Title: But I'll Settle For Love
Pairing: Eh, you'll see.
Notes:
-A HUGE thanks for
erb_ for... well, basically, everything. Thank you for putting half the plot bunny in my head. Thank you for the amazing beta, with the amazing suggestions. Thank you for the encouragement. Thank you, thank you, thank you. <3
-A thanks to Rufus Wainwright, who put the other half of the plot bunny in my head. lol.
-Happy Birthday, Caiden! Especially for you, because I love you SO much that words can't even begin to explain. I really hope you'll like this, and I really hope you'll have a wonderful day, and an even more wonderful year. You old geezer.
But I’ll settle For Love
“Jesus, Elijah, will you stop being such a fucking prude.”
Elijah huffed and buried his face a little closer behind his beer bottle.
“You wanked off to him during ‘Wilde’,” Dom grinned, ignored the giggles around the table and Elijah’s red flushed face, and went on, “And now he’s sitting right there at the bar and you’re too shy to even go up to him and say ‘hi’?”
Grecco let out a chuckle-filled laugh.
“Thanks very much, Dom,” Elijah snapped annoyed, “This is really the conversation I wanted to have tonight.”
“Agh, don’t sweat it, man,” Shox said as he offered Elijah a new cigarette, “It’s not like we didn’t know you have a crush on the guy.”
“How?” Elijah started incredulous as Grecco loudly interrupted him, “You had to excuse yourself to the bathroom two times when we saw ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’!”
Dom let out a loud, sharp laugh as his beer glass clinked on the table. Some of it splashed over the brim just as a waiter passed by, and Dom quickly covered the dirty table spot with Shox’s picked apart coaster pieces.
“Go on,” Grecco pushed a little, and Elijah straightened a bit, eyes fixed on his target.
He took a big gulp of his beer for courage, but ended up spilling some of it on his shirt. Elijah snuck another look at the bar before he leaned back in his chair while muttering something about a big hole in the ground to suck him up.
Fingers closed around each other,
pushing him down underneath hard muscles
into soft soothing sheets.
His body pinned
beneath heavy breathing
and
beer-tanged lips.
“Just go to the bar, sit on that empty stool next to him and act casual,” Dom said, “I’m sure he’ll be really friendly.”
“I don’t even know him, Dom,” Elijah protested, fiddling with the clasp of his watch.
“And yet you’ve wanked to him so many times,” Shox mused, “I’m sure there’s a romantic movie hidden in there somewhere.”
“Oh shut up, Shoxwaken,” Elijah teased, “Before we start reminiscing about some of your more sordid film moments.”
Shox laughed and downed his beer.
“Just think about it, Lij,” Dom said as he put his hand on Elijah’s shoulder and looked over at the man at the bar. Green eyes returned his gaze briefly. A small acknowledging nod was passed his way.
Dom rubbed a malt-sticky finger on Elijah’s cheek, “Think about all the naughty things you can do to him.
Approving sounds arose from round the table as Elijah turned an even nicer shade of red.
“I bet you’d love to be pinned down beneath him, his fingers exploring every inch of your b…”
“Jeesh, Dom!” Elijah exclaimed, looking around nervously to see of anyone had heard, “I think we get the picture.”
“I’m still a little fuzzy on the details, actually,” Shox smiled devilishly, “Do go on, Dom.”
“You’re an ass, Shox,” Elijah huffed as Dom raised his glass and clunked it against Shox’s.
A groan escaped his lips,
filling the room so completely it was almost suffocating,
until
a warm thrust turned the groan into a gasp,
fresh and unexampled.
“Listen, Lij,” Dom drawled out on the last syllable, “What are the odds of the object of your lustful affection sitting in the same bar as you?”
“We’re in LA, Dom, it’s not th…” Elijah tried to reason but Dom cut him off.
“It’s like… it’s like a wild-card.”
“Like in FRIENDS,” Grecco injected.
“Like in FRIENDS!” Dom exclaimed, “Just go up to him and shag the life out of him.”
“Why are you so gung-ho about this?” Elijah frowned, “I mean, you of all pe…”
“Now what kind of man would I be if I didn’t encourage you to pursue that hunky bit of manflesh over there?” Dom sighed dramatically, “How could I ever live with myself again?”
Grecco slapped his hand on Dom’s shoulder and sniffed, “You’re a hero, Dominic.”
“You’re all off your heads,” Elijah concluded, tracing his finger along the brim of his bottle. He brought the wet tip to his mouth.
The man at the bar shifted a little, reaching in his jacket and pulled a blinking cell phone out. Elijah could see him say, “Talk to me,” more than he could hear it over the music that filled the bar.
He closed his eyes, a slow whimper escaping from parted salty lips
as the fire went through his body,
scorching from head to toe,
soft fingers tracing up his upper arm,
landing against the warmth of his exposed neck.
“It’s Jude fucking Law,” Dom’s voice was close now, clattering in his ear, “It’d be a sin not to fuck him.”
“Dom, you may not be aware of this but not every man want to fuck… well, men,” Elijah said.
“Guys as pretty as that?” Dom arched an eyebrow as he looked over at the bar, “Sure he does!”
“Hey!” Grecco protested, “So us straight men aren’t pretty enough to be gay?”
“You got some weird mind boggles, Bananaleaves,” Shox chuckled behind his drink.
“O-oh,” Grecco said, nodding towards the bar, “He’s leaving.”
Three heads swung around to see Jude throw a couple of dollars on the bar and grab his jacket.
“Shit, time for action, Lij,” Dom urged, “This might be your only chance.”
“Dom, I seriously don’t…” Elijah started.
“He’s sex on legs and you’ve been fantasizing about him since I’ve known you,” Dom reasoned, “It’d be like Shox meeting Miss Piggy and not putting the moves on her.”
“I severely hate you right now,” Shox said dryly.
Elijah let out a shaky sigh.
“Make up your mind, mate,” Shox said, his eyes following Jude as he left the bar, “And do it damn fast.”
Elijah blinked as he brought one hand up to his mouth, instinctively chewing on a nail. He saw Jude lean down to pick up his dropped wallet, and then glancing up into Elijah’s eyes from where he stood at the door. A few seconds and a smiling nod later he was gone.
“You truly are beautiful in all that you do…”
It was only a soft whisper, but it made Elijah open his eyes and face him,
a heartily smile breaking through.
“So are you,” Elijah answered, bringing up a finger to touch Dom’s lips.
“You shouldn’t have waited so long,
and then maybe you could’ve cashed in your wild-card,”
Dom smiled softly.
“Yeah…” Elijah nodded,
not regretful.
“Now you had to settle for me again,” Dom smiled,
gently nudging his head a little closer
until he found Elijah’s chest.
Elijah’s fingers ran idly through Dom’s hair.
He whispered, feeling stable as Dom’s breathing,
“But I’ll always settle for you..”

I squeed when I saw this!
Whats more it was good! Although I must say... having to "settle " for Dom doesn't sound like much of a hardship at all. In fact, when I consider Jude Law, I know I would never give him a glance if I had Dom...OR Shox or...hey, just where is that scrumpious Guy fellow during this little fic?

Haha. No, I know. If I had
DomShoxDomShox, I wouldn't even notice Jude either. :p Guy? He's off writing songs or something. ;)no subject
