Elijah's world is about to come crashing down.
Elijah’s felt like he was going to tip over. The whole world had kind of taken on this new, greenish sort of tint. That can’t be healthy. Is this healthy?
He wanted to run; as fast as he could. Out of the trailer, off the lot, away…just away.
But that would leave him with heaps of new problems he didn’t need, and Billy didn’t look like he would let Elijah easily take that option. Elijah wondered if maybe he could jump up to the trailer roof, pull off a movie stunt type flip and escape through the sunroof. That, or die, right on the spot…
“Elijah, please.” Billy insisted, “answer me.” Oh, right. Billy. He was still waiting for Elijah to say something. Waiting for Elijah to ruin their friendship with what he had to say. He wanted Elijah to do it soon, so that Billy could slam out of the trailer and never see him again, save when they were filming, and then it’d be all about silence, and awkwardness…
“Just tell me, Elijah, is it true? Is Dom right?!” and Damn, he’s still there, he hadn’t left while Elijah was thinking. Yes, was what Elijah wanted to shout, yes, Dom was right, I love you, Bills, I’m fucking in LOVE with you. There! Deal with it! But no, that was not an option. Telling him, admitting it, could not be an option.
Yet it was the only one.
So Elijah, blinking through his just-forming tears, glanced up and locked eyes with Billy’s jade ones. And he nodded slowly, and held his breath.
He knew he was still looking Billy in the eye, but his mind couldn’t wrap around that fact. In his mind, his eyes were squeezed shut as tightly as they could be; bracing himself for the blow.
Bracing himself for Billy’s sharp words, for Billy to end the friendship and take Dom and Sean along with him, and Elijah would have no one. He’d be surrounded by people, but he’d have no one, because Dom and Sean, and Orlando and most of all, Billy, were his everything. And if he fucked it up with Billy, he fucked it up with all of them.
Elijah Wood was used to getting what he wanted. From a very young age, all he had to do was work at it a little, and everything was within his grasp. His mother, at one point, had told him that it would spoil him; and that he was going to be in for a big surprise one day when he didn’t get what everything he put his mind to. And his mother had been right. Elijah would not get what he wanted this time, and it was going to break his heart.
An hour passed. Or maybe it was only a few seconds, but he was still there, biting his lip, and oh, right. Staring at Billy.
And Billy is taking a big deep breath of air, and looking menacing and appalled, and…
No. Elijah’s eyes widen, as he notices, as he snaps out of it and really LOOKS at Billy,
Billy looks relieved.
“Oh, thank God, because, damn, Elijah, I don’t think I could have lasted one more bloody second…” and then Billy is kissing him.
And Elijah is immensely comforted. Because Elijah Wood always did get what he wanted.
