Notes: It's nice to kind of be back to normal... again, I remind you that this is all totally AU (as most RPS is, right?) and the schedule is totally wonky and fucked up. *giggle* So, don't try to figure out where the hell I am in the actual time line... it hurts my brain to try and figure it out.

Billy nervously shifted in the uncomfortable seat as he checked his watch for the hundredth time in the course of ten minutes. It had just clicked over to seven and Dominic had yet to show up.

It had been almost a week since their big argument... since things had been forced to come back to normal terms. But they had not really reconciled.

"I've got to go soon, Billy." Dominic had sighed as they lay there on the floor so many ages ago.

"Right, you're doing some of your remote shots... I remember." Billy traced the lines of Dominic's face, picturing them behind his closed eyes. He had actually forgotten in the the course of their separation, but it had all come back with ease. Six days... could he go six days after they decided it was time to fix their errors?

Billy fumbled with the sugar as he added it to his coffee, spilling some on the plain white tablecloth. Dominic had called not an hour previous to let him know that they were back in town and he wanted to meet up at some little hole in the wall restaurant Orlando had suggested... sometime around seven o'clock. It was 7:08 and there was still no sign, but that was mostly normal for any of them.

Just stop worrying, Boyd. He tried to keep his mind under control, things were going well for the first time in weeks and the last thing he needed to do was kill it off. Hell, Dominic had even called every night he was away, just so they could talk about how their day went and say what tender words they could.

"Hope I didn't keep you long." Dominic's voice was behind him, and Billy turned in time to greet him with a soft kiss on the lips. "I got lost..."

"It's alright." Billy smiled softly, a reflex when he saw Dom's playful grin. "I knew you were coming."

Dominic chuckled slightly, sliding into the high backed chair across from his lover. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."

A quiet moment came between them and Billy wondered, not for the first time, just what Dominic was thinking. Before they could even entertain the idea of polite conversation, a waitress brought them a tray with two glasses of white wine. "Mr. Monaghan?" She spoke softly, smiling at them.

"Thank you, miss." Dominic smiled and waited as she gingerly placed the fragile glasses in front of them. "I believe we are ready for the first course."

Billy raised an eyebrow, apparently Dominic had taken the liberty of ordering ahead. "Dommie... love..."

"Mmm?" Dominic smiled softly and let a rather cheeky grin slide across his lips. "What?"

"I'm surprised you didn't order champagne." Billy rolled his eyes, shaking his head slightly. "I hope you didn't go to too much trouble..."

"No trouble is too much for my Billy." Dominic blushed slightly and lowered his head, taking his glass in hand. "A toast?"

"To what?" Billy chuckled slightly, "Love?"

"Sure." Dominic nodded, "True love."

Billy felt a blush creep up in his cheeks and murmured, "True love." As they gently tipped the rims of their glasses to meet, then sipped at the wine. True love... and he wondered why it was so easy to fall head over heels for the boy. A long pause passed between them when the soup was brought out and Billy let his worn Oxfords tap gently against Dom's boots as they ate.

Then Dom struck out, playfully kicking aside Billy's foot and chuckling under his breath. Billy smiled, feeling his inner child beginning to peek out. In a moment of triumph, he kicked Dom in the shins lightly and stuck out his tongue. Dom retaliated in turn and before Billy knew it they were taking turns kicking at each other under the table like a pair of children.

Billy giggled rather loudly, then pulled down in his seat, realizing the few occupants in the cafe were giving them odd looks. He cleared his throat and looked around, giving Dominic time to compose himself. "Cut it out." His cheeks burned, but he had to admit it was fun.

Dominic shrugged a shoulder, then ran his foot up Billy's leg slightly as though he should be wearing a stiletto heel instead of heavy boots. "Sorry..."

"Don't be." Billy whispered, unable to hold back his grin. As the audience went back to their own conversations, they both went back to their meal. "The soup is delicious." He nodded, gesturing towards his bowl with the deep spoon.

Dominic smirked and nodded back, his own cheeks looking a little pink. "Yeah, it's got oysters." He brought a rather full bite to his mouth, a drizzle of the broth leaking over the edge and onto his shirt before passing his lips.

Billy giggled, removing the napkin from his lap to blot at the stain... then realized Dom was looking at him funny. "What?"

"I've got it, Bill." Dominic chuckled slightly, his own napkin in hand. "Thanks."

He nodded, unsure if the sudden drop in Dominic's voice meant he was taking a more serious tone or just flustered over the incident. A long moment passed and Billy watched each minute moment as Dominic dabbed at the stain with some water on his napkin.

"Maybe some club soda..." Billy offered quietly.

"No, it's alright." Dominic sighed, dropping his napkin on the table.

They were silent again and Billy went back to finishing his soup as Dom silently watched him. There were so many things to say, and he knew it... but where to begin? Is there any way to fix things that had gone so wrong?

"Susan." Dom's voice was calm, collected as he took a bite, swilling it down with the wine.

"Hmm?" Billy looked up, unsure if he had missed the beginning of what Dom had said. "I didn't catch that..."

"Her name... it was Susan or Suzanne... or something like that." Dominic's head hug a little lower as he continued to dip into his soup. "I told her my name was Sean." He chuckled slightly, but without much humor; "I didn't want her to call me by my real name."

Billy realized what Dominic was doing, instead of just easing into the subject with nothing more than apologies he was trying to tell the whole story. "Stop, Dom. I don't... I don't want to know."

"I think you need to know, Billy... we need the closure." Dominic finished with his soup, pushing the bowl aside as though they were having a casual conversation about the weather.

Closure? No, closure accomplished things... dredging up the near past only made people uncomfortable. "I don't need closure, Dom. I'm over it, see?" He finished his soup, barely looking up. "I'm not even thinking about it any more."

"Billy... just listen, alright?" Dominic watched the waitress return, once more filling their glasses and clearing the table.

"Fine... I'm listening. Though I have to say I don't think this is getting us anywhere we particularly would like to be." Billy sighed, checking his watch. It was already 7:20 and Dominic seemed determined to make it the longest dinner of his life.

"She started hitting on me right in front of the guys, but I told her I wasn't interested." Dominic pretended to occupy himself with the salad they had both received, but didn't appear to succeed. "But you know, several drinks later she cornered me while the guys were out dancing, and I didn't have the heart to tell her I was in a relationship."

"It's not my job to tie you down." Billy felt the rage bubbling under his skin, dredging up the fact that Dom should have known how much it would hurt.

"Stop it, Billy. I know..." Dominic looked up, catching Billy's gaze and making his heart beat a little too fast. "I felt something I hadn't felt until that night... as I watched her pull on her clothing and kick me out of her apartment." His cheeks seemed to flush, but he forced the issue. "I felt... dirty."

"Well..." Billy swallowed, knowing there were two ways to take the conversation. He chose the high road, forgiveness, above guilt. "I understand, you were drunk... she was there..."

Dominic set his fork down and his hands reached for Billy's. "I should have come home instead... it was a stupid thing to do, but I don't regret it."

Billy swallowed, letting Dominic's fingers intertwine with his once more. "You don't?"

He shook his head in response, "Billy, everything happens for a reason. This... this just told me that maybe we needed some time apart to think about what we really want."

Silence. Billy could hear the world slowing around them, but he looked up into Dominic's eyes and remembered the warm feeling of gray stormy days. "And what do you want, Dom?"

Dom's face melted into a smile and he let out a dry chuckle. "What do you want, Billy?"

It was too difficult of a question to just pass off like that. But Billy knew he should answer, he should let Dominic know the things he didn't feel comfortable saying. "I want... the life I had before I ever heard of this film." He chuckled slightly, "I want simplicity again, to wake up in the morning knowing that nothing was going to change much from the day before." He lowered his eyes, feeling himself blush as he realized what Dominic must be thinking, "And I want those days with you."

He looked up again and Dominic was nodding. He sighed in response; "I can't give you those things, Billy. My life... my life has never been simple."

"I know." Billy squeezed Dom's hands tighter still, "But I can deal with that, Dom. As long as I have you."

The waitress returned and Dom shooed her away; "We're fine for the moment, Miss."

"I'm sorry, sir, but the rest of your party has arrived." Her voice did not change. "Shall I seat them?"

"Party?" Billy raised an eyebrow, suddenly feeling a bit cheated.

"Fuck..." Dom muttered under his breath, "They're early... I thought we were going to have some time..."

"A party? You invited the boys? I thought this was just a night for us?" Billy grumbled, shaking his head.

"It is... they just..." Dom cursed loudly as Elijah lead the pack into the dining room; Orlando, Viggo, Sean and Ian all trailed close behind. "They're fucking early!"

"Did he say 'Yes'?" Elijah's giggle carried the span between them, followed by a chorus of similar questions melding together into a rather annoying murmur.

Dom shook his head and stood up, looking rather accusingly at them; "Don't any of you own a watch?" His voice rose, "You're fifteen minutes early! I didn't even have time to set it up yet!"

"Set what up?" Billy raised an eyebrow. "Why do I feel like a mushroom here?"

Elijah stopped, suddenly looking a bit childish as they descended on the table, swinging into the chairs from the next one over.

"Nothing!" Orlando laughed slightly, throwing a shrug. "Just... the party, you know." He flashed one of his smiles that let the world know he was probably faking it, "We reserved a whole floor back at the old hotel!"

"For what?" Billy looked up, even more confused as Dominic pulled Sean and Ian away from the louder pair. "What did I miss?"

"Just for you and Dom..." Elijah inhaled deeply, whimpering when Orlando elbowed him in the gut.

"For getting back together after your big fight!" Orlando finished, giving Lij another dirty look.

"Yeah, that." Elijah groaned, rubbing his stomach. "You didn't have to hit me..."

"Billy!" Dom called out above the sudden crowd, "You can ride with them, right? I have to get some things together..."

"We've got 'im!" Orli swept Billy out of his seat, Elijah taking the other side. Before Billy could really respond he was being led out the front entrance towards Elijah's waiting SUV.
