Thank you,’ he added, pulling away. Orlando beamed.

‘I’m not in the dog house any more then?’ he said.

‘Well…’ Dom began with a mischievous grin. ‘I might not have entirely forgiven you…’

Orlando rolled his eyes. ‘You’re just going to exploit this as much as you can aren’t you?’

‘Absolutely.’

‘And I’m going to have to go along with it aren’t I?’

‘Damn right. Come on, upstairs. And bring that left over tinsel.’

don't apologise for writing a lovely bit of Christmas fluff -- it was charming, and a very much appreciated gift!

Cheers, darling!
