AUTHOR'S NOTES: Written as a birthday fic forlilypossibly. Sorry it's a bit on the late side!
Fate was a strange and wonderful thing, David decided as he lay there that night with his new fiancé wrapped safely in his arms. It was fate that had brought them together, it had to be. Logic would have brought him Bean, or maybe even Billy. Hell, it would have been far more logical for him to be there right now holding Elijah. But he wasn’t. Logic had completely bypassed Karl, but fate had delivered him instead.
One scene they’d had together. That was it. And their characters hadn’t even spoken then. They’d just stood on opposite sides of the set as Viggo walked past them. But they’d been brought together anyhow.
They’d met often enough whilst filming in New Zealand. Made eyes across crowded rooms, and spoken in hurried whispers when their paths did cross. But compared to others, they were hardly together. It wouldn’t have been surprising if he’d ended up with someone he’d been working with 24/7, but David had turned out to be a surprising person.
It had started with a simple “hello” across a table several years back now. A “hello” that led to numerous visits to pubs and clubs, sometimes with others and sometimes just together. The pubs and clubs led to a drunken kiss, which in turn led to more kisses in a more sober state of mind. And those kisses, which had led to sex and then on to lovemaking, had led them here, entwined together in bed, engaged.
It was all a matter of fate, David decided, and fate was most definitely a strange and wonderful thing.
