Title: Andromeda
Author: Amanda
Rating: R
Pairing: Dom/Billy
Warnings: Drug use
Summary: Billy wants to fly.
Author's Notes: Can be read as a sequel to "Icarus," but stands alone perfectly well. Very much a mood piece.

Dom spins in a different orbit entirely.

The rest of us, we circle the sun once every 23 hours and 58 minutes, but Dom is off somewhere else, somewhere out around Jupiter. Lost somewhere among the stars. Drifting through a nebula, or maybe an asteroid belt.

Billy often wonders if he can ever bring him home. Human beings aren't meant to live with the stars, but if anyone can do it, it's Dom.

Sometimes Billy looks into Dom's eyes and all he sees are the stars. He hates to admit it, but he's jealous. Billy's too sensible, too logical, too practical. No one that ordinary can understand the attraction of the cosmos.

He doubts that Dom ever looks into his eyes and wonders what the earth is like.

There are nights when Billy almost manages to break gravity's stronghold, but those nights are becoming fewer lately. He feels Dom pulling away, retreating further into the celestial chasm. Leaving Billy behind.

Billy doesn't want to be left behind.

He'll do anything to avoid being left behind.

He looks at the narrow lines of chalky white powder on the table in front of him and reminds himself again that he'll do anything to be with Dom. That this is the only way to connect with Dom. The only way to fly.

Billy sniffs at the finely cut powder, feeling the bitter traces of dust sliding down his throat, and he coughs once, softly, not wanting Dom to realize what he's up to. He finishes the line and covers the evidence with a piece of scrap paper.

This is the only way to spin in Dominic's orbit.

He sees the edges of his vision start to blur and knows that he's taking off now. He floats languidly through the upper atmosphere, pausing only for a second when Dom comes in and lies down beside him. Dom's fingers are in his hair and Billy wonders for a second how he caught up to Dom so quickly. He thought Dom would be further away. Billy's barely past the moon and already Dom is there, his tongue tangling with Billy's own, his hand flitting quickly down Billy's back.

Billy's heart is pounding now, he needs Dom this instant, wants to move faster than the speed of light to get Dom inside him. Dom obeys him so quickly that Billy has to wonder if he said that out loud. Dom's never done that before, and Billy knows it's because they've never been out here in the same orbit before.

Billy's a little scared. He gasps for air, barely able to get enough oxygen. You can't breathe in space. But Dom manages somehow, so he will too.

They're passing Mars now. All Billy sees is the parched red dust. Dom buries himself in Billy and Billy hardly feels it. Billy hardly feels anything. It's too cold out here, too dark. Billy's not meant to fly. He knows that now. Dom thrusts so hard that his balls slap Billy's ass and still Billy isn't satisfied. He needs more. He needs the heat of the stars and the glare of the sun. He's only getting vacuum.

Dom comes inside him with a harsh shuddering cry, but Billy can't hear him. They're too close, way too close; there's a black hole dead ahead and it's pulling him in. How Dom escapes, Billy will never know.

Billy was never meant to fly.

Billy isn't meant to live in the stars.
