The Biggest Risk
Title: The Biggest Risk
Author: The Phantom Writer
silentnumbsmoke
Pairing: BB/DM... sorta.
Rating: PG-13
Feedback: I'd love you forever. Plus, I'd give you a cookie.
Disclaimer: It's all fiction.
Notes: 1) I have a cool little book called "The Writer's Block." It looks like a block, and there's a different spark word or picture on each page; just something to spark your imagination. It's great; I absolutely love it. Anyway... I used one of the block's sparks for this story. The spark? "Describe the biggest risk you've ever taken."
2) This story has alternate endings... just so y'know. So there's fluff and angst!
3) *huggles
airlia_vega* Thank you!
“I couldn’t believe it. In love with a fellow hobbit? My ‘younger cousin’ to boot? No. It was unacceptable. I’d be laughed right out of the feet trailer, rejected and alone. And Billy would never look at me without disgust in those beautiful eyes again. I couldn’t risk it. I would lose all self-respect, my best friend, and I would never hear the end of the teasing from Elijah and Orlando.
“So I locked it up; locked the feeling deep inside, in the back of my heart where it wouldn’t be found.
“At least, that was my plan. Funny, my plans never did go that far.
“The feelings for Billy kept surfacing. I found myself staring at him, daydreaming about him… I’m fairly positive I had several dreams starring the man as well.
“I was going insane. I knew I would hate myself if I never told him. Besides, anything was better than was I was going through, right?
“So, as soon as I made the decision to tell him, I wouldn’t let myself back down, no matter how much I wanted to. I prepared myself and visibly shook until the point when I sat Billy down and stuttered through my rehearsed speech.”
“And was it better than what you had been going through?”
Alternate Ending #1
A smile pulled at Dominic’s lips as he reached for his boyfriend. “Yes, Billy,” he responded, leaning in to nuzzle against Billy’s neck. “Better than I could have imagined.”
Alternate Ending #2
A tear slid down Dominic’s cheek. “No,” he whispered, answering the coordinator’s question. “I’d much rather return to the uncertainty and hope that maybe my feelings were returned. Instead, now I’ve lost my best mate and turned to another friend instead. A friend who could never do me any good.”
He gulped and raised his eyes from the podium where he stood. Staring out at the group of intently listening people who had one thing in common, he took in a shaky breath. “My name is Dominic,” he began slowly, “and I am an alcoholic.”
