Notes: I wrote this off of the spark word "Dream." I wrote it in 11 minutes, then immediately sent if off to my beta reader, [livejournal.com profile] airlia_vega, who responded almost immediately. And now, three days later, I offer it to you.

Dominic’s eyes refused to close. The black of night surrounded him, yet there was nothing he could do. Sleep wouldn’t come; he knew that after years of trying and struggling to achieve it.

Insomnia’s a bitch.

Sometimes Dom would shuffle to his feet and watch some tele. Sometimes he would find something to eat. Sometimes he’d listen to music while writing.

Lately, though, he did none of the above.

Now he would lay in bed and turn to his left. Watching Billy.

He used to love to dream. Dreaming would take him places he could never be in reality. Dreaming would bring to surface all emotions that didn’t dare bubble up in the daylight.

Dreaming let him know that he was still alive.

Within the last year, since he and Billy had created a relationship, Dominic had not once cursed his insomnia. In fact, he smiled at the thought of it.

Yes, it was a nuisance. But he no longer felt the need to dream.

Why dream when he had perfection in front of him? Why dream when the only thing he ever dreamed of already lay, perfectly still, in front of him?

He felt no need to dream anymore, for his dreams had come true.

Dreaming let him know that he was still alive.

Yeah, that's about right.
