(no subject)

Pairing: Domlijah
Rating:PG-13 (just for swearing, and some suggestions at things)
Summary: Dom hates snow, Elijah loves it.
Feedback: is appreciated. My friend and I argued for almost an hour about whether or not I should have replaced all the opening and closing "was"'s with "were"'s. We decided to go with the were's. *note- I was indeed recently informed that it should be was, so they'll be changed*

It was nights like these when Dom sat on the back steps. Heavy snow already coating the ground. Vanilla scented candles. Soft mittens. A wool cap. Dim street lights.
It was nights like these when Dominic wondered where Elijah was. And what went wrong.
And if he remembered.
And if he thought of Dom.

He didnt know how Elijah had managed to get him out there that night. Ten degrees below zero. Heavy snow. It probably took them more time to button coats and pull on mittens then the time they spent outside.
It was the first snow of the season and Elijah had insisted they experience it together. He jumped around the house, following Dom. Not saying a word to him, but always managing to get in the way. Dom gave up when Elijah had pranced into the bathroom after him and fully intended to stand there while Dom took a piss.
"Fine, Let's go."
He squealed like a fangirl that has just seen Orlando naked. He busied himself with pulling out gloves, scarves, hats, boots. Dom stood in the kitchen, waiting for this to be over. Elijah came back looking like he had gained 30 pounds because of the layers he had put on. Dom laughed. Elijah's eyes questioned him, but he never said a word. He pulled a wool cap over Dom's head, purposely pulling it down over his eyes. Dom left it there, he was in no mood to play Elijah's games. When he felt that Elijah was done "preparing" him, he dared to lift the cap and saw that Elijah had already gone outside. The cold air hit him and for a second, Dom considered staying inside and watching Elijah through the window.
"Hurry up!"
Snow was blowing into the house. He shut the door behind him as he made his way into the cold. And to Elijah. He was spinning in the snow, arms stretched out, eyelashes fluttering with each touch of a snowflake. He stopped when Dom made no move to join him. Dominic stared off into space, watching his breath through the air. In that split second before Dom turned his head to see why Elijah had stopped spinning, Elijah jumped on him. They toppled into the show together, caught by the soft blanket of snow. Dom's teeth chattered from the sudden touch of cold, but Elijah's mouth warmed his. And when Elijah's lips touched his, the snow melted away. Everything melted away.
"Elijah..."
"Hmm?"
"You're crushing me." Dom pushed Elijah into the snow. He stumbled through the snow, running as fast as he could. He knew there would be retaliation. Elijah was behind him. Always one step behind Dom.
"Truce!" Elijah called out when he was incapable of running any longer. He clutched his side and searched for breath. Dom grinned triumphantly, knowing he could use this as an excuse to go inside.
"Dom, I have to tell you something."
"Yes?"
"Your mother." Elijah shoved the snow from his pocket into Dom's face, and slipped from Dom's grasp before he could catch him. Dom knew he would repay him. Tonight, in the privacy of their bedroom, of course. He wiped the snow from his eyes and headed for the back door in order to start that punishing.
Elijah sat on the back steps, waiting for him.
"Both doors are locked."
They laughed. Dom sat beside Elijah, and he wiped the remainder of the snow from Dom's face. He rested his head on Dom's shoulder.
"Perfection," Dom whispered.
"I thought you hated the snow?"
"I was talking about you."

It was nights like these when Elijah stood on the balcony. Resting against the railing. Cigarette in hand. Wishing he could remember the snow. And what Dom smelled like.
It was nights like these when Elijah wondered why he left.
It was a night like this when Elijah packed a bag. And booked the first flight back to Dom.
Back to home.
