Title: Moth to a flame
Author: [livejournal.com profile] pandorashobbit
Rating: PG
Pairing: Elijah/?
Summary: "You have to let it go."
Disclaimer: Not true. And no one worry, no Elijahs or moths were harmed in the writing of this fic.
A/N: I'm not really sure who the other person is. I guess you can imagine it being whoever you want it to be. ::shrug:: I apologize if it seems odd or sucks, it's the product of a weird sleeping schedule and seeing RotK three times in the last four days which isn't good for my emotions.
Feedback: It's like Pop tarts to a pothead.

It was white with the slightest hint of pale green.

Elijah was captivated by it. It was so... beatuiful. There was something oddly special about the moth that fluttered around the room. Flew like it was the only thing in the room and it commanded Elijah's attention.

When it finally landed on the wall, he approached it slowly, not wanting to scare it away. He edged towards it until he was able to cup it in his hands. He smiled, proud that he was able to catch it so easily, and chuckled at the way the moth's wings tickled his palms.

But his laughter quickly died down when he could hear words echo in his head. Chastising words from his mother when he was only six.

"Elijah, honey, you have to let it go or it will die. You don't want to kill it, do you?"

He remembered how those same words were repeated to him not too long ago. When he left and Elijah tried desperatly to hold on.

Hold on to the threads of something that couldn't be saved no matter how hard he tried. To hold on to someone who had moved on and he could never catch.

Someone who had crushed him under their heel.

Then the thought of the moth only brought pain and not the simple joy that it did earlier. It reminded him too much of what he wanted and couldn't have, what he had and would never have again.

He sighed heavily and opened his hands, watching it flutter though the air. Free. Watching until it landed on the floor.

Then he crushed it with his shoe.
