Little Drabble Thingy-mabob

Title: Treasures of the Sea
Author: Rutaari (nalenuur@yahoo.com)
Rating: G
Pairing: uh... none... sorry:(
Summary: Little drabble thing that just hit me one day. BTW, the name "Orlando" means "Golden Treasure."
Anyway, pls read.

As many do, this tale begins with a storm, a tempest
beyond that which any man could fathom, so violent and
fierce that nothing in its path could hope to survive.
Thunder roared and lightning struck the horizon,
sending the sky into a tumult of angry, rolling
clouds.
So it was that the brave Sea Siren was tossed amongst
the ferocious waves, until her wooden beams splintered
and cracked and her mast snapped and disappeared into
the depths of the sea, towing its once-white sails
behind. Everything was lost, every plank, every
cannon, every life.

Save for one.

A fighter he was, in body and soul, not an ounce of
surrender in his bone, and his spirit soared higher
than the eagle’s wing, full of life. Beauty was his
name, for his skin was fair as powder, his dark curls
shimmering in the sun, his eyes like blue fire,
sparkling with life and love. So beautiful was he that
Poseidon himself could not stand to destroy this gift
to the earth. So he was saved, gifted a mere plank of
wood in which to clutch as the sea tossed him
mercilessly through the dark, until at last, his feet
found earth. He was too precious a treasure to cheapen
with scars or unfitting marrings, for a treasure he
was. And his name was Orlando.

As per usual, you have turns of phrase which astound and bewitch me.

"As many do, this tale begins with a storm"
"A fighter he was, in body and soul..."
"... not an ounce of surrender in his bone..."

You're usually very good, my love. But sometimes, you're downright brilliant.

Love,
Julie-Rae
