There are times Elijah thinks he's missed out on something.

It doesn't happen very often, but when it does it hits him like a tidal wave. He can't help but feel an ache of regret in the pit of his stomach, whenever he's with his friends and they begin to tell stories of high school pranks, graduations, and proms.

When all he can do is sit back and listen to things he didn't and will never get to experience.

Later, when he's home, surrounded by pictures of New Zealand, premieres, and... fountains, he thinks...

...he didn't miss anything at all.

I'm surprised that the song came to mind when you saw those words. I didn't think anyone would notice, because right before I posted the story I happened to hear that song and thought that line kinda fit the fic.

Oh, I'm a major Britney fan too. I just didn't think anyone would make the connection to the song and the words in the lj cut.
