Dominic lay sprawled out on the bed, his head turned to the side, looking out the window as the sun began to come up. The light parted through white, fluffy clouds and peeked through the trees, leaking into the bedroom. The sun was welcome just as much as it was unwelcome, for while it brought promise of a new day, it also signified the end of an otherwise perfect night.

Looking to his side, Dominic couldn’t help but smile. There lay Billy, curled up into an almost fetal looking position, the thin sheet tucked under his chin. Dominic glanced over the edge of the bed to see pillows, a duvet and yet another sheet discarded on the floor, a reminder of the previous night. He almost felt bad, taking up ninety-five percent of the bed, but on the other hand, Billy looked rather content, a sleep induced smile creeping across his lips.

Flopping onto his side, Dominic put his arms around Billy, pulling the small man back against his chest, and nuzzling his face in the soft hair of his bed-mate. Billy groaned, either in protest or arousal, and Dominic chuckled. He felt Billy shift in his arms, and kissed the side of his face gently.

“Too early,” Billy yawned, stretching his arms over and above his head.

“S’not,” Dominic said in a matter-of-factly voice, his fingers dancing along Billy’s hip.

Billy grunted, rolling over so that he was facing Dominic. He blinked a few times, either adjusting to the light or adjusting to the smirk on Dominic’s face. “It is too early,” Billy stated. “The sun’s just starting to come up now.”

Dominic shrugged, nuzzling his nose against the day-old stubble on Billy’s chin. “You really should grow this out. It’s sexy.”

“Don’t change the topic.”

“Sorry, but it is.”

Billy sighed, smiling hopelessly. “How on earth can you wake up so early?”

“I spend most of the night awake anyway,” Dominic replied, his fingers moving up and down the length of Billy’s bicep.

“Oh?”

“Yeah.”

“And why is that, Mr. Monaghan?”

Dominic rolled his eyes. “I like to watch you sleep. You have such a wonderful glow when you’re asleep.”

Billy grinned, still half-asleep. “I also get a glow after sex, ya know.”

“This is a different glow,” Dominic replied, his voice serious. “A sleep induced glow.”

“Does it turn you on?” Billy joked, rubbing Dominic’s thigh.

“Billy,” Dominic said in a stern voice, “I’m serious. You’re simply gorgeous when you sleep.”

“And you watch me?”

Dominic nodded. “Yes. Cheesy, I know. But I’m allowed, damn it!”

Billy chuckled. “If you say so, Dom.”

He looked at Billy, smiling and stroking his entire face with lazy fingers. He moved his index finger all along Billy’s jaw, slipping past his chin and down along his neck, over his Adam’s apple and then in the crevice near his collar bone. Billy closed his eyes and purred at the sensation.

Dominic smiled, rolling onto his front, resting partially on Billy, whom he pushed gently down onto the mattress. Billy opened his eyes, looking at Dominic through his lashes, the sun shining so brightly now that all he could really make out was the outline of light around his lover’s body. He licked his lips and then pursed them tightly together.

“It’s hard to tell,” Dominic said softly, almost to himself as he moved his fingers down Billy’s chest.

He inhaled deeply, arching off the bed slightly and into Dominic’s touch. “What are you talking about?”

Dominic smiled, leaning in and pressing his lips softly to Billy’s, savouring the kiss longer then he normally did. He pulled back, and then kissed Billy again, so gently that their lips barely touched,

“I was just thinking that it’s hard tell whether or not you look more gorgeous when you’re asleep, or when you’re awake,” Dominic whispered, fingers dancing along Billy’s hip.

Billy raised his hand, his fingers fanning out against the side of his lover’s face. “You flatter me too much. Such a sweet man you are.”

Dominic blushed, rubbing his nose against Billy’s. They didn’t say anything more, at least not with words. The emotions they felt at that moment were – as they thought – communicated in better ways; a timeless rhythm that they had created, that was for no one else but themselves.
