I know some people like to have graphics in the headers of their stories, and that's all well and good. But I would like to request that the bigger ones are please, please, please, put under a cut. It's common courtsey, folks. The pictures, lovely though they may be, make loading a friendslist take much, much longer.

In short: have mercy on we fossils using dial-up. Use lj-cuts for large header graphics.

Sorry 'bout that, if you were talking about mine. I have dial-up too and a rather awful lack of patience. It didn't seem to take too long so I thought it would be alright.

I have Windows 95 and a hard drive half the size of an iPod, so I'm probably the anomaly when it comes to time spent loading things. I didn't mean to target anyone, but thank you.

How big is big? I know some communities have set that pictures wider than 500 pixels should be placed behind the cut. What do you consider big and would thus like place behind a cut? I'd just like to know so that I know and can abide by your wishes. *g* Thanks!

I think it depends a lot on the resolution; hi-res stuff takes much longer to download. But yeah, I think that having things greater than 500 pixels either wide or high cut is reasonable. The other problem is, once things start getting too wide, they stretch the text boxes on certain LJ views, and that's irritating too.

It's really just a suggestion, I tend to nitpick more and more the slower my computer gets. :)
