Dilemma

Sorry this isn't a fic post but I've got a dilemma over a story of mine. It's a fic I'm not sure whether to post. It's the kind of subject that might squick some people - it has actually squicked one of the people who I've showed it to. Basically I'm after another opinion. If other people think that it's too "out there" then I'm not going to post. I'm not an established writer and so I don't want to alienate people and put them off reading anything else that I've written.

Is there anyone out there who'd be willing to take a look? It's about Dom receiving dirty phone calls from an anonymous caller.

it might be really good :) send it over: _digitalangel@livejournal.com

I'd be happy to give it a look - I don't squick easily, but I'm sure I could give you a read on how "out there" it is. daile@hotmail.com

I'll read it, I like odd, squicky things.

I'm curious to read it now :) aralinde@livejournal.com

I'm willing to give you an opinion on it. I'm fairly unsquickable if the writing is up to scratch and I will give you an honest opinion. Please email me at my LJ adress if you'd like me to take a look.

People are generally very fair with authors around here as long as they are 100% honest with their warnings so that people can avoid what they really don't want to read about. There are also communities such as Squicky (http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=squicky) which you could post it to if you are not comfortable posting it to this community.

Now, don't let me put you off posting it, or continuing with it! It's not my thing but I'm sure others will love it.

i think that as long as you put enough detail in your header's "warnings" or "summary" section you should be fine to post it wherever you like. people can then decide whether or not to click the link.

(also, if you're still looking for readers, i wouldn't mind taking a look. amaltheagray@yahoo.com.)

Thank you for mentioning this community - I didn't know it existed.

a bit late, maybe, but you've certainly grabbed my attention. sounds interesting... if, in the rare event that you're still wanting someone to look it over, my email is eunuchs_united [at] butwhyistherumgone [dot] com. *g*

I like things that squick most people. I personally think you should post it, just put warnings and all that in it. Then if people know they get squicked by stuff like that, they can just not read it. But then those of us who want to read it, can. :) I'd be happy to read it for you too if you need more opinions. Moodygirl@canada.ca :)

You're very welcome. I look forward to seeing it posted.

That actually sounds incredibly interesting.
Some of the best fics have a squick factor to them, in my opinion. And your fic definitely sounds different and interesting.

Please pass it along to me if you're not going to post it anywhere.

I'll happily take a look at it for you; I've never been squicked, and I think I may have read every squickable fic online trying to get me there. *laughs* Send away.

Ah, I forgot to say, send it to: Carelyx@aol.com

Hee. You know, if you were looking for a way to get a ton of feedback on a fic, this was a great way to do it! Not that you were, it just makes me laugh that there've been so many responses.

Adding my voice to the chorus: People've posted snuff fic here before, so really, I don't think that anything that you post could be too "out there". I mean, I can't think of anything more extreme, you know? So my vote is stick some warnings on it and post away. Should you decide not to do that, though, my vote is to email it to me, because I'm nosy: vegetariansushi @ hotmail . com.

I was thinking the same thing.

Well you've already had heaps of people willing to read it for you, so I won't offer my services, but make sure you come back and tell us if you're going to post it here, or if we need to get it off you via email. I want to read it to :-)

Hey, I'm new. *waves*
And now you've piqued my curiosity. LiketheRainbow1@aol.com, pleaseandthankyou. :D

I think it's important that this fic gets posted. I'm dying to read it now, and I don't even like Dom. Hahaha. Obviously loads of other people want to read it too, so, yeah. I'm gonna repeat everyone else and say to put a warning on it and post it. Pronto!

OOH, I hope I'm not too late! I'd like to have a look, as well...
