Rating: PG at this stage, but it won't stay that way for long.
Notes/Disclaimer: Viggorli stuff, purely of my own imagining. I'm choosing to take a v. postmodern approach to fact, chronology etc. This is an ongoing piece that I'll post in small parts if anyone's interested.
Cool.

Ten years of dreams about darkness had taught Viggo to live without sleep. He got by on dozing for half an hour at a time in the small hours, always keeping the light on and the music up so he wouldn't drift too far.
In the daylight he felt that this pattern was making him old, so he wrote poetry about wrinkling and doubling over, and painted images of old men with skeletal hands and sunken eyes. At night words became harder to find, and he'd paint the angels that kept the darkness away. They were all young and beautiful. One had Orlis hands, another his eyes, another his lips, another the long pale hair that wasn't his at all but that he'd worn the first time they'd kissed.
Viggo had mapped the body he'd memorised faithfully over ten, twelve, fifteen canvasses and stacked them carefully in the corner of his studio. They were for no one but him.
